Job 5
1 Call now, see if any will answer thee! And to which of the holy ones wilt thou look?
૧“હવે હાંક માર; તને જવાબ આપનાર કોઈ છે ખરું? તું હવે ક્યા પવિત્રને શરણે જશે?
2 Verily grief destroyeth the fool, And wrath consumeth the weak man.
૨કેમ કે ક્રોધ મૂર્ખ માણસને મારી નાખે છે; ઈર્ષ્યા મૂર્ખનો જીવ લે છે.
3 I have seen an impious man taking root, But soon I cursed his habitation.
૩મેં મૂર્ખ વ્યક્તિને મૂળ નાખતાં જોયો છે, પણ પછી અચાનક મેં તેના ઘરને શાપ દીધો.
4 His children are far from safety; They are oppressed at the gate, and there is none to deliver them.
૪તેનાં સંતાનો સહીસલામત નથી, તેઓ ભાગળમાં કચડાય છે. અને તેઓનો બચાવ કરે એવું કોઈ નથી.
5 His harvest the hungry devour, Carrying it even through the thorns; And a snare gapeth after his substance.
૫તેઓનો પાક ભૂખ્યા લોકો ખાઈ જાય છે, વળી કાંટાઓમાંથી પણ તેઓ તે લઈ જાય છે. તેઓની સંપત્તિ લોભીઓ ગળી જાય છે.
6 For affliction cometh not from the dust, Nor doth trouble spring up from the ground;
૬કેમ કે વિપત્તિઓ ધૂળમાંથી બહાર આવતી નથી. અને મુશ્કેલીઓ જમીનમાંથી ઊગતી નથી.
7 Behold, man is born to trouble, As the sparks fly upward.
૭પરંતુ જેમ ચિનગારીઓ ઊંચી ઊડે છે. તેવી જ રીતે મનુષ્ય સંકટને સારુ સૃજાયેલું છે.
8 I would look to God, And to God would I commit my cause,
૮છતાં હું ઈશ્વરને શોધું અને મારી બાબત ઈશ્વરને સોંપું.
9 Who doeth great things and unsearchable; Yea, marvellous things without number;
૯તેઓ મોટાં અને અગમ્ય કાર્યો કરે છે તથા અગણિત અદ્દભુત કાર્યો કરે છે.
10 Who giveth rain upon the earth, And sendeth water upon the fields;
૧૦તે પૃથ્વી પર વરસાદ વરસાવે છે, અને ખેતરોમાં જળ પહોંચાડે છે.
11 Who placeth the lowly in high places, And restoreth the afflicted to prosperity;
૧૧તે સામાન્ય માણસને માનવંતા બનાવે છે; તથા શોકાતુરોને ઊંચે ચઢાવીને સલામત રાખે છે.
12 Who disappointeth the devices of the crafty, So that their hands cannot perform their enterprises;
૧૨તે ચાલાક, પ્રપંચી લોકોની યોજનાઓને એવી રદ કરે છે કે, જેથી તેઓના હાથથી તેમનાં ધારેલાં કાર્યો થઈ શકતાં નથી.
13 Who taketh the wise in their own craftiness, And bringeth to nought the counsel of the artful.
૧૩કપટી લોકોને તે પોતાના જ છળકપટમાં ગૂંચવી નાખે છે. અને દુષ્ટ માણસોના મનસૂબાનો નાશ કરે છે.
14 They meet with darkness in the daytime; They grope at noon as if it were night.
૧૪ધોળે દહાડે તેઓને અંધકાર દેખાય છે, અને ખરે બપોરે તેઓ રાતની જેમ ફાંફાં મારે છે.
15 So he saveth the persecuted from their mouth; The oppressed from the hand of the mighty.
૧૫પણ તે લાચારને તેઓની તલવારથી અને તે દરિદ્રીઓને બળવાનના હાથથી બચાવે છે.
16 So the poor hath hope, And iniquity stoppeth her mouth.
૧૬તેથી ગરીબને આશા રહે છે, અને દુષ્ટોનું મોં ચૂપ કરે છે.
17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth; Therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty.
૧૭જુઓ, જે માણસને ઈશ્વર શિક્ષા કરે છે. તેને ધન્ય છે, માટે તું સર્વસમર્થની શિક્ષાને તુચ્છ ન ગણ.
18 For he bruiseth, and bindeth up; He woundeth, and his hands make whole.
૧૮કેમ કે તે દુ: ખી કરે છે અને તે જ પાટો બાંધે છે; તે ઘાયલ કરે છે અને તેમના હાથ તેને સાજા કરે છે.
19 In six troubles will he deliver thee; Yea, in seven shall no evil touch thee.
૧૯છ સંકટમાંથી તે તને બચાવશે, હા, સાતમાંથી તને કંઈ નુકસાન થશે નહિ.
20 In famine he will redeem thee from death, And in war from the power of the sword.
૨૦તે તને દુકાળમાં મૃત્યુમાંથી; અને યુદ્ધમાં તલવારના ત્રાસમાંથી બચાવી લેશે.
21 Thou shalt be safe from the scourge of the tongue, And shalt not be afraid of destruction, when it cometh.
૨૧જીભના તીક્ષ્ણ મારથી તે તારું રક્ષણ કરશે. અને આફતની સામે પણ તું નિર્ભય રહીશ.
22 At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh, And of the wild beasts of the land shalt thou not be afraid.
૨૨વિનાશ અને દુકાળને તું હસી કાઢીશ. અને પૃથ્વી પરનાં હિંસક પશુઓથી તું ડરીશ નહિ.
23 For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field; Yea, the beasts of the forest shall be at peace with thee.
૨૩તારા ખેતરના પથ્થરો પણ તારા સંપીલા મિત્રો બનશે. પૃથ્વી પરનાં જંગલી જાનવરોથી પણ તું બીશે નહિ.
24 Thou shalt find that thy tent is in peace; Thou shalt visit thy dwelling, and not be disappointed.
૨૪તને ખાતરી થશે કે તારો તંબુ સુરક્ષિત છે. અને તું તારા પોતાના વાડાને તપાસી જોશે, તો તને કશું ખોવાયેલું જોવા મળશે નહિ.
25 Thou shalt see thy descendants numerous, And thine offspring as the grass of the earth.
૨૫તને ખાતરી થશે કે મારે પુષ્કળ સંતાનો છે, અને પૃથ્વી પરના ઘાસની જેમ તારા વંશજો પણ ઘણા થશે.
26 Thou shalt come to thy grave in full age, As a shock of corn gathered in its season.
૨૬જેમ પાકેલા ધાન્યનો પૂળો તેની મોસમે ઘરે લવાય છે. તેમ તું તારી પાકી ઉંમરે કબરમાં જઈશ.
27 Lo! this we have searched out; so it is: Hear it, and lay it up in thy mind!
૨૭જુઓ, અમે એ વાતની ખાતરી કરી છે કે; તે તો એમ જ છે; તે તું સાંભળ અને તારા હિતાર્થે ધ્યાનમાં લે.”
