Job 4
1 Then spake Eliphaz the Temanite, and said:
૧પછી અલિફાઝ તેમાનીએ જવાબ આપ્યો કે,
2 If one attempt a word with thee, wilt thou be offended? But who can refrain from speaking?
૨“જો કોઈ તારી સાથે બોલવાનું કરે તો તારું હૃદય દુખાશે? પણ બોલ્યા વગર કોણ રહી શકે?
3 Behold, thou hast admonished many; Thou hast strengthened feeble hands;
૩જો, તેં ઘણા લોકોને સલાહ આપી છે, અને તેં અનેક દુર્બળ હાથોને મજબૂત કર્યા છે.
4 Thy words have upheld him that was falling, And thou hast given strength to feeble knees.
૪તારા શબ્દોએ પડતાને ઊભા કર્યા છે, અને તેં થરથરતા પગને સ્થિર કર્યા છે.
5 But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; It toucheth thee, and thou art confounded!
૫પરંતુ હવે જ્યારે મુશ્કેલીઓ તારા પર આવી પડી છે, ત્યારે તું નિરાશ થઈ ગયો છે; તે તને સ્પર્શ કરે છે ત્યારે તું ગભરાઈ જાય છે.
6 Is not thy fear of God thy hope, And the uprightness of thy ways thy confidence?
૬ઈશ્વરના ભયમાં તને ભરોસો નથી? તારા સદાચાર પર તને આશા નથી?
7 Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished being innocent? Or where have the righteous been cut off?
૭હું તને વિનંતી કરું છું કે, આ વિષે વિચાર કર; કયા નિર્દોષ માણસો નાશ પામ્યા છે? અને કયા સદાચારીની પાયમાલી થઈ છે?
8 According to what I have seen, they who plough iniquity, And sow mischief, reap the same.
૮મારા અનુભવ પ્રમાણે જેઓ અન્યાય ખેડે છે, તથા નુકશાન વાવે છે, તેઓ તેવું જ લણે છે.
9 By the blast of God they perish, And by the breath of his nostrils they are consumed.
૯ઈશ્વરના શ્વાસથી તેઓ નાશ પામે છે. તેઓના કોપની જ્વાલાઓથી તેઓ ભસ્મ થઈ જાય છે.
10 The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, And the teeth of the young lions are broken.
૧૦સિંહની ગર્જના અને વિકરાળ સિંહનો અવાજ, અને જુવાન સિંહના દાંત તૂટી જાય છે.
11 The fierce lion perisheth for lack of prey, And the whelps of the lioness are scattered abroad.
૧૧વૃદ્ધ સિંહ શિકાર વગર નાશ પામે છે. અને જુવાન સિંહણના બચ્ચાં રખડી પડે છે.
12 A word was once secretly brought to me, And mine ear caught a whisper thereof.
૧૨હમણાં એક ગુપ્ત વાત મારી પાસે આવી, અને તેના ભણકારા મારા કાને પડ્યા.
13 Amid thoughts from visions of the night, When deep sleep falleth upon men,
૧૩જ્યારે માણસો ભરનિદ્રામાં પડે છે, ત્યારે રાતનાં સંદર્શનો પરથી આવતા વિચારોમાં,
14 A fear and a horror came upon me, Which made all my bones to shake.
૧૪હું ભયથી ધ્રુજી ગયો અને મારાં સર્વ હાડકાં થથરી ઊઠયાં.
15 Then a spirit passed before my face, The hair of my flesh rose on end;
૧૫ત્યારે એક આત્મા મારા મોંને સ્પશીર્ને પસાર થઈ ગયો અને મારા શરીરનાં રૂઆં ઊભાં થઈ ગયાં.
16 It stood still, but its form I could not discern; An image was before mine eyes; There was silence, and I heard a voice:
૧૬તે સ્થિર ઊભો રહ્યો, પણ હું તેનું સ્વરૂપ ઓળખી શક્યો નહિ. એક આકૃતિ મારી સમક્ષ આવીને ઊભી રહી. અને ત્યાં શાંતિ હતી. પછી મેં એવો અવાજ સાંભળ્યો કે,
17 “Shall mortal man be more just than God? Shall man be more pure than his Maker?
૧૭‘શું માણસ ઈશ્વર કરતાં વધારે ન્યાયી હોઈ શકે? શું તે તેના સર્જનહાર કરતાં વધારે પવિત્ર હોઈ શકે?
18 Behold, he putteth no trust in his ministering spirits, And his angels he chargeth with frailty.
૧૮જુઓ, તે પોતાના સેવકો પર કંઈ વિશ્વાસ રાખતા નથી; અને તે પોતાના દૂતોને ગુનેગાર ગણે છે.
19 What then are they who dwell in houses of clay, Whose foundation is in the dust, Who crumble to pieces, as if moth-eaten!
૧૯તો ધૂળમાં નાખેલા પાયાવાળા માટીનાં ઘરોમાં રહેનાર, જેઓ પતંગિયાની જેમ કચરાઈ જાય છે. તેઓને તે કેટલા અધિક ગણશે?
20 Between morning and evening are they destroyed; They perish for ever, and none regardeth it.
૨૦સવારથી સાંજ સુધીમાં તેઓ નાશ પામે છે. તેઓ સદાને માટે નાશ પામે છે, કોઈ તેઓની ચિંતા કરતું નથી.
21 The excellency that is in them is torn away; They die before they have become wise.”
૨૧શું તેઓનો વૈભવ જતો રહેતો નથી? તેઓ મરી જાય છે; તેઓ જ્ઞાનવગર મૃત્યુ પામે છે.”
