< Job 38 >
1 Then spake Jehovah to Job out of the whirlwind, and said:
Nake Jehova agĩcookeria Ayubu ũhoro arĩ kĩhuhũkanio-inĩ, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ:
2 Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?
“Nũũ ũyũ ũrekĩra kĩrĩra gĩakwa nduma na ciugo itarĩ na ũmenyo?
3 Gird up thy loins like a man! I will ask thee, and answer thou me!
Wĩhotore ta mũndũ mũrũme; nĩngũkũũria ciũria, nawe ũkĩnjookerie.
4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if thou hast understanding!
“Warĩ kũ rĩrĩa ndaakire mũthingi wa thĩ? Njĩĩra akorwo ũrĩ na ũũgĩ wa kũmenya.
5 Who fixed its dimensions, that thou shouldst know it! Or who stretched out the line upon it?
Nũũ wathimire mũigana wayo? Ti-itherũ wee nĩũũĩ! Nũũ watambũrũkirie rũrigi rwa gũthima igũrũ rĩayo?
6 Upon what were its foundations fixed? And who laid its corner-stone,
Mĩthingi yayo yahandirwo igũrũ rĩa kĩĩ, kana nũũ wahaandire ihiga rĩayo rĩa koine,
7 When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy?
hĩndĩ ĩrĩa njata cia rũciinĩ ciainire hamwe, na araika othe makĩanĩrĩra nĩ gũkena?
8 And who shut up the sea with doors, When it burst forth as from the womb?
“Nũũ wahingĩrĩirie iria na mĩrango rĩrĩa rĩatumũkire kuuma nda,
9 When I made the clouds its mantle, And thick darkness its swaddling-band;
rĩrĩa ndatuire matu nguo ciarĩo, na ngĩrĩoha nduma nene ta taama warĩo,
10 When I appointed for it my bound, And fixed for it bars and doors;
rĩrĩa ndarĩkĩrĩire mĩhaka, na ngĩrĩhingĩra na mĩrango yarĩo, na ngĩĩkĩra mĩgĩĩko handũ hayo,
11 And said, Thus far shalt thou come, and no farther, And here shall thy proud waves be stayed!
rĩrĩa ndoigire atĩrĩ, ‘Ũkinyage o haha na ndũkanahakĩre; makũmbĩ maku macio metĩĩi-rĩ, hau nĩho marĩĩkinyaga’?
12 Hast thou, in thy life, given charge to the morning, Or caused the day-spring to know its place,
“Kuuma o kĩambĩrĩria-rĩ, ũrĩ waathana atĩ rũciinĩ rũgĩe ho, kana ũkĩonereria ũtheri wa rũciinĩ harĩa ũkuumĩrĩra,
13 That it should lay hold of the ends of the earth, And shake the wicked out of it?
nĩguo ũhote kũnyiita thĩ na mĩthia yaguo, nao arĩa aaganu maribaribwo moime kuo?
14 It is changed as clay by the seal; And all things stand forth as in rich apparel.
Thĩ ĩhaanaga ta rĩũmba rĩhũrĩtwo mũhũũri; mũonekere wayo ũtariĩ ta mũhianĩre wa nguo.
15 But from the wicked their light is withheld, And the high-raised arm is broken.
Andũ arĩa aaganu nĩmaimagwo ũtheri wao, na guoko kwao kũrĩa kuoetwo na igũrũ gũkoinwo.
16 Hast thou visited the springs of the sea, And walked through the recesses of the deep?
“Ũrĩ wathiĩ rũgendo nginya kũrĩa iria rĩtherũkagĩra, kana ũgaceera itwe-inĩ cia ndia kũrĩa kũriku mũno?
17 Have the gates of death been disclosed to thee, And hast thou seen the gates of the shadow of death?
Ũrĩ wonio ihingo cia gĩkuũ? Ũrĩ wona ihingo cia kĩĩruru gĩa gĩkuũ?
18 Hast thou surveyed the breadth of the earth? Declare, if thou knowest it all!
Ũrĩ wamenya ũnene wa wariĩ wa thĩ? Njĩĩra akorwo nĩũũĩ maũndũ macio mothe.
19 Where is the way to the abode of light? And darkness—where is its dwelling-place?
“Njĩra ya gũthiĩ kũrĩa ũtheri ũtũũraga nĩĩrĩkũ? Nayo nduma ĩikaraga kũ?
20 That thou shouldst lead it to its boundary, And that thou shouldst know the paths to its mansion!
No ũcitware gwacio? Nĩũũĩ tũcĩra twa gũthiĩ kũrĩa itũũraga?
21 Surely thou knowest; for thou wast then born! And the number of thy years is great!
Ti-itherũ wee nĩũũĩ, nĩgũkorwo warĩ mũciare! Wee-rĩ, nĩũtũũrĩte mĩaka mĩingĩ!
22 Hast thou visited the storehouses of the snow, Or seen the treasuries of the hail,
“Ũrĩ watoonya makũmbĩ kũrĩa tharunji ĩigĩtwo, kana ũkĩona makũmbĩ kũrĩa mbura ya mbembe ĩigĩtwo,
23 Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, —Against the day of battle and war?
o icio njigĩte nĩ ũndũ wa mahinda ma thĩĩna, ngaciiga nĩ ũndũ wa matukũ ma mbaara na ma kũrũa.
24 What is the way to where light is distributed, And the east wind spread abroad upon the earth?
Njĩra ya gũthiĩ kũrĩa ũtheri ũgayanagĩrio nĩĩrĩkũ, kana ya gũthiĩ kũrĩa rũhuho rwa irathĩro rũhurunjagĩrwo gũkũ thĩ?
25 Who hath prepared channels for the rain, And a path for the thunder-flash,
Nũũ wenjagĩra mbura ya kĩboboto mũtaro wa kũgerera, kana agatemera mbura ya marurumĩ njĩra,
26 To give rain to the land without an inhabitant, To the wilderness wherein is no man;
nĩguo mbura yure bũrũri ũtatũũraga mũndũ, na yure werũ kũrĩa gũtarĩ mũndũ,
27 To satisfy the desolate and waste ground, And cause the tender herb to spring forth?
nĩguo ĩhũũnagie kũu gũtiganĩrie gũgakira ihooru, na ĩtũme kũmere nyeki?
28 Hath the rain a father? Or who hath begotten the drops of the dew?
Mbura nĩĩrĩ ithe? Nũũ mũciari wa matata ma ime?
29 Out of whose womb came the ice? And who hath gendered the hoar-frost of heaven?
Tharunji yumaga nda ya ũ? Nũũ ũciaraga mbaa ĩrĩa yumaga igũrũ,
30 The waters are hid as under stone, And the face of the deep becometh solid.
rĩrĩa maaĩ momaga ta ihiga, rĩrĩa maaĩ marĩa marĩ igũrũ wa iria magwatana?
31 Canst thou fasten the bands of the Pleiades, Or loosen the chains of Orion?
“Wee-rĩ, wahota kuohania njata iria thaka cia Kĩrĩmĩra? Wahota kuohora mĩkanda ya njata iria ciĩtagwo Karaũ?
32 Canst thou lead forth the Signs in their season, Or guide the Bear with her sons?
Wahota kuumagaragia njata iria ciĩtagwo Mazarothu o mahinda maacio maakinya, kana wahota gũtongoria Nduba na ciana ciayo?
33 Knowest thou the ordinances of the heavens? Hast thou appointed their dominion over the earth?
Nĩũũĩ mawatho ma igũrũ? No ũhote kũhaanda wathani wa Ngai ũrũme gũkũ thĩ?
34 Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, So that abundance of waters will cover thee?
“Wahota kwanĩrĩra nginya mũgambo waku ũkinye matu-inĩ nĩguo kuure wĩhumbĩre na kĩguũ kĩa maaĩ?
35 Canst thou send forth lightnings, so that they will go, And say to thee, “Here we are”?
Wee nĩwe ũtũmaga heni ithiĩ na njĩra ciacio? Nĩikũrehagĩra ũhoro igakwĩra atĩ, ‘Tũrĩ haha’?
36 Who hath put understanding in the reins, And given intelligence to the mind?
Nũũ waheire ngoro ũũgĩ, kana akĩhe meciiria ũmenyo?
37 Who numbereth the clouds in wisdom? And who poureth out the bottles of heaven,
Nũũ ũrĩ na ũũgĩ wa gũtara matu? Nũũ ũngĩhota kũinamia ndigithũ cia maaĩ cia igũrũ
38 When the dust floweth into a molten mass, And the clods cleave fast together?
rĩrĩa rũkũngũ rwatondora, nayo ndoro ĩkooma ĩkanyiitana?
39 Canst thou hunt prey for the lioness, Or satisfy the hunger of the young lions,
“Nĩwe ũguĩmagĩra mũrũũthi wa mũgoma wone gĩa kũrĩa, kana nĩwe ũniinagĩra mĩrũũthi ngʼaragu
40 When they couch in their dens, And lie in wait in the thicket?
rĩrĩa ĩkomereire imamo-inĩ ciayo, kana rĩrĩa ĩikaraga yoheirie nyamũ ihinga-inĩ?
41 Who provideth for the raven his food, When his young ones cry unto God, While they wander about without food?
Nũũ ũheaga ihuru irio rĩrĩa tũcui twarĩo tũgũkaĩra Mũrungu tũkĩũrũũraga nĩ kwaga irio?
