< Job 38 >

1 Then spake Jehovah to Job out of the whirlwind, and said:
Tete Yehowa ɖo nyawo ŋu na Hiob to ahom me be,
2 Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?
“Ame ka nye esi tsɔ viviti tsyɔ nye aɖaŋudede dzi kple nya siwo gɔmesese meli na la o?
3 Gird up thy loins like a man! I will ask thee, and answer thou me!
Tso nàbla ali dzi abe ŋutsu ene, mabia nya wò, nàɖo eŋu nam.
4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if thou hast understanding!
“Afi ka nènɔ esi meɖo anyigba ƒe gɔmeɖokpewo anyi? Gblɔe nam, ne èse egɔme.
5 Who fixed its dimensions, that thou shouldst know it! Or who stretched out the line upon it?
Ame kae dzidze eƒe kekeme kple didime? Ànyae godoo! Ame kae tsɔ dzidzeka ɖo eŋu?
6 Upon what were its foundations fixed? And who laid its corner-stone,
Nu ka dzi woɖo egɔme anyi ɖo? Alo ame kae ɖo eƒe dzogoedzikpe
7 When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy?
esi ŋukeɣletiviwo le ha dzim ɖekae eye Mawudɔlawo katã do dzidzɔɣli?
8 And who shut up the sea with doors, When it burst forth as from the womb?
“Ame kae do ʋɔ ɖe atsiaƒu nu esi wòdo go kpoyi tso dadaa ƒe dɔ me
9 When I made the clouds its mantle, And thick darkness its swaddling-band;

10 When I appointed for it my bound, And fixed for it bars and doors;
esi meɖo seɖoƒe nɛ, hede ʋɔtru kple gametiwo enu,
11 And said, Thus far shalt thou come, and no farther, And here shall thy proud waves be stayed!
esi megblɔ be, ‘Afii ko nàse, mèkpɔ mɔ ato liƒo sia dzi o, afi sia ko wò dada kple ɖokuidodoɖedzi ase?’
12 Hast thou, in thy life, given charge to the morning, Or caused the day-spring to know its place,
“Èɖe gbe na ŋdi kpɔ tso esi wò ŋkekewo dze egɔme alo na fɔŋli nya eƒe nɔƒe,
13 That it should lay hold of the ends of the earth, And shake the wicked out of it?

14 It is changed as clay by the seal; And all things stand forth as in rich apparel.
Anyigba trɔ eƒe nɔnɔme abe anyi le nutrenu te ene, eye eƒe nɔnɔme le abe avɔ tɔ ene.
15 But from the wicked their light is withheld, And the high-raised arm is broken.
Woxɔ ame vɔ̃ɖiwo ƒe kekeli le wo si eye woŋe woƒe abɔ si wodo ɖe dzi.
16 Hast thou visited the springs of the sea, And walked through the recesses of the deep?
“Èzɔ mɔ yi ɖe atsiaƒu ƒe vudo me alo zɔ le gogloƒe ƒe nudiƒewo kpɔa?
17 Have the gates of death been disclosed to thee, And hast thou seen the gates of the shadow of death?
Wofia ku ƒe agbowo wò kpɔa? Èkpɔ ku ƒe vɔvɔli ƒe agbowo kpɔa?
18 Hast thou surveyed the breadth of the earth? Declare, if thou knowest it all!
Èse anyigba ƒe kekeme gɔmea? Gblɔe nam, ne ènya esiawo katã.
19 Where is the way to the abode of light? And darkness—where is its dwelling-place?
“Afi ka mɔ si yi kekeli ƒe nɔƒe la to? Eye afi kae nye viviti nɔƒe?
20 That thou shouldst lead it to its boundary, And that thou shouldst know the paths to its mansion!
Àte ŋu akplɔ wo ayi wo nɔƒewoea? Ènya toƒe si yi ɖe wo nɔƒea?
21 Surely thou knowest; for thou wast then born! And the number of thy years is great!
Meka ɖe edzi be ènyae elabena wodzi wò ye ma ɣi xoxo! Ƒe geɖewoe nye esia esi nèle agbe!
22 Hast thou visited the storehouses of the snow, Or seen the treasuries of the hail,

23 Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, —Against the day of battle and war?

24 What is the way to where light is distributed, And the east wind spread abroad upon the earth?
Afi ka mɔ si wotona yia teƒe si dzikedzo kakana le alo teƒe si wokakaa ɣedzeƒeya le ɖe anyigba blibo la dzi la to?
25 Who hath prepared channels for the rain, And a path for the thunder-flash,

28 Hath the rain a father? Or who hath begotten the drops of the dew?
Fofo le tsidzadza sia? Ame kae nye tɔ na ahũdzadza?
29 Out of whose womb came the ice? And who hath gendered the hoar-frost of heaven?
Ame ka ƒe dɔ mee tsikpe do tso? Ame kae dzi zãmu si dzana tso dziƒo,
30 The waters are hid as under stone, And the face of the deep becometh solid.

31 Canst thou fasten the bands of the Pleiades, Or loosen the chains of Orion?
“Àte ŋu abla Atifieŋu siwo le keklẽma? Àte ŋu atu Avutɔ ƒe kawoa?
32 Canst thou lead forth the Signs in their season, Or guide the Bear with her sons?
Àte ŋu akplɔ ŋukeɣletiviwo ado goe ne woƒe dodoɣi ɖo alo akplɔ koklonɔ kple viawoa?
33 Knowest thou the ordinances of the heavens? Hast thou appointed their dominion over the earth?

34 Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, So that abundance of waters will cover thee?
“Àte ŋu akɔ gbe dzi ado ɣli na lilikpowo, eye nàtsɔ tsiɖɔɖɔ atsyɔ ɖokuiwò dzia?
35 Canst thou send forth lightnings, so that they will go, And say to thee, “Here we are”?
Wòe ɖo dzikedzo ɖe eƒe mɔ dzia? Ɖe wova gblɔna na wò be, ‘Míawoe nye esi’ mahã?
36 Who hath put understanding in the reins, And given intelligence to the mind?

37 Who numbereth the clouds in wisdom? And who poureth out the bottles of heaven,
Ame ka sie nunya le be wòaxlẽ lilikpowo? Ame kae ate ŋu aviã tsizɔ siwo le dziƒo,

39 Canst thou hunt prey for the lioness, Or satisfy the hunger of the young lions,
“Wòe daa ade na dzatanɔ eye nèdia nuɖuɖu na dzatawo, ne dɔ le wo wum
40 When they couch in their dens, And lie in wait in the thicket?
eye womlɔ woƒe dowo me alo le adeklo dzi le ave mea?
41 Who provideth for the raven his food, When his young ones cry unto God, While they wander about without food?
Ame kae dia nuɖuɖu na akpaviãwo, ne viawo le xɔxlɔ̃m na Mawu eye wole tsatsam le nuɖuɖu makpɔmakpɔ ta?
