Job 36
1 Elihu also proceeded, and said:
Zatím přidal Elihu, a řekl:
2 Bear with me a little while, that I may show thee! For I have yet words in behalf of God.
Postrp mne maličko, a oznámímť šíře; neboť mám ještě, co bych za Boha mluvil.
3 I will bring my knowledge from afar, And assert the justice of my Maker.
Vynesu smysl svůj zdaleka, a stvořiteli svému přivlastním spravedlnost.
4 Truly my words shall not be false: A man of sound knowledge is before thee.
V pravdě, žeť ne budou lživé řeči mé; zdravě smýšlejícího máš mne s sebou.
5 Behold, God is great, but despiseth not any; Great is he in strength of understanding.
Aj, Bůh silný mocný jest, aniž svých zamítá; silný jest, a srdce udatného.
6 He suffereth not the wicked to prosper, But rendereth justice to the oppressed.
Neobživuje bezbožného, chudým pak k soudu dopomáhá.
7 He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous; But establisheth them for ever with kings on the throne, That they may be exalted.
Neodvrací od spravedlivého očí svých, nýbrž s králi na stolici sází je na věky, i bývají zvýšeni.
8 And if they be bound in fetters, And holden in the cords of affliction,
Pakli by poutami sevříni byli, zapleteni jsouce provazy ssoužení:
9 Then showeth he them their deeds, And how they have set him at defiance by their transgressions;
Tudy jim v známost uvodí hřích jejich, a že přestoupení jejich se ssilila.
10 He also openeth their ears to admonition, And commandeth them to return from iniquity.
A tak otvírá sluch jejich, aby se napravili, anobrž mluví jim, aby se navrátili od nepravosti.
11 If they obey and serve him, They spend their days in prosperity, And their years in pleasures.
Uposlechnou-li a budou-li jemu sloužiti, stráví dny své v dobrém, a léta svá v potěšení.
12 But if they obey not, they perish by the sword; They die in their own folly.
Pakli neuposlechnou, od meče sejdou, a pozdychají bez umění.
13 The corrupt in heart treasure up wrath; They cry not to God, when he bindeth them.
Nebo kteříž jsou nečistého srdce, přivětšují hněvu, aniž k němu volají, když by je ssoužil.
14 They die in their youth; They close their lives with the unclean.
Protož umírá v mladosti duše jejich, a život jejich s smilníky.
15 But he delivereth the poor in their distress; He openeth their ears in affliction.
Vytrhuje, pravím, ssouženého z jeho ssoužení, a ty, jejichž sluch otvírá, v trápení.
16 He will bring thee also from the jaws of distress To a broad place, where is no straitness; And the provision of thy table shall be full of fatness.
A tak by i tebe přenesl z prostředku úzkosti na širokost, kdež není stěsnění, a byl by pokojný stůl tvůj tukem oplývající.
17 But if thou art full of the judgment of the wicked, Judgment and justice shall take hold of thee.
Ale ty zasloužils, abys jako bezbožný souzen byl; soud a právo na tě dochází.
18 For if wrath be with him, beware lest he take thee away by his stroke, So that a great ransom shall not save thee!
Jistě strach, aby tě neuvrhl Bůh u větší ránu, tak že by jakkoli veliká výplaty mzda, tebe nevyprostila.
19 Will he esteem thy riches? No! neither thy gold, nor all the abundance of thy wealth.
Zdaliž by sobě co vážil bohatství tvého? Jistě ani nejvýbornějšího zlata, ani jakékoli síly neb moci tvé.
20 Long not thou for that night To which nations are taken away from their place.
Nechvátejž tedy k noci, v kterouž odcházejí lidé na místo své.
21 Take heed, turn not thine eyes to iniquity! For this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.
Hleď, abys se neohlédal na marnost, zvoluje ji raději, nežli ssoužení.
22 Behold, God is exalted in his power: Who is a teacher like him?
Aj, Bůh silný nejvyšší jest mocí svou. Kdo jemu podobný učitel?
23 Who hath prescribed to him his way? Or who can say to him, “Thou hast done wrong”?
Kdo jemu vyměřil cestu jeho? Kdo jemu smí říci: Činíš nepravost?
24 Forget not to magnify his work, Which men celebrate with songs.
Pamětliv buď raději, abys vyvyšoval dílo jeho, kteréž spatřují lidé,
25 All mankind gaze upon it; Mortals behold it from afar.
Kteréž, pravím, všickni lidé vidí, na něž člověk patří zdaleka.
26 Behold, God is great; we cannot know him, Nor search out the number of his years.
Nebo Bůh silný tak jest veliký, že ho nemůžeme poznati, počet let jeho jest nevystižitelný.
27 Lo! he draweth up the drops of water, Which distil rain from his vapor;
On zajisté vyvodí krůpěje vod, kteréž vylévají déšť z oblaků jeho,
28 The clouds pour it down, And drop it upon man in abundance.
Když se rozpouštějí oblakové, a kropí na mnohé lidi.
29 Who can understand the spreading of his clouds, And the rattling of his pavilion?
(Anobrž vyrozumí-li kdo roztažení oblaků, a zvuku stánku jeho,
30 Behold, he spreadeth around himself his light, And he clotheth himself with the depths of the sea.
Jak rozprostírá nad ním světlo své, aneb všecko moře přikrývá?
31 By these he punisheth nations, And by these he giveth food in abundance.
Skrze ty věci zajisté tresce lidi, a též dává pokrmu hojnost.
32 His hands he covereth with lightning; He giveth it commandment against an enemy.
Oblaky zakrývá světlo, a přikazuje mu ukrývati se za to, co je potkává.)
33 His thunder maketh him known; Yea, to the herds, as he ascendeth on high.
Ohlašuje o něm zvuk jeho, též dobytek, a to hned, když pára zhůru vstupuje.
