Job 35
1 Moreover Elihu proceeded, and said:
Ještě mluvil Elihu, a řekl:
2 Dost thou then think this to be right? Thou hast said, “I am more righteous than God.”
Domníváš-liž se, že jsi to s soudem řekl: Spravedlnost má převyšuje Boží?
3 For thou askest, “What advantage have I? What have I gained, more than if I had sinned?”
Nebo jsi řekl: Co mi prospěje, jaký užitek budu míti, bych i nehřešil?
4 I will answer thee, And thy companions with thee.
Já odpovím tobě místně, i tovaryšům tvým s tebou.
5 Look up to the heavens, and see! And behold the clouds, which are high above thee!
Pohleď na nebe a viz, anobrž spatř oblaky, vyšší, než-lis ty.
6 If thou sinnest, what doest thou against Him? If thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou to him?
Jestliže bys hřešil, co svedeš proti němu? A byť se i rozmnožily nešlechetnosti tvé, co mu uškodíš?
7 If thou art righteous, what dost thou give him? Or what receiveth he at thy hand?
Budeš-li spravedlivý, čeho mu udělíš? Aneb co z ruky tvé vezme?
8 Thy wickedness injureth only a man like thyself, And thy righteousness profiteth only a son of man.
Každémuť člověku bezbožnost jeho uškodí, a synu člověka spravedlnost jeho prospěje.
9 The oppressed cry out on account of the multitude of wrongs; They cry aloud on account of the arm of the mighty.
Z množství nátisk trpících, kteréž k tomu přivodí, aby úpěli a křičeli pro ukrutnost povýšených,
10 But none saith, “Where is God, my Maker, Who giveth songs in the night;
Žádný neříká: Kde jest Bůh stvořitel můj? Ješto on dává zpěv i v noci.
11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, And maketh us wiser than the birds of heaven?”
On vyučuje nás nad hovada zemská, a nad ptactvo nebeské moudřejší nás činí.
12 There they cry aloud on account of the pride of the wicked; But he giveth no answer.
Tehdáž volají-li pro pýchu zlých, nebývají vyslyšáni.
13 For God will not hear the vain supplication, Nor will the Almighty regard it;
A jistě žeť ošemetnosti nevyslýchá Bůh silný, a Všemohoucí nepatří na ni.
14 Much less when thou sayest thou canst not see him: Justice is with him, —only wait thou for him!
Mnohem méně, jestliže díš: Nepatříš na to. Sám s sebou vejdi v soud před ním, a doufej v něho.
15 But now, because he hath not visited in his anger, Nor taken strict note of transgression,
Ale nyní poněvadž nic není těch věcí, navštívil jej hněv jeho; nebo nechce znáti hojnosti této veliké.
16 Therefore hath Job opened his mouth rashly, And multiplied words without knowledge.
A protož marně Job otvírá ústa svá, hloupě rozmnožuje řeči své.
