Job 35
1 Moreover Elihu proceeded, and said:
Elihu nastavi svoju besjedu i reče:
2 Dost thou then think this to be right? Thou hast said, “I am more righteous than God.”
“Zar ti misliš da pravo svoje braniš, da pravednost pred Bogom dokazuješ,
3 For thou askest, “What advantage have I? What have I gained, more than if I had sinned?”
kada mu kažeš: 'Što ti je to važno, i ako griješim, što ti činim time?'
4 I will answer thee, And thy companions with thee.
Na sve to ja ću odgovorit' tebi i prijateljima tvojim ujedno.
5 Look up to the heavens, and see! And behold the clouds, which are high above thee!
Po nebu se obazri i promatraj! Gledaj oblake: od tebe su viši!
6 If thou sinnest, what doest thou against Him? If thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou to him?
Ako griješiš, što si mu uradio, prijestupom svojim što si mu zadao?
7 If thou art righteous, what dost thou give him? Or what receiveth he at thy hand?
Ako si prav, što si dodao njemu i što iz ruke tvoje on dobiva?
8 Thy wickedness injureth only a man like thyself, And thy righteousness profiteth only a son of man.
Opakost tvoja tebi slične pogađa i pravda tvoja čovjeku koristi.
9 The oppressed cry out on account of the multitude of wrongs; They cry aloud on account of the arm of the mighty.
Ali kad ispod teškog stenju jarma, kad vapiju na nasilje moćnika,
10 But none saith, “Where is God, my Maker, Who giveth songs in the night;
nitko ne kaže: 'Gdje je Bog, moj tvorac, koji noć pjesmom veselom ispunja,
11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, And maketh us wiser than the birds of heaven?”
umnijim nas od zvijeri zemskih čini i mudrijima od ptica nebeskih?'
12 There they cry aloud on account of the pride of the wicked; But he giveth no answer.
Tad vapiju, al' on ne odgovara poradi oholosti zlikovaca.
13 For God will not hear the vain supplication, Nor will the Almighty regard it;
Ali kako je isprazno tvrditi da Bog njihove ne čuje vapaje, da pogled na njih ne svraća Svesilni!
14 Much less when thou sayest thou canst not see him: Justice is with him, —only wait thou for him!
A kamoli tek kada ti govoriš: 'On ne vidi mene, parnica moja pred njime stoji, a ja na nj još čekam.'
15 But now, because he hath not visited in his anger, Nor taken strict note of transgression,
Ili: 'Njegova srdžba ne kažnjava, nimalo on za prijestupe ne mari.'
16 Therefore hath Job opened his mouth rashly, And multiplied words without knowledge.
Isprazno tada otvara Job usta i besjede gomila nerazumne.”
