< Job 31 >

1 I made a covenant with mine eyes; How then could I gaze upon a maid?
Mwen te fè sèman pou m' pa janm gade yon jenn fi avèk move lide.
2 For what is the portion appointed by God from above, And the inheritance allotted by the Almighty from on high?
Kisa Bondye ki anwo a ap fè nou konsa? Kisa Bondye ki gen tout pouvwa a sere pou nou?
3 Is not destruction for the wicked, And ruin for the workers of iniquity?
Li voye tribilasyon pou moun k'ap fè mechanste.
4 Doth He not see my ways, And number all my steps?
5 If I have walked with falsehood, And if my foot hath hasted to deceit,
Eske mwen janm nan bay manti? Eske mwen janm chache twonpe moun?
6 Let him weigh me in an even balance; Yea, let God know my integrity!
Se pou Bondye peze m' nan bon balans li a. Se pou Bondye wè jan m' toujou mache dwat.
7 If my steps have turned aside from the way, And my heart gone after mine eyes, Or if any stain hath cleaved to my hand,
8 Then I may sow, and another eat; And what I plant, may it be rooted up!
9 If my heart hath been enticed by a woman, Or if I have watched at my neighbor's door,
Si mwen te kite yon lòt fanm pran tèt mwen, pou m' al kache devan pòt yon frè mwen ap veye,
10 Then let my wife grind for another, And let other men lie with her!
se pou madanm mwen fè manje pou yon lòt gason. Se pou lòt gason kouche avè l'.
11 For this were a heinous crime, Even a transgression to be punished by the judges;
Se yon gwo bagay sal mwen ta fè la a. Se bagay pou yo ta touye m'.
12 Yea, it were a fire that would consume to destruction, And root out all my increase.
Se ta tankou yon gwo dife mwen limen pou fini avè m' nèt. Li ta boule dènye sa m' genyen.
13 If I have refused justice to my man-servant or maid-servant, When they had a controversy with me,
Lè domestik mwen osinon sèvant mwen gen kont avè m', si mwen ta refize mete rezon an kote l' ye a,
14 Then what shall I do when God riseth up? And when he visiteth, what shall I answer him?
kisa mwen ta fè, lè Bondye parèt devan m'? Lè l'a mande m' kont, kisa m'a reponn li?
15 Did not He that made me in the womb make him? Did not one fashion us in the womb?
16 If I have refused the poor their desire, And caused the eyes of the widow to fail;
Mwen pa janm refize ede yon pòv. Ni mwen pa janm kite vèv yo nan nesesite.
17 If I have eaten my morsel alone, And the fatherless hath not partaken of it;
Mwen pa janm kite timoun san papa yo rete grangou pou m'ap manje manje m' pou kont mwen.
18 (Nay, from my youth he grew up with me as with a father, And I have helped the widow from my mother's womb; )
Okontrè, depi m' fèt, m' sèvi ak timoun sa yo tankou papa ak pitit. Depi m' soti nan vant manman m', m'ap pran swen vèv yo.
19 If I have seen any one perishing for want of clothing, Or any poor man without covering;
Lè m' jwenn yon malere toutouni osinon yon pòv endijan san yon bout dra,
20 If his loins have not blessed me, And he hath not been warmed with the fleece of my sheep;
mwen ba yo rad pou mete sou yo, mwen pran lenn sou do mouton m' pou m' ba yo chofe.
21 If I have shaken my hand against the fatherless, Because I saw my help in the gate, —
Si m' te janm aji mal ak yon timoun san papa paske mwen konnen y'a toujou ban m' rezon nan tribinal,
22 Then may my shoulder fill from its blade, And my fore-arm be broken from its bone!
23 For destruction from God was a terror to me, And before his majesty I could do nothing.
Paske, mwen pè jijman Bondye. Mwen pa ka kanpe devan l'.
24 If I have made gold my trust, Or said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence;
25 If I have rejoiced, because my wealth was great, And my hand had found abundance;
Mwen pa janm vante tèt mwen dèske mwen gen anpil byen, dèske mwen fè anpil lajan ak men mwen.
26 If I have beheld the sun in his splendor, Or the moon advancing in brightness,
Mwen pa janm adore solèy ak lalin lè yo klere byen bèl nan syèl la.
27 And my heart hath been secretly enticed, And my mouth hath kissed my hand,
Mwen pa janm pèdi tèt mwen pou m' sèvi yo an kachèt.
28 This also were a crime to be punished by the judge; For I should have denied the God who is above.
Sa a tou, yo ta mèt touye m' si m' ta fè l', paske mwen ta nye Bondye ki gen tout pouvwa a.
29 If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me, And exulted when evil came upon him;
Mwen pa janm kontan lè lènmi m' ap soufri. Mwen pa janm fè fèt lè malè tonbe sou yo.
30 (Nay, I have not suffered my mouth to sin, By asking with curses his life; )
Mwen pa janm kite bouch mwen chape pou m' ta ba yo madichon, pou m' ta rive mande lanmò pou yo.
31 If the men of my tent have not exclaimed, “Who is there that hath not been satisfied with his meat?”
Tout moun k'ap viv nan kay avè m' konnen mwen toujou byen resevwa tout moun lakay mwen.
32 The stranger did not lodge in the street; I opened my doors to the traveller.
Vwayajè pa janm dòmi deyò nan lari. Pòt kay mwen toujou louvri pou yo.
33 Have I, after the manner of men, hidden my transgression, Concealing my iniquity in my bosom,
Mwen pa janm kache peche m' pou pesonn. Ni mwen pa janm fè sa ki mal an kachèt.
34 Then let me be confounded before the great multitude! Let the contempt of families cover me with shame! Yea, let me keep silence! let me never appear abroad!
Mwen pa janm pè sa moun ap di. Mwen pa janm pè louvri bouch mwen ni pè mete pwent tèt mwen deyò, paske mwen ta pè pou moun pa lonje dwèt sou mwen.
35 O that there were one who would hear me! Behold my signature! let the Almighty answer me. And let mine adversary write down his charge!
36 Truly I would wear it upon my shoulder; I would bind it upon me as a crown.
mwen ta pote papye sa a sou zepòl mwen san ankenn wont. Mwen ta mare l' sou tèt mwen, tankou yon kouwòn.
37 I would disclose to him all my steps; I would approach him like a prince.
Mwen ta di Bondye dènye sa mwen fè. Mwen ta kenbe tèt mwen dwat devan l'.
38 If my land cry out against me, And its furrows bewail together;
Si se vòlò mwen te vòlò tè m'ap travay la kifè koulye a tè a ap mande m' kont,
39 If I have eaten of its fruits without payment, And wrung out the life of its owners,
si mwen te manje rekòt jaden an san peye travayè yo kifè koulye a y'ap pote plent pou mwen,
40 Let thorns grow up instead of wheat, And noxious weeds instead of barley. The words of Job are ended.
