Job 29
1 Moreover Job continued his discourse, and said:
੧ਅੱਯੂਬ ਨੇ ਤਰਕ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ,
2 O that I were as in months past, In the days when God was my guardian;
੨“ਕਾਸ਼ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਾਲਾਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਚੀਨ ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ਜਿਹੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਦ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ,
3 When his lamp shined over my head, And when by his light I walked through darkness!
੩ਜਦ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਦੀਵਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਲੋ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਜਦ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਚਾਨਣ ਨਾਲ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੱਲਦਾ ਸੀ,
4 As I was in the autumn of my days, When the friendship of God was over my tent;
੪ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਾਫ਼ਰੀ ਦੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਜਦ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਮਿੱਤਰਤਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੀ ਸੀ,
5 When the Almighty was yet with me, And my children were around me;
੫ਜਦ ਸਰਬ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਮਾਨ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਅਜੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਲ ਬੱਚੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਸਨ,
6 When I bathed my steps in milk, And the rock poured me out rivers of oil!
੬ਤਦ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਦਮ ਦਹੀਂ ਨਾਲ ਧੋਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ, ਅਤੇ ਚੱਟਾਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਤੇਲ ਦੀਆਂ ਧਾਰਾਂ ਵਗਾਉਂਦੀ ਸੀ।
7 When I went forth to the gate by the city, And took my seat in the market-place,
੭“ਜਦ ਮੈਂ ਨਗਰ ਦੇ ਫਾਟਕ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ, ਜਦ ਮੈਂ ਚੌਂਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਚੌਂਕੀ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ,
8 The young men saw me and hid themselves, And the aged arose and stood.
੮ਤਦ ਜੁਆਨ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਹਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ, ਅਤੇ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗ ਉੱਠ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ।
9 The princes refrained from speaking, And laid their hand upon their mouth.
੯ਹਾਕਮ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਨੋਂ ਰੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਸਨ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਮੂੰਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਸਨ।
10 The nobles held their peace, And their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth.
੧੦ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਬੰਦ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਤਾਲੂ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ।
11 When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; And when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me.
੧੧ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਧੰਨ ਆਖਦਾ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਜਦ ਕੋਈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਤਦ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿਖੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਖੀ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ,
12 For I delivered the poor, when they cried; And the fatherless, who had none to help him.
੧੨ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਮਸਕੀਨ ਨੂੰ ਛੁਡਾਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਦੁਹਾਈ ਦਿੰਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਯਤੀਮ ਨੂੰ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।
13 The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me, And I caused the heart of the widow to sing for joy.
੧੩ਨਾਸ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਰਕਤ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ, ਅਤੇ ਵਿਧਵਾ ਦਾ ਦਿਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਜੈਕਾਰਾ ਗਜਾਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
14 I clothed myself with righteousness, and it clothed itself with me; And justice was my robe and diadem.
੧੪ਮੈਂ ਧਰਮ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਨ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਲਿਬਾਸ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਮੇਰਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਚੋਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਪਗੜੀ ਜਿਹਾ ਸੀ,
15 I was eyes to the blind, And feet was I to the lame;
੧੫ਮੈਂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਲੰਗੜਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਪੈਰ ਠਹਿਰਦਾ ਸੀ,
16 I was a father to the poor, And the cause of him I knew not I searched out;
੧੬ਮੈਂ ਕੰਗਾਲਾਂ ਲਈ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਨਾਵਾਕਿਫ਼ ਦੇ ਮੁਕੱਦਮੇ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਪੜਤਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ
17 And I broke the teeth of the wicked, And plucked the spoil from his jaws.
੧੭ਮੈਂ ਬੁਰਿਆਰ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਦੰਦ ਭੰਨ ਸੁੱਟਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਦੰਦਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਖੋਹ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
18 Then said I, “I shall die in my nest; I shall multiply my days as the sand.
੧੮“ਤਦ ਮੈਂ ਸੋਚਦਾ ਸੀ, ਮੇਰੇ ਦਿਨ ਰੇਤ ਦੇ ਕਣਾਂ ਜਿੰਨੇ ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਹੋਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਸੇਬੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਰਾਂਗਾ।
19 My root is spread abroad to the waters, And the dew abideth on my branches.
੧੯ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਜੜ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਤੱਕ ਫੈਲਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਤ੍ਰੇਲ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਰਾਤ ਭਰ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
20 My glory is fresh with me, And my bow gathereth strength in my hand.”
੨੦ਮੇਰਾ ਪਰਤਾਪ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਧਣੁੱਖ ਮੇਰੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਦਾ ਨਵਾਂ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇਗਾ।
21 To me men gave ear, and waited, And kept silence for my counsel.
੨੧“ਲੋਕ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਉਡੀਕ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਲਈ ਚੁੱਪ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ।
22 To my words they made no reply, When my speech dropped down upon them.
੨੨ਮੇਰੇ ਬੋਲਣ ਦੇ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਉਹ ਫੇਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਸਨ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਮੀਂਹ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਰ੍ਹਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ।
23 Yea, they waited for me as for the rain; They opened their mouths wide as for the latter rain.
੨੩ਉਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਉਡੀਕ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਵਰਖਾ ਦੀ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਖੋਲ੍ਹਦੇ ਸਨ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਆਖਰੀ ਮੀਂਹ ਲਈ
24 If I smiled upon them, they believed it not; Nor did they cause the light of my countenance to fall.
੨੪ਜਦ ਉਹ ਬੇਆਸ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਸਕਰਾ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਚਾਨਣ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਮੁੱਲਾ ਸੀ।
25 When I came among them, I sat as chief; I dwelt as a king in the midst of an army, As a comforter among mourners.
੨੫ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਚੁਣਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੁੱਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਬਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਫੌਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਜਾ, ਉਸ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸੋਗੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਸੱਲੀ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।”
