Job 29
1 Moreover Job continued his discourse, and said:
૧અયૂબે પોતાના દ્ષ્ટાંતના વધારામાં કહ્યું કે,
2 O that I were as in months past, In the days when God was my guardian;
૨“અરે, જો આગળના વખતમાં હું હતો તેવો, અને જે વખતે ઈશ્વર મારું ધ્યાન રાખતા હતા તેવો હું હમણાં હોત તો કેવું સારું!
3 When his lamp shined over my head, And when by his light I walked through darkness!
૩ત્યારે તેમનો દીવો મારા પર ઝળહળતો હતો અને તેમના પ્રકાશથી હું અંધકારમાં ચાલી શકતો હતો.
4 As I was in the autumn of my days, When the friendship of God was over my tent;
૪જેવો હું મારી જુવાનીમાં હતો તેવો હું હોત તો કેવું સારું! ત્યારે તો મારા તંબુ પર ઈશ્વરની કૃપાદ્રષ્ટિ હતી,
5 When the Almighty was yet with me, And my children were around me;
૫તે વખતે સર્વશક્તિમાન ઈશ્વર મારી સાથે હતા અને મારાં સંતાનો મારી આસપાસ હતાં.
6 When I bathed my steps in milk, And the rock poured me out rivers of oil!
૬તે વખતે મારા પગ માખણથી ધોવાતા હતા, અને ખડકો મારે સારુ તેલની નદીઓ વહેવડાવતા હતા!
7 When I went forth to the gate by the city, And took my seat in the market-place,
૭ત્યારે તો હું નગરના દરવાજે જતો હતો, ત્યારે જાહેર સભાના સ્થળમાં હું મારું આસન તૈયાર કરાવતો હતો.
8 The young men saw me and hid themselves, And the aged arose and stood.
૮યુવાનો મને જોઈને સન્માન ખાતર ખસી જતા, અને વૃદ્ધો ઊભા થઈને મને માન આપતા હતા.
9 The princes refrained from speaking, And laid their hand upon their mouth.
૯સરદારો પણ મને જોઈને બોલવાનું બંધ કરી દેતા અને મોં પર તેઓના હાથ મૂકતા.
10 The nobles held their peace, And their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth.
૧૦અધિકારીઓ બોલતા બંધ થઈ જતા, તેઓની જીભ તેઓના તાળવે ચોંટી જતી.
11 When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; And when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me.
૧૧કેમ કે લોકો મારું સાંભળતા અને તેઓ મને ધન્યવાદ આપતા. અને જેઓ મને જોતા તેઓ સાક્ષી આપતા
12 For I delivered the poor, when they cried; And the fatherless, who had none to help him.
૧૨કેમ કે રડતાં ગરીબોને તથા તદ્દન નિરાશ્રિત અનાથો જેને મદદ કરનાર કોઈ ન હોય તેઓને પણ હું દુઃખમાંથી મુક્ત કરતો,
13 The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me, And I caused the heart of the widow to sing for joy.
૧૩જેઓ નાશ પામવાની અણી પર હતા તેઓ મને આશીર્વાદ આપતા; વિધવાઓના હ્રદયને હું હર્ષનાં ગીતો ગવડાવતો.
14 I clothed myself with righteousness, and it clothed itself with me; And justice was my robe and diadem.
૧૪મેં ન્યાયીપણાંને ધારણ કર્યું અને તેણે મને ધારણ કર્યો, મારો ન્યાય મારા માટે જામા તથા પાઘડી સમાન હતો.
15 I was eyes to the blind, And feet was I to the lame;
૧૫હું અંધજનોની આંખ સમાન હતો; હું અપંગ માટે પગ સમાન હતો.
16 I was a father to the poor, And the cause of him I knew not I searched out;
૧૬ગરીબો સાથે હું તેઓના પિતાની જેમ વર્તતો. જેઓને હું જાણતો ન હતો તેઓની અગત્ય જાણીને હું તેમને મદદ કરતો.
17 And I broke the teeth of the wicked, And plucked the spoil from his jaws.
૧૭હું દુષ્ટ લોકોના જડબાં તોડી નાખતો; હું તેઓના હાથમાંથી શિકાર ઝૂંટવી લેતો.
18 Then said I, “I shall die in my nest; I shall multiply my days as the sand.
૧૮ત્યારે હું કહેતો કે, હું મારા પરિવાર સાથે મરણ પામીશ. મારા દિવસો રેતીની જેમ અસંખ્ય થશે.
19 My root is spread abroad to the waters, And the dew abideth on my branches.
૧૯મારાં મૂળિયાં પાણી સુધી ફેલાયાં છે અને મારી ડાળીઓ ઝાકળથી ભીની થઈ છે.
20 My glory is fresh with me, And my bow gathereth strength in my hand.”
૨૦મારું ગૌરવ મારામાં તાજું છે. અને મારું ધનુષ્ય મારા હાથમાં નવું થતું જાય છે.
21 To me men gave ear, and waited, And kept silence for my counsel.
૨૧લોકો મારા બોધને ધ્યાનથી સાંભળતા હતા, તેઓ શાંતિ પૂર્વક મારી સલાહની રાહ જોતા હતા.
22 To my words they made no reply, When my speech dropped down upon them.
૨૨મારા બોલી રહ્યા પછી કોઈ દલીલ કરતા ન હતા. કેમ કે મારી સલાહ વરસાદની જેમ ટપક્યા કરતી.
23 Yea, they waited for me as for the rain; They opened their mouths wide as for the latter rain.
૨૩તેઓ વરસાદની જેમ મારી રાહ જોતા હતા; અને પાછલા વરસાદને માટે માણસ મુખ ખોલે તેમ તેઓ મારા માટે આતુર રહેતા.
24 If I smiled upon them, they believed it not; Nor did they cause the light of my countenance to fall.
૨૪જયારે તેઓ ઉદાસ થઈ ગયા હોય ત્યારે હું તેમની સામે સ્મિત આપતો; મારા આનંદી ચહેરાનું તેજ તેઓ ઉતારી પાડતા નહિ.
25 When I came among them, I sat as chief; I dwelt as a king in the midst of an army, As a comforter among mourners.
૨૫હતાશ થયેલા માણસને દિલાસો આપનાર તરીકે હું તેઓનો માર્ગ પસંદ કરતો; હું સરદાર તરીકે બિરાજતો, અને સૈન્યમાં રાજાની જેમ રહેતો.
