Job 28

1 Truly there is a vein for silver, And a place for gold, which men refine.

۱ «یقین برای نقره معدنی است، و به جهت طلا جایی است که آن را قال می‌گذارند.

2 Iron is obtained from earth, And stone is melted into copper.

۲ آهن از خاک گرفته می‌شود و مس ازسنگ گداخته می‌گردد.

3 Man putteth an end to darkness; He searcheth to the lowest depths For the stone of darkness and the shadow of death.

۳ مردم برای تاریکی حدمی گذارند و تا نهایت تمام تفحص می‌نمایند، تابه سنگهای ظلمت غلیظ و سایه موت.

4 From the place where they dwell they open a shaft; Forgotten by the feet, They hang down, they swing away from men.

۴ کانی دور از ساکنان زمین می‌کنند، از راه گذریان فراموش می‌شوند و دور از مردمان آویخته شده، به هر طرف متحرک می‌گردند.

5 The earth, out of which cometh bread, Is torn up underneath, as it were by fire.

۵ از زمین نان بیرون می‌آید، و ژرفیهایش مثل آتش سرنگون می‌شود.

6 Her stones are the place of sapphires, And she hath clods of gold for man.

۶ سنگهایش مکان یاقوت کبود است. وشمشهای طلا دارد.

7 The path thereto no bird knoweth, And the vulture's eye hath not seen it;

۷ آن راه را هیچ مرغ شکاری نمی داند، و چشم شاهین آن را ندیده است،

8 The fierce wild beast hath not trodden it; The lion hath not passed over it.

۸ وجانوران درنده بر آن قدم نزده‌اند، و شیر غران برآن گذر نکرده.

9 Man layeth his hand upon the rock; He upturneth mountains from their roots;

۹ دست خود را به سنگ خارا درازمی کنند، و کوهها را از بیخ برمی کنند.

10 He cleaveth out streams in the rocks, And his eye seeth every precious thing;

۱۰ نهرها ازصخره‌ها می‌کنند و چشم ایشان هر چیز نفیس رامی بیند.

11 He bindeth up the streams, that they trickle not, And bringeth hidden things to light.

۱۱ نهرها را از تراوش می‌بندند وچیزهای پنهان شده را به روشنایی بیرون می‌آورند.

12 But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding?

۱۲ اما حکمت از کجا پیدا می‌شود؟ وجای فطانت کجا است؟

13 Man knoweth not the price thereof, Nor can it be found in the land of the living.

۱۳ انسان قیمت آن رانمی داند و در زمین زندگان پیدا نمی شود.

14 The deep saith, It is not in me; And the sea saith, It is not with me.

۱۴ لجه می‌گوید که در من نیست، و دریا می‌گوید که نزدمن نمی باشد.

15 It cannot be gotten for gold, Nor shall silver be weighed out as the price thereof.

۱۵ زر خالص به عوضش داده نمی شود و نقره برای قیمتش سنجیده نمی گردد.

16 It cannot be bought with the gold of Ophir, With the precious onyx or the sapphire.

۱۶ به زر خالص اوفیر آن را قیمت نتوان کرد، و نه به جزع گرانبها و یاقوت کبود.

17 Gold and crystal are not to be compared with it; Nor can it be purchased with jewels of fine gold.

۱۷ با طلا و آبگینه آن را برابر نتوان کرد، و زیورهای طلای خالص بدل آن نمی شود.

18 No mention shall be made of coral or of crystal; For wisdom is more precious than pearls.

۱۸ مرجان و بلور مذکورنمی شود و قیمت حکمت از لعل گرانتر است.

19 The topaz of Ethiopia cannot equal it, Nor can it be purchased with pure gold.

۱۹ زبرجد حبش با آن مساوی نمی شود و به زرخالص سنجیده نمی گردد.

20 Whence then cometh wisdom? And where is the place of understanding?

۲۰ پس حکمت ازکجا می‌آید؟ و مکان فطانت کجا است؟

21 Since it is hidden from the eyes of all living, And kept close from the fowls of the air.

۲۱ ازچشم تمامی زندگان پنهان است، و از مرغان هوامخفی می‌باشد.

22 Destruction and Death say, We have heard a rumor of it with our ears.

۲۲ ابدون و موت می‌گویند که آوازه آن را به گوش خود شنیده‌ایم.

23 God knoweth the way to it; He knoweth its dwelling-place.

۲۳ خدا راه آن را درک می‌کند و او مکانش را می‌داند.

24 For he seeth to the ends of the earth, And surveyeth all things under the whole heaven.

۲۴ زیراکه او تا کرانه های زمین می‌نگرد و آنچه را که زیرتمامی آسمان است می‌بیند.

25 When he gave the winds their weight, And meted out the waters by measure;

۲۵ تا وزن از برای بادقرار دهد، و آبها را به میزان بپیماید.

26 When he prescribed a law to the rain, And a path to the thunder-flash, —

۲۶ هنگامی که قانونی برای باران قرار داد، و راهی برای سهام رعد،

27 Then did he see it, and make it known; He established it, and searched it out.

۲۷ آنگاه آن را دید و آن را بیان کرد. آن رامهیا ساخت و هم تفتیشش نمود.

28 But he said unto man, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, And to depart from evil is understanding.

۲۸ و به انسان گفت: اینک ترس خداوند حکمت است، و ازبدی اجتناب نمودن، فطانت می‌باشد.»
