Job 26
1 Then Job answered and said:
Felelt Jób és mondta:
2 How hast thou helped the weak, And strengthened the feeble arm!
Mint gyámolítottad a tehetetlent, segítetted az erőtlennek karját!
3 How hast thou counselled the ignorant, And revealed wisdom in fulness!
Mit tanácsoltál a bölcsességtelennek s valódi tudást bőven ismertettél!
4 For whom hast thou uttered these words? And whose spirit spake through thee?
Kinek adtál tudtul szavakat s kinek szelleme fakadt belőled?
5 Before Him the shades tremble Beneath the waters and their inhabitants.
Az árnyak megreszketnek alul a vizeken és lakóikon.
Meztelen az alvilág ő előtte s takarója az enyészet neki. (Sheol h7585)
7 He stretcheth out the north over empty space, And hangeth the earth upon nothing.
Kiterjeszti az Északot az űr fölé, lebegteti a földet a semmiségen;
8 He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds, And the cloud is not rent under them.
beköti a vizet felhőibe, s nem hasad meg felleg alatta;
9 He covereth the face of his throne, And spreadeth his clouds upon it.
befogja a trón felszínét, kiterítette reá fellegét.
10 He hath drawn a circular bound upon the waters, To the confines of light and darkness.
Határt vont a vizek színén odáig, hol vége van a világosságnak a sötétség mellett.
11 The pillars of heaven tremble And are confounded at his rebuke.
Az ég oszlopai megrázkódnak s elámulnak dorgálásától.
12 By his power he stilleth the sea, Yea, by his wisdom he smiteth its pride.
Erejével felkavarta a tengert s értelmével összezúzta, Ráhábot.
13 By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; His hand hath formed the fleeing Serpent.
Fuvallata által derültté válik az ég, átszúrta keze a futó kígyót.
14 Lo! these are but the borders of his works; How faint the whisper we have heard of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand?
Lám, ezek útjainak szélei, mily csekély nesz az, a mit róla hallunk, de hatalmának dörgését ki foghatja föl!
