Job 21
1 But Job answered and said:
পরে ইয়োব উত্তর দিলেন:
2 Hear attentively my words, And let this be your consolation.
“আমার কথা মন দিয়ে শোনো; এই হোক সেই সান্ত্বনা যা তোমরা আমাকে দিতে পারো।
3 Bear with me, that I may speak; And after I have spoken, mock on!
আমি কথা বলার সময় তোমরা একটু সহ্য করো, ও আমি কথা বলার পর, তোমরা আমাকে বিদ্রুপ কোরো।
4 Is my complaint concerning man? Why then should I not be angry?
“আমার অভিযোগ কি কোনও মানুষের বিরুদ্ধে? আমি কেন অধৈর্য হব না?
5 Look upon me, and be astonished, And lay your hand upon your mouth!
আমার দিকে তাকাও ও তোমরা অবাক হয়ে যাবে; তোমাদের মুখে হাত চাপা দাও।
6 When I think of it, I am confounded; Trembling taketh hold of my flesh.
একথা চিন্তা করে আমি আতঙ্কিত হয়ে যাই; আমার শরীর কেঁপে ওঠে।
7 Why is it that the wicked live, Grow old, yea, become mighty in substance?
দুষ্টেরা কেন বেঁচে থাকে, কেন তারা বৃদ্ধ হয় ও তাদের ক্ষমতা বাড়ে?
8 Their children are established in their sight with them, And their offspring before their eyes.
তাদের চারপাশে তারা তাদের সন্তানদের প্রতিষ্ঠিত হতে দেখে, তাদের চোখের সামনেই তাদের বংশধরেরা প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়।
9 Their houses are in peace, without fear, And the rod of God cometh not upon them.
তাদের ঘরগুলি নিরাপদ ও ভয়মুক্ত; ঈশ্বরের লাঠি তাদের উপরে পড়ে না।
10 Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; Their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.
তাদের ষাঁড়গুলি বংশবৃদ্ধি করতে ব্যর্থ হয় না; তাদের গাভীগুলি বাছুরের জন্ম দেয় ও তাদের গর্ভস্রাব হয় না।
11 They send forth their little ones like a flock, And their children dance.
তারা তাদের সন্তানদের মেষপালের মতো বাইরে পাঠায়; তাদের শিশুসন্তানেরা নেচে বেড়ায়।
12 They sing to the timbrel and harp, And rejoice at the sound of the pipe.
তারা খঞ্জনি ও বীণা বাজিয়ে গান গায়; তারা বাঁশির সুরে মাতোয়ারা হয়।
সমৃদ্ধশালী হয়ে দিনযাপন করে ও শান্তিতে কবরে চলে যায়। (Sheol h7585)
14 And yet they say unto God, “Depart from us! We desire not the knowledge of thy ways!
তবুও তারা ঈশ্বরকে বলে, ‘আমাদের ছেড়ে দাও! তোমার পথ জানার কোনো ইচ্ছাই আমাদের নেই।
15 Who is the Almighty, that we should serve him? And what will it profit us, if we pray to him?”
সর্বশক্তিমান কে, যে আমাদের তাঁর সেবা করতে হবে? তাঁর কাছে প্রার্থনা করে আমাদের কী লাভ হবে?’
16 [[Ye say, ]] “Lo! their prosperity is not secure in their hands! Far from me be the conduct of the wicked!”
কিন্তু তাদের শ্রীবৃদ্ধি তাদের নিজেদের হাতে নেই, তাই দুষ্টদের পরিকল্পনা থেকে আমি দূরে সরে দাঁড়াই।
17 How often is it, that the lamp of the wicked is put out? And that destruction cometh upon them, And that He dispenseth to them tribulations in his anger?
“তবুও দুষ্টদের প্রদীপ কতবার নিভে যায়? কতবার তাদের উপরে চরম দুর্দশা নেমে আসে, ক্রোধের বশবর্তী হয়ে ঈশ্বর তাদের এই পরিণতি ঘটান?
18 How often are they as stubble before the wind, Or as chaff, which the whirlwind carrieth away?
কতবার তারা বাতাসের সামনে পড়া খড়ের মতো, ও প্রবল বাতাস দ্বারা তুষের মতো উড়ে যায়?
19 “But” [[say ye]] “God layeth up his iniquity for his children.” Let him requite the offender, and let him feel it!
বলা হয়, ‘দুষ্টদের প্রাপ্য শাস্তি ঈশ্বর তাদের সন্তানদের জন্য সংরক্ষিত করে রাখেন।’ তিনিই দুষ্টদের পাপের প্রতিফল দেন, যেন তারা নিজেরাই তা ভোগ করে!
20 Let his own eyes see his destruction, And let him drink of the wrath of the Almighty!
তাদের নিজেদের চোখই তাদের সর্বনাশ দেখুক; তারা সর্বশক্তিমানের ক্রোধ পান করুক।
21 For what concern hath he for his household after him, When the number of his own months is completed?
কারণ তাদের জন্য নির্ধারিত মাসগুলি শেষ হয়ে যাওয়ার পর তাদের ছেড়ে যাওয়া পরিবারগুলির কী হবে সে বিষয়ে তারা কি আদৌ চিন্তা করে?
22 Who then shall impart knowledge to God, —To him that judgeth the highest?
“কেউ কি ঈশ্বরকে জ্ঞান শিক্ষা দিতে পারে, যেহেতু তিনি উচ্চতমেরও বিচার করেন?
23 One dieth in the fulness of his prosperity, Being wholly at ease and quiet;
কেউ কেউ পূর্ণ প্রাণশক্তি থাকাকালীনই মারা যায়, যখন সে পুরোপুরি নিরাপদ ও স্বচ্ছন্দে থাকে,
24 His sides are full of fat, And his bones moist with marrow.
তার শরীর যথেষ্ট পুষ্ট থাকে, অস্থিও মজ্জা-সমৃদ্ধ অবস্থায় থাকে।
25 Another dieth in bitterness of soul, And hath not tasted pleasure.
অন্য কেউ আবার প্রাণের তিক্ততা নিয়েই মারা যায়, কখনও ভালো কোনো কিছুর স্বাদ না পেয়েই মারা যায়।
26 Alike they lie down in the dust, And the worms cover them.
পাশাপাশিই তারা ধুলোয় পড়ে থাকে, ও কীটপতঙ্গ তাদের উভয়কেই ঢেকে রাখে।
27 Behold, I know your thoughts, And the devices by which ye wrong me.
“আমি বেশ ভালোই জানি তোমরা কী ভাবছ, যেসব ফন্দি এঁটে তোমরা আমার প্রতি অন্যায় করবে, আমি সেগুলিও জানি।
28 For ye say, “Where is the house of the oppressor, And where the dwelling-places of the wicked?”
তোমরা বলছ, ‘সেই মহামান্যের বাড়িটি কোথায়, সেই তাঁবুগুলি কোথায়, যেখানে দুষ্টেরা বসবাস করত?’
29 Have ye never inquired of travellers, And do ye not know their tokens,
তোমরা কি কখনও পথিকদের জিজ্ঞাসা করোনি? তোমরা কি তাদের বিবরণ বিবেচনা করোনি—
30 That the wicked is spared in the day of destruction, And that he is borne to his grave in the day of wrath?
যে দুষ্টেরা চরম দুর্দশাময় দিনের হাত থেকে নিষ্কৃতি পায়, ক্রোধের দিনের হাত থেকেও তারা মুক্তি পায়?
31 Who will charge him with his conduct to his face, And who will requite him for the evil he hath done?
কে তাদের মুখের উপরে তাদের আচরণের নিন্দা করবে? কে তাদের কৃতকর্মের প্রতিফল তাদের দেবে?
32 Even this man is borne with honor to the grave; Yea, he watcheth over his tomb.
তাদের কবরে বয়ে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়, ও তাদের সমাধিতে পাহারা বসানো হয়।
33 Sweet to him are the sods of the valley: And all men move after him, As multitudes without number before him.
উপত্যকার মাটি তাদের কাছে মিষ্টি লাগে; প্রত্যেকে তাদের অনুগামী হয়, ও অসংখ্য জনতা তাদের আগে আগে যায়।
34 Why then do ye offer your vain consolations? Your answers continue false.
“অতএব তোমরা কীভাবে তোমাদের আবোল-তাবোল কথা দিয়ে আমাকে সান্ত্বনা দেবে? তোমাদের উত্তরে মিথ্যাভাষণ ছাড়া আর কিছুই অবশিষ্ট নেই!”
