Job 20
1 Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said:
Sô-pha, người Na-a-ma, đáp:
2 For this do my thoughts lead me to reply, And for this is my ardor within me.
“Tôi phải trả lời vì tôi rất bối rối.
3 I have heard my shameful rebuke; And the spirit, from my understanding, answereth for me.
Tôi đã nghe lời trách móc sỉ nhục tôi, nhưng sự hiểu biết đã giục tôi đáp lại.
4 Knowest thou not, that from the days of old, From the time when man was placed upon the earth,
Anh có biết: Từ thuở khai thiên lập địa khi loài người mới có mặt trên thế gian,
5 The triumphing of the wicked hath been short, And the joy of the impious but for a moment?
kẻ ác dù có hân hoan chỉ tạm thời, và niềm vui của kẻ vô đạo sớm tàn tắt?
6 Though his greatness mount up to the heavens, And his head reach to the clouds,
Dù kiêu hãnh của nó lên đến tận trời đầu chạm tới các tầng mây,
7 Yet shall he perish for ever, and be mingled with dust; They who saw him shall say, Where is he?
nó cũng sẽ bị tiêu diệt đời đời, bị ném đi giống như phân của nó. Ai từng quen biết nó sẽ hỏi: ‘Nó ở đâu?’
8 He shall flee away like a dream, and shall not be found; Yea, he shall disappear like a vision of the nigh.
Nó tiêu tan như giấc mơ. Bị xóa đi như cơn mộng ban đêm.
9 The eye also which saw him shall see him no more, And his dwelling-place shall never more behold him.
Vừa thấy đó, nó liền mất hút. Chốn quê hương chẳng biết nó là ai.
10 His sons shall seek the favor of the poor, And their hands shall give back his wealth.
Con cái nó sẽ xin ân huệ từ người nghèo khổ, chính tay nó phải trả lại của cải nó đã chiếm.
11 His bones are full of his youth, But they shall lie down with him in the dust.
Xương cốt nó đầy sinh lực thanh xuân, nhưng cũng phải nằm dưới cát bụi với nó.
12 Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, Though he hide it under his tongue,
Dù miệng nó cho tội ác là ngọt bùi, và giấu nọc độc dưới ba tấc lưỡi.
13 Though he cherish it, and will not part with it, And keep it fast in his mouth,
Dẫu nó cưu mang tội ác, không lìa bỏ, ngậm trong miệng, chẳng nhả ra.
14 Yet his meat shall be changed within him, And become to him the poison of asps.
Thức ăn nó nuốt vào bụng sẽ sình thối, trở thành mật rắn hổ trong người.
15 He hath glutted himself with riches, And he shall throw them up again; Yea, God shall cast them out of his body.
Nó nuốt của cải vào rồi phải mửa ra. Của phi nghĩa Đức Chúa Trời không cho tiêu hóa.
16 He shall suck the poison of asps; The tongue of the viper shall destroy him.
Nó sẽ mút nọc độc rắn hổ. Lưỡi rắn lục sẽ giết chết nó.
17 He shall never see the flowing streams, And the rivers of honey and milk.
Nó chẳng bao giờ được thấy các dòng sông dầu ô-liu hay dòng suối mật ong và dòng mỡ sữa.
18 The fruits of his toil he shall give back, and shall not enjoy them: It is substance to be restored, and he shall not rejoice therein.
Những gì nó bon chen kiếm được phải trả lại. Nó chẳng được hưởng lợi gì trong những cuộc bán buôn.
19 Because he hath oppressed and abandoned the poor, And seized upon the house which he did not build;
Vì nó áp bức và bỏ bê người nghèo khổ. Cướp đoạt nhà cửa nó không xây.
20 Because he knew no rest in his bosom, He shall not save that in which he delighteth.
Nó luôn tham lam và không bao giờ thấy đủ. Thứ gì nó đã muốn mà có thể thoát được.
21 Because nothing escaped his greediness, His prosperity shall not endure.
Chẳng thứ gì còn sót lại khi nó đã ăn. Nên cuộc giàu sang nó thật chóng qua.
22 In the fulness of his abundance he shall be brought low; Every hand of the wretched shall come upon him.
Đang dư dật, nó bỗng ra túng ngặt và tai họa đổ xuống liên miên.
23 He shall, indeed, have wherewith to fill himself: God shall send upon him the fury of his anger, And rain it down upon him for his food.
Đức Chúa Trời trút lên nó cơn thịnh nộ. Tuôn tràn như mưa ngàn thác lũ.
24 If he fleeth from the iron weapon, The bow of brass shall pierce him through.
Dù nó thoát khỏi gươm giáo sắt, mũi tên đồng sẽ đâm thủng nó.
25 He draweth the arrow, and it cometh forth from his body; Yea, the glittering steel cometh out of his gall. Terrors are upon him;
Khi rút mũi tên ra khỏi người nó, đầu mũi tên sáng loáng đã cắm vào gan. Nỗi kinh hoàng của sự chết chụp lấy nó.
26 Calamity of every kind is treasured up for him. A fire not blown shall consume him; It shall consume whatever is left in his tent.
Tối tăm mờ mịt rình rập tài sản nó. Lửa thiên nhiên sẽ thiêu cháy nó, tiêu diệt những gì sót lại trong lều nó.
27 The heavens shall reveal his iniquity, And the earth shall rise up against him.
Tội ác nó các tầng trời tố giác, và đất nổi phong ba chống đối kẻ gian tà.
28 The substance of his house shall disappear; It shall flow away in the day of His wrath.
Một cơn lũ cuốn trôi nhà nó với của cải. Trong ngày Đức Chúa Trời nổi giận.
29 Such is the portion of the wicked man from God, And the inheritance appointed for him by the Almighty.
Số phận ấy Đức Chúa Trời đã dành cho kẻ ác. Là cơ nghiệp Ngài dành cho nó.”
