Job 20
1 Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said:
तब नआमथवासी ज़ोफर ने कहना प्रारंभ किया:
2 For this do my thoughts lead me to reply, And for this is my ardor within me.
“मेरे विचारों ने मुझे प्रत्युत्तर के लिए प्रेरित किया क्योंकि मेरा अंतर्मन उत्तेजित हो गया था.
3 I have heard my shameful rebuke; And the spirit, from my understanding, answereth for me.
मैंने उस झिड़की की ओर ध्यान दिया, जो मेरा अपमान कर रही थी इसका भाव समझकर ही मैंने प्रत्युत्तर का निश्चय किया है.
4 Knowest thou not, that from the days of old, From the time when man was placed upon the earth,
“क्या आरंभ से तुम्हें इसकी वास्तविकता मालूम थी, उस अवसर से जब पृथ्वी पर मनुष्य की सृष्टि हुई थी,
5 The triumphing of the wicked hath been short, And the joy of the impious but for a moment?
अल्पकालिक ही होता है, दुर्वृत्त का उल्लास तथा क्षणिक होता है पापिष्ठ का आनंद.
6 Though his greatness mount up to the heavens, And his head reach to the clouds,
भले ही उसका नाम आकाश तुल्य ऊंचा हो तथा उसका सिर मेघों तक जा पहुंचा हो,
7 Yet shall he perish for ever, and be mingled with dust; They who saw him shall say, Where is he?
वह कूड़े समान पूर्णतः मिट जाता है; जिन्होंने उसे देखा था, वे पूछते रह जाएंगे, ‘कहां है वह?’
8 He shall flee away like a dream, and shall not be found; Yea, he shall disappear like a vision of the nigh.
वह तो स्वप्न समान टूट जाता है, तब उसे खोजने पर भी पाया नहीं जा सकता, रात्रि के दर्शन समान उसकी स्मृति मिट जाती है.
9 The eye also which saw him shall see him no more, And his dwelling-place shall never more behold him.
जिन नेत्रों ने उसे देखा था, उनके लिए अब वह अदृश्य है; न ही वह स्थान, जिसके सामने वह बना रहता था.
10 His sons shall seek the favor of the poor, And their hands shall give back his wealth.
उसके पुत्रों की कृपा दीनों पर बनी रहती है तथा वह अपने हाथों से अपनी संपत्ति लौटाता है.
11 His bones are full of his youth, But they shall lie down with him in the dust.
उसकी हड्डियां उसके यौवन से भरी हैं किंतु यह शौर्य उसी के साथ धूल में जा मिलता है.
12 Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, Though he hide it under his tongue,
“यद्यपि उसके मुख को अनिष्ट का स्वाद लग चुका है और वह इसे अपनी जीभ के नीचे छिपाए रखता है,
13 Though he cherish it, and will not part with it, And keep it fast in his mouth,
यद्यपि वह इसकी आकांक्षा करता रहता है, वह अपने मुख में इसे छिपाए रखता है,
14 Yet his meat shall be changed within him, And become to him the poison of asps.
फिर भी उसका भोजन उसके पेट में उथल-पुथल करता है; वह वहां नाग के विष में परिणत हो जाता है.
15 He hath glutted himself with riches, And he shall throw them up again; Yea, God shall cast them out of his body.
उसने तो धन-संपत्ति निगल रखी है, किंतु उसे उगलना ही होगा; परमेश्वर ही उन्हें उसके पेट से बाहर निकाल देंगे.
16 He shall suck the poison of asps; The tongue of the viper shall destroy him.
वह तो नागों के विष को चूस लेता है; सर्प की जीभ उसका संहार कर देती है.
17 He shall never see the flowing streams, And the rivers of honey and milk.
वह नदियों की ओर दृष्टि नहीं कर पाएगा, उन नदियों की ओर, जिनमें दूध एवं दही बह रहे हैं.
18 The fruits of his toil he shall give back, and shall not enjoy them: It is substance to be restored, and he shall not rejoice therein.
वह अपनी उपलब्धियों को लौटाने लगा है, इसका उपभोग करना उसके लिए संभव नहीं है; व्यापार में मिले लाभ का वह आनंद न ले सकेगा.
19 Because he hath oppressed and abandoned the poor, And seized upon the house which he did not build;
क्योंकि उसने कंगालों पर अत्याचार किए हैं तथा उनका त्याग कर दिया है; उसने वह घर हड़प लिया है, जिसका निर्माण उसने नहीं किया है.
20 Because he knew no rest in his bosom, He shall not save that in which he delighteth.
“इसलिये कि उसका मन विचलित था; वह अपनी अभिलाषित वस्तुओं को अपने अधिकार में न रख सका.
21 Because nothing escaped his greediness, His prosperity shall not endure.
खाने के लिये कुछ भी शेष न रह गया; तब अब उसकी समृद्धि अल्पकालीन ही रह गई है.
22 In the fulness of his abundance he shall be brought low; Every hand of the wretched shall come upon him.
जब वह परिपूर्णता की स्थिति में होगा तब भी वह संतुष्ट न रह सकेगा; हर एक व्यक्ति, जो इस समय यातना की स्थिति में होगा, उसके विरुद्ध उठ खड़ा होगा.
23 He shall, indeed, have wherewith to fill himself: God shall send upon him the fury of his anger, And rain it down upon him for his food.
जब वह पेट भरके खा चुका होगा, परमेश्वर अपने प्रचंड कोप को उस पर उंडेल देंगे, तभी यह कोप की वृष्टि उस पर बरस पड़ेगी.
24 If he fleeth from the iron weapon, The bow of brass shall pierce him through.
संभव है कि वह लौह शस्त्र के प्रहार से बच निकले किंतु कांस्यबाण तो उसे बेध ही देगा.
25 He draweth the arrow, and it cometh forth from his body; Yea, the glittering steel cometh out of his gall. Terrors are upon him;
यह बाण उसकी देह में से खींचा जाएगा, और यह उसकी पीठ की ओर से बाहर आएगा, उसकी चमकदार नोक उसके पित्त से सनी हुई है. वह आतंक से भयभीत है.
26 Calamity of every kind is treasured up for him. A fire not blown shall consume him; It shall consume whatever is left in his tent.
घोर अंधकार उसकी संपत्ति की प्रतीक्षा में है. अग्नि ही उसे चट कर जाएगी. यह अग्नि उसके तंबू के बचे हुओं को भस्म कर जाएगी.
27 The heavens shall reveal his iniquity, And the earth shall rise up against him.
स्वर्ग ही उसके पाप को उजागर करेगा; पृथ्वी भी उसके विरुद्ध खड़ी होगी.
28 The substance of his house shall disappear; It shall flow away in the day of His wrath.
उसके वंश का विस्तार समाप्त हो जाएगा, परमेश्वर के कोप-दिवस पर उसकी संपत्ति नाश हो जाएगी.
29 Such is the portion of the wicked man from God, And the inheritance appointed for him by the Almighty.
यही होगा परमेश्वर द्वारा नियत दुर्वृत्त का भाग, हां, वह उत्तराधिकार, जो उसे याहवेह द्वारा दिया गया है.”
