Job 14

1 Man, that is born of woman, Is of few days, and full of trouble.

۱ قلیل الایام و پر از زحمات است.

2 He cometh forth as a flower, and is cut down; He fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.

۲ مثل گل می‌روید و بریده می‌شود. و مثل سایه می‌گریزد و نمی ماند.

3 And dost thou fix thine eyes upon such a one? And dost thou bring me into judgment with thee?

۳ و آیا بر چنین شخص چشمان خود را می‌گشایی و مرا با خود به محاکمه می‌آوری؟

4 Who can produce a clean thing from an unclean? Not one.

۴ کیست که چیز طاهر را ازچیز نجس بیرون آورد؟ هیچکس نیست.

5 Seeing that his days are determined, And the number of his months, with thee, And that thou hast appointed him bounds which he cannot pass,

۵ چونکه روزهایش مقدر است و شماره ماههایش نزد توست و حدی از برایش گذاشته‌ای که از آن تجاوز نتواند نمود.

6 O turn thine eyes from him, and let him rest, That he may enjoy, as a hireling, his day!

۶ از او رو بگردان تاآرام گیرد. و مثل مزدور روزهای خود را به انجام رساند.

7 For there is hope for a tree, If it be cut down, that it will sprout again, And that its tender branches will not fail;

۷ «زیرا برای درخت امیدی است که اگر بریده شود باز خواهد رویید، و رمونهایش نابودنخواهد شد.

8 Though its root may have grown old in the earth, And though its trunk be dead upon the ground,

۸ اگر‌چه ریشه‌اش در زمین کهنه شود، و تنه آن در خاک بمیرد.

9 Through the scent of water it will bud, And put forth boughs, like a young plant.

۹ لیکن از بوی آب، رمونه می‌کند و مثل نهال نو، شاخه‌ها می‌آورد.

10 But man dieth, and he is gone! Man expireth, and where is he?

۱۰ اما مرد می‌میرد و فاسد می‌شود و آدمی چون جان را سپارد کجا است؟

11 The waters fail from the lake; And the stream wasteth and drieth up;

۱۱ چنانکه آبها از دریازایل می‌شود، و نهرها ضایع و خشک می‌گردد.

12 So man lieth down, and riseth not; Till the heavens be no more, he shall not awake, Nor be roused from his sleep.

۱۲ همچنین انسان می‌خوابد و برنمی خیزد، تانیست شدن آسمانها بیدار نخواهند شد و ازخواب خود برانگیخته نخواهند گردید.

13 O that thou wouldst hide me in the under-world! That thou wouldst conceal me till thy wrath be past! That thou wouldst appoint me a time, and then remember me! (Sheol h7585)

۱۳ کاش که مرا در هاویه پنهان کنی؛ و تا غضبت فرو نشیند، مرا مستور سازی؛ و برایم زمانی تعیین نمایی تا مرا به یاد آوری. (Sheol h7585)

14 If a man die, can he live again? All the days of my war-service would I wait, Till my change should come.

۱۴ اگر مرد بمیرد باردیگر زنده شود؛ در تمامی روزهای مجاهده خودانتظار خواهم کشید، تا وقت تبدیل من برسد.

15 Thou wilt call, and I will answer thee; Thou wilt have compassion upon the work of thy hands!

۱۵ تو ندا خواهی کرد و من جواب خواهم داد، و به صنعت دست خود مشتاق خواهی شد.

16 But now thou numberest my steps; Thou watchest over my sins.

۱۶ اما الان قدمهای مرا می‌شماری و آیا برگناه من پاسبانی نمی کنی؟

17 My transgression is sealed up in a bag; Yea, thou addest unto my iniquity.

۱۷ معصیت من در کیسه مختوم است. و خطای مرا مسدود ساخته‌ای.

18 As the mountain falling cometh to nought, And the rock is removed from its place;

۱۸ به درستی کوهی که می‌افتد فانی می‌شود وصخره از مکانش منتقل می‌گردد.

19 As the waters wear away the stones, And the floods wash away the dust of the earth, So thou destroyest the hope of man.

۱۹ آب سنگهارا می‌ساید، و سیلهایش خاک زمین را می‌برد. همچنین امید انسان را تلف می‌کنی،

20 Thou prevailest against him continually, and he perisheth; Thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.

۲۰ بر او تا به ابد غلبه می‌کنی، پس می‌رود. روی او را تغییرمی دهی و او را رها می‌کنی.

21 His sons come to honor, but he knoweth it not; Or they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not.

۲۱ پسرانش به عزت می‌رسند و او نمی داند. یا به ذلت می‌افتند و ایشان را به نظر نمی آورد.

22 But his flesh shall have pain for itself alone; For itself alone shall his soul mourn.

۲۲ برای خودش فقط جسد اواز درد بی‌تاب می‌شود. و برای خودش جان اوماتم می‌گیرد.»
