Job 14
1 Man, that is born of woman, Is of few days, and full of trouble.
੧“ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੋ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਥੋੜ੍ਹੇ ਹੀ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
2 He cometh forth as a flower, and is cut down; He fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.
੨ਉਹ ਫੁੱਲ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਖਿੜਦਾ, ਫੇਰ ਤੋੜਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਛਾਵੇਂ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਢੱਲ਼ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਠਹਿਰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
3 And dost thou fix thine eyes upon such a one? And dost thou bring me into judgment with thee?
੩ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ?
4 Who can produce a clean thing from an unclean? Not one.
੪ਕੌਣ ਅਸ਼ੁੱਧ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸ਼ੁੱਧ ਵਸਤੂ ਕੱਢ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ।
5 Seeing that his days are determined, And the number of his months, with thee, And that thou hast appointed him bounds which he cannot pass,
੫ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਠਹਿਰਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਤੂੰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੱਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਪਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।
6 O turn thine eyes from him, and let him rest, That he may enjoy, as a hireling, his day!
੬ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਹਟਾ ਲੈ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਅਰਾਮ ਕਰੇ, ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਉਹ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਨ ਪੂਰੇ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਲਵੇ।
7 For there is hope for a tree, If it be cut down, that it will sprout again, And that its tender branches will not fail;
੭“ਰੁੱਖ ਲਈ ਤਾਂ ਆਸ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਜੇ ਉਹ ਕੱਟਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਫੇਰ ਫੁੱਟੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੂੰਬਲਾਂ ਨਾ ਮੁੱਕਣਗੀਆਂ।
8 Though its root may have grown old in the earth, And though its trunk be dead upon the ground,
੮ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜੜ੍ਹ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੁਰਾਣੀ ਪੈ ਜਾਵੇ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਟੁੰਡ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਲ਼ ਜਾਵੇ
9 Through the scent of water it will bud, And put forth boughs, like a young plant.
੯ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਖੁਸ਼ਬੂ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੂੰਬਲਾਂ ਫੁੱਟ ਨਿੱਕਲਣਗੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਬੂਟੇ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਨਿੱਕਲਣਗੀਆਂ।
10 But man dieth, and he is gone! Man expireth, and where is he?
੧੦ਪਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੱਬਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਜਦ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਹੈ?
11 The waters fail from the lake; And the stream wasteth and drieth up;
੧੧ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਘੱਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਦਰਿਆ ਸੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
12 So man lieth down, and riseth not; Till the heavens be no more, he shall not awake, Nor be roused from his sleep.
੧੨ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਲੇਟਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਉੱਠਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਟਲ ਨਾ ਜਾਣ, ਉਹ ਨਾ ਜਾਗਣਗੇ, ਨਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਤੋਂ ਜਗਾਏ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
13 O that thou wouldst hide me in the under-world! That thou wouldst conceal me till thy wrath be past! That thou wouldst appoint me a time, and then remember me! (Sheol h7585)
੧੩“ਕਾਸ਼ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅਧੋਲੋਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੁਕਾ ਦੇਵੇਂ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਛੁਪਾ ਰੱਖੇਂ ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਤੇਰਾ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨਾ ਹਟੇ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਵੇਲਾ ਠਹਿਰਾਵੇਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰੇਂ! (Sheol h7585)
14 If a man die, can he live again? All the days of my war-service would I wait, Till my change should come.
੧੪ਜੇਕਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਰ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਉਹ ਫੇਰ ਜੀਵੇਗਾ? ਆਪਣੀ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਟਹਿਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੈਂ ਉਡੀਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਾਂਗਾ, ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਮੇਰੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਨਾ ਆਵੇ।
15 Thou wilt call, and I will answer thee; Thou wilt have compassion upon the work of thy hands!
੧੫ਤੂੰ ਪੁਕਾਰੇਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਹਵੇਂਗਾ।
16 But now thou numberest my steps; Thou watchest over my sins.
੧੬ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਦਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗਿਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦਾ?
17 My transgression is sealed up in a bag; Yea, thou addest unto my iniquity.
੧੭ਮੇਰਾ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਮੋਹਰ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਥੈਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੰਦ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਬਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੀਉਂਕੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
18 As the mountain falling cometh to nought, And the rock is removed from its place;
੧੮“ਪਰ ਪਰਬਤ ਡਿੱਗਦਾ-ਡਿੱਗਦਾ ਘਸ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਚੱਟਾਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਥਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਰਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
19 As the waters wear away the stones, And the floods wash away the dust of the earth, So thou destroyest the hope of man.
੧੯ਪਾਣੀ ਪੱਥਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਘਸਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦਾ ਹੜ੍ਹ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੀ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਵਹਾ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਟਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
20 Thou prevailest against him continually, and he perisheth; Thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.
੨੦ਤੂੰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਬਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਚੱਲਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਚਿਹਰਾ ਬਦਲ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਢ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ!
21 His sons come to honor, but he knoweth it not; Or they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not.
੨੧ਉਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਹਲਕੇ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ
22 But his flesh shall have pain for itself alone; For itself alone shall his soul mourn.
੨੨ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਦੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਲਈ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੋਗ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।”
