Job 14
1 Man, that is born of woman, Is of few days, and full of trouble.
"Der Mensch, der Weibgeborene, kurzlebig ist er, voller Hast.
2 He cometh forth as a flower, and is cut down; He fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.
Wie eine Blume blüht er und verwelkt, und wie ein Schatten fliegt er schnell vorbei.
3 And dost thou fix thine eyes upon such a one? And dost thou bring me into judgment with thee?
Ja, gegen einen solchen öffnest Du Dein Auge und ziehst mich ins Gericht vor Dich?
4 Who can produce a clean thing from an unclean? Not one.
Wie könnte von dem Unreinen ein Reiner kommen? Nicht einer!
5 Seeing that his days are determined, And the number of his months, with thee, And that thou hast appointed him bounds which he cannot pass,
Sind seine Tage ihm bestimmt, alsdann ist seiner Monde Zahl nur Dir bekannt. Du setzest ihm ein Ziel, unüberschreitbar.
6 O turn thine eyes from him, and let him rest, That he may enjoy, as a hireling, his day!
Blick weg von ihm! Laß ab, bis er die Tagesarbeit abgeliefert, dem Fröner gleicht!
7 For there is hope for a tree, If it be cut down, that it will sprout again, And that its tender branches will not fail;
Ein Baum kann guten Trostes sein. Wird er gefällt, so sproßt er wieder; sein Wurzelsprößling bleibt nicht aus.
8 Though its root may have grown old in the earth, And though its trunk be dead upon the ground,
Wird seine Wurzel in der Erde alt und stirbt sein Stamm im Boden ab,
9 Through the scent of water it will bud, And put forth boughs, like a young plant.
vom Wasserdunste sproßt er neu und treibt gleich einem jungen Reise Zweige.
10 But man dieth, and he is gone! Man expireth, and where is he?
Doch stirbt der Mann, so liegt er kraftlos da, und scheidet hin ein Mensch, wo ist er dann?
11 The waters fail from the lake; And the stream wasteth and drieth up;
In Menge mögen aus dem Meere Wasser fließen und Ströme ausgetrocknet werden und versiegen,
12 So man lieth down, and riseth not; Till the heavens be no more, he shall not awake, Nor be roused from his sleep.
der Mensch bleibt dennoch liegen und steht nicht wieder auf. Sie wachen nimmer auf, bis daß die Himmel schwinden. Sie werden aus dem Schlafe nicht erweckt.
13 O that thou wouldst hide me in the under-world! That thou wouldst conceal me till thy wrath be past! That thou wouldst appoint me a time, and then remember me! (Sheol h7585)
Ach, daß Du mich doch in der Unterwelt verbärgest, verstecktest mich, bis sich Dein Zorn gestillt! Ach, daß Du mir doch eine Zeit bestimmtest und danach mein gedächtest! - (Sheol h7585)
14 If a man die, can he live again? All the days of my war-service would I wait, Till my change should come.
Wenn jemand stirbt, wird er nochmals lebendig? - Ich harrte gerne meine Dienstzeit aus, bis meine Ablösung erschiene.
15 Thou wilt call, and I will answer thee; Thou wilt have compassion upon the work of thy hands!
Du riefest, und ich gäbe Antwort Dir, wenn Du nach Deiner Hände Werk verlangtest!
16 But now thou numberest my steps; Thou watchest over my sins.
Dann zähltest Du wohl meine Schritte, auf meine Sünden nimmer achtend.
17 My transgression is sealed up in a bag; Yea, thou addest unto my iniquity.
Dann würde fest versiegelt mein Vergehn in einem Beutel; mein Schuldregister klebtest Du dann zu.
18 As the mountain falling cometh to nought, And the rock is removed from its place;
Ein Berg stürzt ein, zerfällt; von seiner Stelle wird ein Fels gerissen.
19 As the waters wear away the stones, And the floods wash away the dust of the earth, So thou destroyest the hope of man.
Alsdann zerreibt das Wasser diese Felsentrümmer, und starke Regegüsse lösen sie zu Erdenstaub. So ganz läßt Du des Menschen Hoffen auch zunichte werden.
20 Thou prevailest against him continually, and he perisheth; Thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.
Du packst ihn an, daß er auf ewig geht, entstellst sein Antlitz, schickst ihn fort.
21 His sons come to honor, but he knoweth it not; Or they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not.
Die Kinder kommen auf; er weiß es nicht. Sie werden arm; ihn kümmert's nicht.
22 But his flesh shall have pain for itself alone; For itself alone shall his soul mourn.
Am eigenen Leid hat er genug; sein Schatten trauert für sich hin."
