Jeremiah 1
1 The words of Jeremiah, the son of Hilkiah, one of the priests, who dwelt in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin;
Beseda Jeremija, Hilkijájevega sina, izmed duhovnikov, ki so bili v Anatótu v Benjaminovi deželi,
2 to whom the word of Jehovah came in the days of Josiah, the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign;
kateremu je prišla Gospodova beseda v dneh Jošíja, Amónovega sina, Judovega kralja, v trinajstem letu njegovega kraljevanja.
3 to whom it also came in the days of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the carrying away of Jerusalem into captivity in the fifth month.
Ta je prišla tudi v dneh Jojakíma, Jošíjevega sina, Judovega kralja, do konca enajstega leta Sedekíja, Jošíjevega sina, Judovega kralja, do preselitve jeruzalemskega ujetništva v petem mesecu.
4 The word of Jehovah came to me, saying:
Potem je prišla k meni Gospodova beseda, rekoč:
5 Before I formed thee in the womb, I knew thee; and before thou camest into the world, I chose thee; I appointed thee to be a prophet to the nations.
»Preden sem te oblikoval v trebuhu, sem te poznal. Preden si prišel iz maternice, sem te posvetil in te odredil [za] preroka narodom.«
6 Then said I, Alas, O Lord Jehovah! Behold, I am not able to speak; for I am a child.
Potem sem rekel: »Jaz, ah Gospod Bog! Glej, ne morem govoriti, kajti jaz sem otrok.«
7 But Jehovah said to me, Say not, I am a child; but go to whomever I send thee, and speak whatever I command thee!
Toda Gospod mi je rekel: »Ne govori: ›Jaz sem otrok, ‹ kajti šel boš k vsem, h katerim te bom poslal in karkoli ti zapovem, boš govoril.
8 Be not afraid of them! For I am with thee to help thee, saith Jehovah.
Ne boj se njihovih obrazov, kajti jaz sem s teboj, da te rešujem, « govori Gospod.
9 Then Jehovah put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. Jehovah also said to me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.
Potem je Gospod iztegnil svojo roko in se dotaknil mojih ust. Gospod mi je rekel: »Glej, svoje besede sem položil v tvoja usta.
10 Behold, I have set thee this day over nations and over kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to overthrow; and to build, and to plant.
Glej, ta dan sem te postavil nad narode in nad kraljestva, da izkoreniniš, da podiraš, da uničiš, da zrušiš, da zgradiš in da sadiš.«
11 Then the word of Jehovah came to me, saying, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, I see a rod of almond-wood.
Poleg tega je prišla k meni Gospodova beseda, rekoč: »Jeremija, kaj vidiš?« Rekel sem: »Vidim palico mandljevca.«
12 And Jehovah said to me, Thou hast seen right; for I am watchful over my word to perform it.
Potem mi je Gospod rekel: »Dobro si videl, kajti pospešil bom svojo besedo, da jo izvršim.«
13 And the word of Jehovah came to me a second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a boiling pot, whose face is turned from the north.
Gospodova beseda je drugič prišla k meni, rekoč: »Kaj vidiš?« Rekel sem: »Vidim lonec, v katerem vre in njegova stran je proti severu.«
14 And Jehovah said to me, From the north shall evil break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.
Potem mi je Gospod rekel: »Iz severa bo izbruhnilo zlo nad vse prebivalce dežele.
15 For, behold, I will call all the tribes of the kingdoms of the north, saith Jehovah; and they shall come, and shall set every one his throne at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all her walls around, and against all the cities of Judah.
Kajti, glej, poklical bom vse družine kraljestev iz severa, « govori Gospod »in prišli bodo in postavili bodo vsak svoj prestol ob vhodu velikih vrat [prestolnice] Jeruzalem in zoper vse njene zidove naokoli in zoper vsa Judova mesta.
16 And I will pronounce my judgments against them for all their wickedness, in that they have forsaken me, and have burned incense to other gods, and worshipped the work of their own hands.
Izrekel bom svoje sodbe zoper njih glede vseh njihovih zlobnosti, ki se dotikajo vseh svojih zlobnosti, ki so me zapustili in zažigali kadilo drugim bogovom ter oboževali dela svojih lastnih rok.
17 Thou, therefore, gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak to them all that I command thee; be not afraid of them, lest I confound thee before them.
Opaši si torej svoja ledja in vstani ter jim spregovori vse, kar sem ti zapovedal. Ne bodi zaprepaden ob njihovih obrazih, da te ne bi zbegal pred njimi.
18 For, behold, I make thee this day a fortified city, and a pillar of iron, and a wall of brass against all this land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.
Kajti glej, ta dan sem te naredil za obrambno mesto, železen steber in bronaste zidove zoper celotno deželo, zoper Judove kralje, zoper njegove prince in zoper njegove duhovnike in zoper ljudstvo dežele.
19 They shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee; for I will be with thee, saith Jehovah, to help thee.
Borili se bodo zoper tebe, toda ne bodo prevladali zoper tebe, kajti jaz sem s teboj, « govori Gospod, »da te osvobodim.«
