Jeremiah 39
1 And it came to pass, when Jerusalem was taken, (in the ninth year of Zedekiah, the king of Judah, in the tenth month, came Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, and all his army, against Jerusalem, and besieged it;
La neuvième année de Sédécias, roi de Juda, le dixième mois, Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, vint avec toute son armée devant Jérusalem; et ils l'assiégèrent.
2 and in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, was the city broken into, )
La onzième année de Sédécias, au quatrième mois, le neuvième jour du mois, une brèche fut faite à la ville.
3 that all the chieftains of the king of Babylon came, and stationed themselves in the middle gate, Nergalsharezer, Samgarnebo, Sarsechim, prefect of the eunuchs, Nergalsharezer, prefect of the magians, and all the rest of the princes of the king of Babylon.
Tous les chefs du roi de Babylone entrèrent et s'établirent à la porte du milieu; Nergal-Séréser, gardien du trésor, Nabu-Sarsakim, chef des eunuques, Nergal-Séréser, chef des mages, et tout le reste des chefs du roi de Babylone.
4 And when Zedekiah, the king of Judah, and all the men of war, saw them, they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king's garden, through the gate between the two walls; and they went forth toward the plain.
Lorsque Sédécias, roi de Juda, et tous les gens de guerre les eurent vus, ils s'enfuirent et sortirent de la ville pendant la nuit vers le chemin du jardin du roi, par la porte entre les deux murs, et ils prirent le chemin de la plaine.
5 But the army of the Chaldaeans pursued them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho; and they took him, and brought him to Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, at Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he gave judgment concerning him.
Mais l'armée des Chaldéens les poursuivit et atteignit Sédécias dans les plaines de Jéricho. L'ayant pris, ils le firent monter vers Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, à Ribla, au pays d'Emath, et il prononça sur lui des sentences.
6 And the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah at Riblah before his eyes; and all the nobles of Judah did the king of Babylon slay.
Le roi de Babylone égorgea à Ribla les fils de Sédécias sous ses yeux; le roi de Babylone égorgea aussi tous les grands de Juda.
7 And he put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him with fetters of brass, to carry him to Babylon.
Puis il creva les yeux à Sédécias, et le lia avec deux chaînes d'airain, pour l'emmener à Babylone.
8 And the Chaldaeans burned the king's house, and the houses of the people, with fire, and they broke down the walls of Jerusalem.
Puis les Chaldéens brûlèrent la maison du roi et les maisons du peuple, et démolirent les murailles de Jérusalem.
9 And the residue of the people that remained in the city, and the deserters who had come over to him, the residue of the people that remained, Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, carried away to Babylon.
Nabuzardan, capitaine des gardes, emmena captifs à Babylone le reste du peuple qui était demeuré dans la ville, les transfuges qui s'étaient rendus à lui, et le reste du peuple du pays qui était demeuré là.
10 But the poor of the people, who had nothing, Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, left in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.
Nabuzardan, capitaine des gardes, laissa dans le pays de Juda quelques-uns des gens pauvres qui ne possédaient rien; et il leur donna des vignes et des champs, en ce jour-là.
11 And Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, gave charge concerning Jeremiah to Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, saying,
Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, donna un ordre à Nabuzardan, chef des gardes, au sujet de Jérémie en ces termes:
12 “Take him, and have thine eyes upon him, and do him no harm; but do to him even as he shall say to you.”
" Prends-le, aie les yeux sur lui, et ne lui fais point de mal; mais agis avec lui comme il te le dira. "
13 Then sent Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, and Nebushasban, prefect of the eunuchs, and Nergalsharezer, prefect of the magians, and all the princes of the king of Babylon,
Nabuzardan, chef des gardes, Nabusezban, chef des eunuques, et Nergal-Séréser, chef des mages, et tous les chefs du roi de Babylone
14 they sent and took Jeremiah out of the court of the prison, and committed him to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, that he should carry him home; and he dwelt among the people.
envoyèrent prendre Jérémie dans la cour de garde, et ils le remirent à Godolias, fils d'Ahicam, fils de Saphan, pour le conduire dans sa maison. Et il demeura au milieu du peuple.
15 Now the word of Jehovah had come to Jeremiah, while he was shut up in the court of the prison, saying:
La parole de Yahweh fut adressée à Jérémie, pendant qu'il était enfermé dans la cour de garde, en ces termes:
16 Go and speak to Ebedmelech, the Ethiopian, and say: Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I bring my words upon this city for evil and not for good, and with thine own eyes shalt thou see it in that day.
Va, parle à Abdémélech, l'Ethiopien, et dis-lui: Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées, Dieu d'Israël: Voici que je vais exécuter mes paroles sur cette ville, pour le mal, et non pour le bien, et ces choses seront en ce jour-là sous tes yeux.
17 But I will deliver thee in that day, saith Jehovah; and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid.
Mais je te délivrerai en ce jour-là, — oracle de Yahweh, — et tu ne seras pas livré aux mains des hommes que tu crains.
18 But I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be to thee as a prey; because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith Jehovah.
Je te ferai sûrement échapper, et tu ne tomberas pas sous l'épée; tu auras ta vie pour butin, parce que tu t’es confié en moi, — oracle de Yahweh.
