Jeremiah 3
1 It is said, if a man put away his wife, And she go from him, and become another man's, Shall he return to her again? Shall not that land be polluted? But thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; And shalt thou return to me, saith Jehovah?
੧ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਆਪਣੀ ਔਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਵੇ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਚੱਲੀ ਜਾਵੇ, ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੀ ਔਰਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇ, ਕੀ ਉਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਫਿਰ ਮੁੜ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ? ਕੀ ਉਹ ਦੇਸ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਭਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਨਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ? ਤੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਬਹੁਤਿਆਂ ਯਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਭਚਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ, ਤੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਵੱਲ ਮੁੜੇਂਗੀ? ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ।
2 Lift up thine eyes to the high places, and see! Where hast thou not been defiled? In the ways hast thou sat waiting, As the Arabian in the desert, And hast polluted the land by thy lewdness and thy wickedness.
੨ਉਚਿਆਈਆਂ ਵੱਲ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਚੁੱਕ, ਤੇ ਵੇਖ! ਉਹ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਥਾਂ ਹੈ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਤੂੰ ਭਿੱਟੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਗਈ? ਤੂੰ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਬੈਠੀ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਅਰਬੀ ਉਜਾੜ ਵਿੱਚ। ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਭਚਾਰ ਤੇ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਨਾਲ ਦੇਸ ਨੂੰ ਭਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਕੀਤਾ।
3 And although the showers have been withholden, And there hath been no latter rain, Yet thou hast had a harlot's forehead; Thou hast refused to be ashamed.
੩ਇਸੇ ਲਈ ਝੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਮੀਂਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਆਖਰੀ ਬਰਸਾਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਈ। ਤੇਰਾ ਮੱਥਾ ਕੰਜਰੀ ਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਸ਼ਰਮ ਖਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਮੁੱਕਰ ਗਈ।
4 Wilt thou not from this time cry to me, Thou art my father, Yea, the friend of my youth art thou?
੪ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਪੁਕਾਰੇਂਗੀ, ਹੇ ਪਿਤਾ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਜੁਆਨੀ ਦਾ ਸਾਥੀ ਹੈ?
5 Will he retain his anger forever? Will he keep it forevermore? Behold, thus dost thou speak, But thou doest evil with all thy might.
੫ਕੀ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਸਦਾ ਤੱਕ ਰਹੇਗਾ? ਕੀ ਉਹ ਆਖੀਰ ਤੱਕ ਖਿੱਝਦਾ ਰਹੇਗਾ? ਵੇਖ, ਤੂੰ ਐਉਂ ਤਾਂ ਬੋਲੀ, ਪਰ ਜਿੰਨੀਆਂ ਕਰ ਸਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਬੁਰਿਆਈਆਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ।
6 Jehovah said to me, in the time of King Josiah, Hast thou heard what rebellious Israel hath done? She hath gone upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot.
੬ਯੋਸ਼ੀਯਾਹ ਰਾਜਾ ਦੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਜੋ ਵਿਦਰੋਹੀ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ? ਉਹ ਹਰੇਕ ਉੱਚੇ ਪਰਬਤ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਹਰੇ ਰੁੱਖ ਹੇਠ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਵਿਭਚਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ
7 And I said, after she had done all these things, Return thou to me! But she returned not. And her faithless sister Judah saw it.
੭ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਖਿਆ, ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਵੱਲ ਮੁੜੇਗੀ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਨਾ ਮੁੜੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਚਾਲ ਬਾਜ਼ ਭੈਣ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵੇਖਿਆ
8 And I saw, when, for all the adulteries which rebellious Israel had committed, I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce, that her faithless sister Judah was not afraid, but went and played the harlot also herself.
੮ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਜਦ ਆਕੀ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਵਿਭਚਾਰ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਢ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਤਿਆਗ ਪੱਤਰੀ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਚਾਲ ਬਾਜ਼ ਭੈਣ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਨਾ ਡਰੀ ਸਗੋਂ ਉਸ ਵੀ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਵਿਭਚਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ
9 And when by the fame of her lewdness she had polluted the land, committing adultery with stone and wood,
੯ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਭਚਾਰ ਇੱਕ ਹਲਕੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਲੱਗੀ ਤਾਂ ਦੇਸ ਭਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਪੱਥਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਰੁੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਭਚਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ!
10 yet for all this did not her faithless sister Judah return to me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith Jehovah.
੧੦ਇਸ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਚਾਲ ਬਾਜ਼ ਭੈਣ ਪੂਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੀ ਵੱਲ ਨਾ ਮੁੜੀ ਸਗੋਂ ਮੱਕਾਰੀ ਨਾਲ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ।
11 Then said Jehovah to me, Rebellious Israel is less guilty than faithless Judah.
੧੧ਤਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਆਕੀ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੇ ਚਾਲਬਾਜ਼ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਧ ਧਰਮੀ ਵਿਖਾਇਆ ਹੈ
12 Go and proclaim these words toward the north: —Return, O rebellious Israel, saith Jehovah! I will not turn a frowning face upon you; For I am merciful, saith Jehovah, I retain not anger forever.
੧੨ਜਾ, ਉੱਤਰ ਵੱਲ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਰਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਆਖ, - ਮੁੜ, ਹੇ ਆਕੀ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਨਹਿਰੀਆਂ ਵੱਟ ਕੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਵੇਖਾਂਗਾ, ਮੈਂ ਦਿਆਲੂ ਜੋ ਹਾਂ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਤੱਕ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਾਂਗਾ।
13 Only acknowledge thine iniquity, That thou hast rebelled against Jehovah thy God, And hast roved about to strangers Under every green tree, And hast not obeyed my voice, saith Jehovah.
੧੩ਨਿਰਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨ ਲੈ, ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਹੋਈ, ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਓਪਰਿਆਂ ਲਈ, ਹਰ ਹਰੇ ਰੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹੇਠ ਖਿਲਾਰਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣੀ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ।
14 Return, ye rebellious children! saith Jehovah; Though I have rejected you, Yet will I receive you again, One from a city, and two from a nation, And I will bring you to Zion.
੧੪ਹੇ ਬੇਈਮਾਨ ਪੁੱਤਰੋ, ਮੁੜੋ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਜੋ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਲਵਾਂਗਾ, ਹਰ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਟੱਬਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਦੋ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸੀਯੋਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆਵਾਂਗਾ।
15 And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, Who shall feed you with wisdom and discretion.
੧੫ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਆਜੜੀ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਗਿਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਝ ਨਾਲ ਚਾਰਨਗੇ
16 And when ye shall have multiplied and increased in the land, saith Jehovah, Then shall ye no more speak of the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, Nor shall it come into your mind. None shall remember it; None shall care for it; It shall not be made any more.
੧੬ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਜਦ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਦੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਧ ਜਾਓਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਓਗੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਫਿਰ ਨਾ ਆਖਣਗੇ “ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਨੇਮ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੂਕ,” ਨਾ ਉਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਵੇਗਾ, ਨਾ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਨਗੇ, ਨਾ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਦੇਖਭਾਲ ਕਰਨਗੇ, ਨਾ ਉਹ ਫਿਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ
17 For then shall Jerusalem be called the throne of Jehovah, And all the nations shall resort to it; They shall resort to Jehovah, to Jerusalem, And shall no more walk after the perverseness of their evil hearts.
੧੭ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਹ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਨੂੰ “ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਸਿੰਘਾਸਣ” ਆਖਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਉੱਤੇ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਕੱਠੀਆਂ ਹੋਣਗੀਆਂ। ਉਹ ਫਿਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੁਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਅੜੀ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਨਾ ਚੱਲਣਗੀਆਂ
18 In those days shall the house of Judah unite themselves with the house of Israel, And they shall come together from the north country, To the land which I caused your fathers to inherit.
੧੮ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦਾ ਘਰਾਣਾ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਚੱਲੇਗਾ, ਉਹ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ ਤੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਣਗੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਓ ਦਾਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਖ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
19 Then I said, how will I place thee among my children, And give thee a pleasant land, A goodly inheritance among the hosts of nations! And I said, Thou wilt call me thy father; Thou wilt not turn aside from following me.
੧੯ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ, - ਮੈਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਲਾਵਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਚੰਗੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ, ਕੌਮਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੈਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੀ ਮਿਲਖ਼! ਮੈਂ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੱਦੋਗੇ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਚੱਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਫਿਰ ਨਾ ਜਾਓਗੇ।
20 Yet as a woman is faithless to her husband, So have ye been faithless to me, O house of Israel! saith Jehovah.
੨੦ਸੱਚ-ਮੁੱਚ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਔਰਤ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਬੇਈਮਾਨੀ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਬੇਈਮਾਨੀ ਕੀਤੀ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ।
21 A voice is heard upon the hills, The weeping and supplications of the children of Israel! For they have perverted their way; They have forgotten Jehovah their God.
੨੧ਉਚਿਆਈਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣਾਈ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੋਣ ਅਤੇ ਤਰਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਰਾਹ ਜੋ ਵਿਗਾੜ ਲਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਭੁੱਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
22 Return, O revolted children! I will heal your rebellion. Behold, we come to thee, For thou art Jehovah our God!
੨੨ਹੇ ਫਿਰਤੂ ਪੁੱਤਰੋ, ਮੁੜੋ, ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਫਿਰਨ ਦਾ ਦਵਾ-ਦਾਰੂ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ। ਵੇਖ, ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਏ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਜੋ ਹੈਂ।
23 Truly in vain from the hills, In vain from the mountains do we seek abundance; Only from Jehovah our God cometh salvation for Israel.
੨੩ਸੱਚ-ਮੁੱਚ ਟਿੱਲਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਪਹਾੜਾਂ ਦਾ ਰੌਲ਼ਾ ਧੋਖਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਸੱਚ-ਮੁੱਚ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹੈ।
24 For the things of shame have devoured the substance of our fathers from our youth, Their sheep and their oxen, Their sons and their daughters.
੨੪ਪਰ ਉਸ ਘਿਣਾਉਣੀ ਵਸਤੂ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੀ ਜੁਆਨੀ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਇੱਜੜਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਿਆਂ ਚੌਣਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਿਆਂ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੱਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ
25 We lie down in our shame, And our ignominy covereth us; For we have sinned against Jehovah our God, We and our fathers, from our youth even to this day, And have not obeyed the voice of Jehovah our God.
੨੫ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਸ਼ਰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੰਮੇ ਪੈ ਜਾਈਏ ਅਤੇ ਘਬਰਾਹਟ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕੱਜ ਲਵੇ, ਅਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਪਾਪ ਜੋ ਕੀਤਾ, ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਜੁਆਨੀ ਤੋਂ ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਤੱਕ, ਅਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣੀ।
