Jeremiah 29

1 Now these are the words of the letter which Jeremiah the prophet sent to the residue of the elders of the captivity, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people, whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon,

நேபுகாத்நேச்சாரினால், எருசலேமிலிருந்து பாபிலோனுக்கு நாடுகடத்திச் செல்லப்பட்டவர்களுக்கு எரேமியா ஒரு கடிதம் எழுதினான்: அதை அவன் எருசலேமிலிருந்து நாடுகடத்தப்பட்டவர்களில் தப்பியிருந்த முதியோர், ஆசாரியர்கள், இறைவாக்கு உரைப்போர் ஆகியோருக்கும் மற்றும் எல்லா மக்களுக்கும் அனுப்பினான்.

2 after the departure of Jeconiah the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, and the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the artificers, and the smiths, from Jerusalem,

இக்கடிதம் எகொனியா அரசனும், தாய் அரசியும், அரச அதிகாரிகளும், யூதாவிலும் எருசலேமிலுமிருந்த தலைவர்களும், கைவினைஞரும், தொழில் வல்லுநர்களும், எருசலேமிலிருந்து நாடுகடத்தப்பட்டுப் போனபின்பு எழுதப்பட்டது.

3 by the hand of Elasah, the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah, the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah, the king of Judah, sent to Babylon, to Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, ) saying: —

எரேமியா அக்கடிதத்தை சாப்பானின் மகன் எலெயாசாரிடமும், இல்க்கியாவின் மகன் கெமரியாவிடமும் ஒப்படைத்தான். அவர்களை யூதா அரசன் சிதேக்கியா, பாபிலோனிலுள்ள அரசன் நேபுகாத்நேச்சாரிடம் அனுப்பினான். அந்தக் கடிதத்தில்:

4 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the captives whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem to Babylon:

இஸ்ரயேலின் இறைவனாகிய சேனைகளின் யெகோவா, தான் எருசலேமிலிருந்து பாபிலோனுக்கு நாடுகடத்தி அனுப்பிய யாவருக்கும் சொல்வதாவது:

5 Build ye houses and dwell in them; and plant gardens and eat the fruit of them.

“நீங்கள் வீடுகளைக் கட்டி, அவைகளில் வாழுங்கள். தோட்டங்களை நாட்டி அவைகளின் கனியைச் சாப்பிடுங்கள்.

6 Take ye wives, and have sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; and increase ye there, and be not diminished.

நீங்கள் திருமணம் செய்து மகன்களையும், மகள்களையும் பெற்றெடுங்கள். உங்கள் மகன்களுக்கு மனைவிகளைத் தேடுங்கள். உங்கள் மகள்களைத் திருமணம் செய்து கொடுங்கள். அவர்களும் மகன்களையும், மகள்களையும் பெறட்டும். எண்ணிக்கையில் பெருகுங்கள்; குறைந்து போகாதிருங்கள்.

7 And seek ye the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray for it to Jehovah, for in its peace shall be your peace.

நான் உங்களை நாடுகடத்தி அனுப்பிய பட்டணத்தின் சமாதானத்தையும், செழிப்பையும் தேடுங்கள். அதற்காக யெகோவாவிடம் மன்றாடுங்கள். ஏனெனில் பட்டணம் செழித்தால், நீங்களும் செழிப்பீர்கள்.”

8 For thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Let not your prophets and your diviners, who are in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.

ஆம், இஸ்ரயேலின் சேனைகளின் யெகோவா கூறுவது இதுவே: “உங்கள் மத்தியிலுள்ள இறைவாக்கினரும், குறிசொல்பவர்களும், உங்களை ஏமாற்ற விடவேண்டாம். கனவுகளைக் காணச்செய்கிற அவர்களுக்கு நீங்கள் செவிகொடாமலும் இருங்கள்.

9 For they prophesy falsely to you in my name; I have not sent them, saith Jehovah.

அவர்கள் என் பெயரில் உங்களுக்குப் பொய்களையே இறைவாக்காகக் கூறுகிறார்கள். நான் அவர்களை அனுப்பவில்லை” என்று யெகோவா அறிவிக்கிறார்.

10 For thus saith Jehovah: Surely, when seventy years shall be completed for Babylon, I will visit you, and I will perform for you my good promise, that I would bring you again to this place.

யெகோவா சொல்வதாவது: “பாபிலோனுக்கு எழுபது வருடங்கள் நிறைவேறிய பின்பு, நான் உங்களிடம் வந்து மீண்டும் உங்களை இந்த இடத்திற்குக் கொண்டுவருவேன் எனக்கூறிய, எனது நல்ல வார்த்தையை நிறைவேற்றுவேன்.

11 For I know the designs which I have in mind concerning you, designs of good and not of evil, to give you a happy end, and fulfill your hopes.

உங்களுக்காக நான் வைத்திருக்கும் என் திட்டங்களை நானே அறிவேன்.” அவைகள், “உங்களுக்குத் தீமை விளைவிக்கும் திட்டங்களல்ல, அவை உங்களுக்கு ஒரு செழிப்பான வாழ்வையும், நம்பிக்கையையும், நல்ல எதிர்காலத்தையும் கொடுக்கும் திட்டங்களே என்று யெகோவா அறிவிக்கிறார்.

12 Then ye shall call upon me, and go in peace; ye shall pray to me, and I will hear you;

அப்பொழுது நீங்கள் என்னை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிட்டு, என்னிடம் வந்து மன்றாடுவீர்கள். நான் உங்களுக்குச் செவிகொடுப்பேன்.

13 ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye search for me with all your heart.

நீங்கள் உங்கள் முழு இருதயத்தோடும் என்னைத் தேடும்பொழுது, நீங்கள் என்னைத் தேடிக் கண்டடைவீர்கள்.

14 And I will be found by you, saith Jehovah, and I will bring you back from captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith Jehovah; and I will bring you again to the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.

நீங்கள் என்னைக் கண்டுகொள்ளும்படி நான் செய்வேன்” என்று யெகோவா அறிவிக்கிறார். “நான் உங்களைச் சிறையிருப்பிலிருந்து மீண்டும் கொண்டுவருவேன். நான் உங்களை நாடுகடத்திய எல்லா நாடுகளிலிருந்தும், எல்லா இடங்களிலிருந்தும் உங்களை ஒன்றுசேர்ப்பேன்; எங்கிருந்து நான் உங்களை நாடுகடத்தி அனுப்பினேனோ அந்த இடத்திற்கு உங்களைத் திரும்பவும் கொண்டுவருவேன்” என்று யெகோவா அறிவிக்கிறார்.

15 Since ye say, Jehovah hath raised us up prophets in Babylon,

“யெகோவா எங்களுக்குப் பாபிலோனிலும் இறைவாக்கு உரைப்போரை எழுப்பியிருக்கிறார்” என்று நீங்கள் சொல்லலாம்.

16 behold, thus saith Jehovah concerning the king that sitteth upon the throne of David, and concerning all the people that dwell in this city, your brethren that went not forth with you into captivity, —

ஆனால் யெகோவா கூறுவதாவது: தாவீதின் அரியணையிலிருக்கிற அரசனைக் குறித்தும், உங்களுடன் நாடுகடத்தப்படாமல் இந்த பட்டணத்திலேயே தங்கியிருக்கும் உங்கள் நாட்டினரான எல்லா மக்களைக் குறித்தும்

17 thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and I will make them like vile figs, which cannot be eaten for badness.

சேனைகளின் யெகோவா கூறுவது இதுவே: “ஆம், நான் வாளையும், பஞ்சத்தையும், கொள்ளைநோயையும் அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாக அனுப்புவேன்; அத்துடன் சாப்பிட முடியாத அளவுக்கு அழுகிப்போன கெட்ட அத்திப்பழங்களைப் போலவே அவர்களை ஆக்குவேன்.

18 And I will persecute them with the sword, and with famine, and with pestilence, and I will give them up to oppression in all kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, and an astonishment, and a hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations whither I drive them;

நான் அவர்களைப் பிடிப்பதற்கு வாளுடனும், பஞ்சத்துடனும், கொள்ளைநோயுடனும் பின்தொடர்வேன். அவர்களை பூமியின் எல்லா அரசுகளுக்கும் அருவருப்பாகும்படி செய்வேன். மேலும் நான் அவர்களைத் துரத்துகிற எல்லா நாடுகளின் மத்தியிலும் அவர்களை சாபத்திற்கும், பயங்கரத்திற்கும், பழிக்கும், நிந்தைக்கும் உள்ளாக்குவேன்.

19 because they have not hearkened to my words, saith Jehovah, when I sent to them my servants, the prophets, rising early and sending them; but ye would not hear, saith Jehovah.

ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் என் வார்த்தைகளுக்குச் செவிகொடுக்கவில்லை” என்று யெகோவா அறிவிக்கிறார். “நான் என் ஊழியக்காரர்களான இறைவாக்கினர்மூலம் திரும்பத்திரும்ப அவர்களுக்கு அனுப்பிய வார்த்தைகளுக்கு அவர்கள் செவிகொடுக்கவில்லை. நாடுகடத்தப்பட்டவர்களாகிய நீங்களுங்கூட, அதற்குச் செவிகொடுக்கவில்லை” என்று யெகோவா அறிவிக்கிறார்.

20 Hear ye, therefore, the word of Jehovah, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon.

ஆகையால் எருசலேமிலிருந்து பாபிலோனுக்கு என்னால் நாடுகடத்தப்பட்ட நீங்கள் எல்லோரும், யெகோவாவின் வார்த்தையைக் கேளுங்கள்.

21 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning Ahab, the son of Kolaiah, and concerning Zedekiah, the son of Maaseiah, who prophesy a lie to you in my name: Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, and he shall slay them before your eyes.

கோலாயாவின் மகன் ஆகாபைக் குறித்தும், மாசெயாவின் மகன் சிதேக்கியாவைக் குறித்தும் இஸ்ரயேலின் இறைவனாகிய சேனைகளின் யெகோவா கூறுவது இதுவே: “இவர்கள் என் பெயரில் உங்களுக்குப் பொய்களை இறைவாக்காகச் சொல்கிறார்கள். நான் அவர்களைப் பாபிலோன் அரசன் நேபுகாத்நேச்சாரிடம் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பேன். அவன் அவர்களை உங்கள் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாகக் கொன்றுபோடுவான்.

22 And from them shall be taken a curse among all the captives of Judah that are at Babylon, so that they shall say, “Jehovah make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire!”

இந்தப் பயங்கர செயலின் நிமித்தம் யூதாவிலிருந்து நாடுகடத்தப்பட்டு, பாபிலோனில் வசிப்போர், ‘பாபிலோன் அரசன் நெருப்பிலே சுட்டெரித்த சிதேக்கியாவைப்போலவும், ஆகாபைப்போலவும் யெகோவா உங்களை நடத்தட்டும்’ என்று சாபமான வார்த்தையாகச் சொல்வார்கள்.

23 because they have practised villany in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbors' wives, and have spoken lying words in my name, which I commanded them not. But I know it, and am a witness, saith Jehovah.

ஏனெனில் இந்த மனிதர் இஸ்ரயேலில் மோசமான காரியங்களைச் செய்திருக்கிறார்கள்; தங்கள் அயலவரின் மனைவியருடன் விபசாரம் செய்திருக்கிறார்கள். நான் அவர்களுக்குச் செய்யும்படி சொல்லாதவற்றை, என் பெயரினால் பொய்களாகப் பேசியிருக்கிறார்கள். நான் அதை அறிவேன். அதற்கு நானே சாட்சி” என்று யெகோவா அறிவிக்கிறார்.

24 And to Shemaiah, the Nehelamite, shalt thou say,

நீ நெகெலாமியனான செமாயாவுக்குச் சொல்லவேண்டியதாவது:

25 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Because thou hast sent letters in thy name to all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah, the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,

“இஸ்ரயேலின் இறைவனாகிய சேனைகளின் யெகோவா கூறுவது இதுவே: நீ எருசலேமிலுள்ள எல்லா மக்களுக்கும் உன் பெயரில் கடிதங்களை அனுப்பியிருக்கிறாய். ஆசாரியன் மாசெயாவின் மகனுமாகிய செப்பனியாவுக்கும், மற்ற எல்லா ஆசாரியருக்குங்கூட அவைகளை அனுப்பியிருக்கிறாய். நீ செப்பனியாவுக்கு எழுதியிருந்ததாவது:

26 Jehovah hath made thee priest in the room of Jehoiada the priest, that there should be officers in the house of Jehovah against every one that is mad and prophesieth, and that thou shouldst put him into the stocks, and into prison;

‘யெகோவாவின் ஆலயத்தில் பொறுப்பாயிருக்கும்படி, யோய்தாவுக்குப் பதிலாக யெகோவா உன்னை ஆசாரியனாக நியமித்திருக்கிறார்; இறைவாக்கினனைப்போல் நடிக்கும் எந்தவொரு பைத்தியக்காரனையும் நீ கால் விலங்குகளிலும், கழுத்து விலங்குகளிலும் போடவேண்டுமே.

27 now, therefore, why hast thou not reproved Jeremiah of Anathoth, who prophesieth to you?

அப்படியானால் உங்கள் மத்தியில் தன்னை இறைவாக்கினனாய் காட்டிக்கொள்ளும், ஆனதோத் ஊரைச்சேர்ந்த எரேமியாவை ஏன் கண்டிக்காமல் விட்டிருக்கிறாய்?

28 For he hath sent to us at Babylon, saying, This captivity is long. Build ye houses and dwell in them, and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them.

இந்த எரேமியாவோ பாபிலோனில் இருக்கும் நமக்கு, உங்கள் சிறையிருப்பு நீண்ட காலத்திற்கு இருக்கும். அதுவரை வீடுகளைக் கட்டிக் குடியிருங்கள். தோட்டங்களை நாட்டி அதன் பலனைச் சாப்பிடுங்கள்’ என்று சொல்லியிருக்கிறானே” என்பதே அந்தக் கடிதம்.

29 And Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.

ஆசாரியனாகிய செப்பனியா இறைவாக்கினன் எரேமியாவுக்கு அந்தக் கடிதத்தை வாசித்துக் காட்டினான்.

30 Then came the word of Jehovah to Jeremiah, saying:

அப்பொழுது யெகோவாவின் வார்த்தை எரேமியாவுக்கு வந்தது:

31 Send to all those of the captivity, saying, Thus saith Jehovah concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite: Because Shemaiah the prophet hath prophesied to you, and I sent him not, and he hath caused you to trust in a lie,

“நாடுகடத்தப்பட்ட யாவருக்கும் நீ இந்தச் செய்தியை அனுப்பு. நெகெலாமியனான செமாயாவைப் பற்றி யெகோவா கூறுவது இதுவே: நான் செமாயாவை அனுப்பாதபோதும் அவன் இறைவாக்கு கூறி நீங்கள் பொய்யை நம்பும்படி செய்திருக்கிறான்.

32 therefore thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will punish Shemaiah, the Nehelamite, and his offspring. There shall descend from him not a man to dwell among this people, and he shall not behold the good which I will do for my people, saith Jehovah; for he hath spoken rebellion against Jehovah.

ஆகவே, யெகோவா கூறுவது இதுவே: நான் நெகெலாமியனான செமாயாவையும் அவனுடைய சந்ததிகளையும் நிச்சயம் தண்டிப்பேன். அவன் எனக்கு விரோதமாகக் கலகத்தைப் பிரசிங்கித்தபடியால், இந்த மக்கள் மத்தியில் அவனுக்கென ஒருவரும் மீந்திருக்கமாட்டார்கள். நான் என் மக்களுக்குச் செய்யப்போகும் நன்மைகளையும் அவன் காணமாட்டான்” என்று யெகோவா அறிவிக்கிறார்.
