Jeremiah 23
1 Woe to the shepherds, Who lose and scatter the sheep of my pasture, saith Jehovah.
主は言われる、「わが牧場の羊を滅ぼし散らす牧者はわざわいである」。
2 For concerning the shepherds, the feeders of my people, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, And have not taken care of them. Behold, I am about to requite you For the evil of your doings, saith Jehovah.
それゆえイスラエルの神、主はわが民を養う牧者についてこう言われる、「あなたがたはわたしの群れを散らし、これを追いやって顧みなかった。見よ、わたしはあなたがたの悪しき行いによってあなたがたに報いると、主は言われる。
3 But I will gather the remnant of my flock From all the countries whither I have driven them, And I will bring them back to their folds, And they shall be fruitful and increase.
わたしの群れの残った者を、追いやったすべての地から集め、再びこれをそのおりに帰らせよう。彼らは子を産んでその数が多くなる。
4 And I will raise up shepherds over them, who shall feed them; They shall fear no more, nor be dismayed; Nor shall they be lost, saith Jehovah.
わたしはこれを養う牧者をその上に立てる、彼らは再び恐れることなく、またおののくことなく、いなくなることもないと、主は言われる。
5 Behold, the days are coming, saith Jehovah, When I will raise up from David a righteous Branch, And a king shall reign and prosper, And shall maintain justice and equity in the land.
主は仰せられる、見よ、わたしがダビデのために一つの正しい枝を起す日がくる。彼は王となって世を治め、栄えて、公平と正義を世に行う。
6 In his days Judah shall be saved, And Israel shall dwell securely; And this is the name which shall be given him, Jehovah-is-our-salvation.
その日ユダは救を得、イスラエルは安らかにおる。その名は『主はわれわれの正義』ととなえられる。
7 Therefore, behold, the days shall come, saith Jehovah, When they shall no more say, “As Jehovah liveth Who brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt!”
主は言われる、それゆえ見よ、人々は『イスラエルの民をエジプトの地から導き出された主は生きておられる』とまた言わないで、
8 But, “As Jehovah liveth Who brought up and led the race of Israel from the north country, And from all the countries whither I had driven them!” And they shall dwell in their own land.
『イスラエルの家の子孫を北の地と、そのすべて追いやられた地から導き出された神は生きておられる』という日がくる。その時、彼らは自分の地に住んでいる」。
9 Concerning the Prophets. My heart is broken within me; All my bones tremble. I am become like a drunken man, Like a man whom wine hath overcome, Because of Jehovah, And because of his holy words.
預言者たちについて。わが心はわたしのうちに破れ、わが骨はみな震う。主とその聖なる言葉のために、わたしは酔っている人のよう、酒に打ち負かされた人のようである。
10 For the land is full of adulteries; Because of a curse doth the land mourn; The pastures of the waste are dried up; For they run to do evil, And their might is without right.
この地に姦淫を行うものが満ちているからだ。のろいによって地は嘆き、荒野の牧場はかわく。彼らの道は悪く、その力は正しくない。
11 Yea, both prophet and priest are profane; Even in my house have I found their wickedness, saith Jehovah.
「預言者と祭司とは共に神を汚す者である。わたしの家においてすら彼らの悪を見たと、主は言われる。
12 Therefore shall their way become as slippery places in the dark; They shall be driven on and fall therein; For I will bring evil upon them In the time of their visitation, saith Jehovah.
それゆえ、彼らの道は、おのずから暗黒の中にあるなめらかな道のようになり、彼らは押されてその道に倒れる。わたしが彼らの罰せられる年に、災をその上に臨ませるからであると、主は言われる。
13 In the prophets of Samaria have I seen folly; They prophesy in the name of Baal, and cause my people Israel to err.
わたしはサマリヤの預言者のうちに不快な事のあるのを見た。彼らはバアルによって預言し、わが民イスラエルを惑わした。
14 In the prophets of Jerusalem also have I seen a horrible thing; They commit adultery, and walk in falsehood; They strengthen the hands of evil-doers, So that none doth turn from his iniquity. They have all become to me as Sodom, And her inhabitants as Gomorrah.
しかしエルサレムの預言者のうちには、恐ろしい事のあるのを見た。彼らは姦淫を行い、偽りに歩み、悪人の手を強くし、人をその悪から離れさせない。彼らはみなわたしにはソドムのようであり、その民はゴモラのようである」。
15 Therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts concerning the prophets: Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, And give them the water of hemlock to drink; For from the prophets of Jerusalem Hath profaneness gone forth into all the land.
それゆえ万軍の主は預言者についてこう言われる、「見よ、わたしは彼らに、にがよもぎを食べさせ、毒の水を飲ませる。神を汚すことがエルサレムの預言者から出て、全地に及んでいるからである」。
16 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Hearken not to the words of the prophets; They lead you to vanity; They utter the vision of their own heart, And not from the mouth of Jehovah.
万軍の主はこう言われる、「あなたがたに預言する預言者の言葉を聞いてはならない。彼らはあなたがたに、むなしい望みをいだかせ、主の口から出たのでない、自分の心の黙示を語るのである。
17 To them that despise me they say continually, “Jehovah hath said, Ye shall have peace”; And to every one that walketh after the perverseness of his heart, “No evil shall come upon you.”
彼らは主の言葉を軽んじる者に向かって絶えず、『あなたがたは平安を得る』と言い、また自分の強情な心にしたがって歩むすべての人に向かって、『あなたがたに災はこない』と言う」。
18 For who of them hath stood in the council of Jehovah, And hath seen and heard his word? Who hath listened to his word and heard it?
彼らのうちだれか主の議会に立って、その言葉を見聞きした者があろうか。だれか耳を傾けてその言葉を聞いた者があろうか。
19 Behold a whirlwind from Jehovah goeth forth in fury, Even a rushing whirlwind; Upon the head of the wicked shall it rush.
見よ、主の暴風がくる。憤りと、つむじ風が出て、悪人のこうべをうつ。
20 The fierce anger of Jehovah shall not turn back, Until he shall have executed, until he shall have accomplished the purpose of his heart. In the latter days ye shall understand it fully.
主の怒りは、み心に思い定められたことをなし遂げられるまで退くことはない。末の日にあなたがたはそれを明らかに悟る。
21 I sent not these prophets, yet they ran; I spake not to them, yet they prophesied.
預言者たちはわたしがつかわさなかったのに、彼らは走った。わたしが、彼らに告げなかったのに、彼らは預言した。
22 For if they had stood in my council, Then would they have caused my people to hear my words, And would have turned them from their evil way. And from the wickedness of their doings.
もし彼らがわたしの議会に立ったのであれば、わたしの民にわが言葉を告げ示して、その悪い道と悪い行いから、離れさせたであろうに。
23 Am I a God near at hand, saith Jehovah, And not a God afar off?
「主は言われる、わたしはただ近くの神であって、遠くの神ではないのであるか。
24 Can any one hide himself in secret places, So that I shall not see him? saith Jehovah; Do I nor fill heaven and earth? saith Jehovah.
主は言われる、人は、ひそかな所に身を隠して、わたしに見られないようにすることができようか。主は言われる、わたしは天と地とに満ちているではないか。
25 I have heard what the prophets say, Who prophesy falsehood in my name, Saying, “I have dreamed, I have dreamed.”
わが名によって偽りを預言する預言者たちが、『わたしは夢を見た、わたしは夢を見た』と言うのを聞いた。
26 How long shall this be In the heart of the prophets, who prophesy falsehood, The prophets of the deceit of their own heart,
偽りを預言する預言者たちの心に、いつまで偽りがあるのであるか。彼らはその心の欺きを預言する。
27 Who think to cause my people to forget my name By the dreams which they relate one to another, As their fathers forgot my name through Baal?
彼らはその先祖がバアルに従ってわが名を忘れたように、互に夢を語って、わたしの民にわが名を忘れさせようとする。
28 The prophet who hath a dream, let him tell a dream; And he that hath my word, let him speak my word truly! What is the chaff to the wheat? saith Jehovah.
夢をみた預言者は夢を語るがよい。しかし、わたしの言葉を受けた者は誠実にわたしの言葉を語らなければならない。わらと麦とをくらべることができようかと、主は言われる。
29 Is not my word like fire, saith Jehovah, And like a hammer, that breaketh the rock in pieces?
主は仰せられる、わたしの言葉は火のようではないか。また岩を打ち砕く鎚のようではないか。
30 Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith Jehovah, That steal my words one from another.
それゆえ見よ、わたしはわたしの言葉を互に盗む預言者の敵となると、主は言われる。
31 Behold, I am against the prophets, saith Jehovah, That take their tongues and utter oracles.
見よ、わたしは、『主は言いたもう』と舌をもって語る預言者の敵となると、主は言われる。
32 Behold, I am against the prophets of false dreams, saith Jehovah, Who tell them, and cause my people to err By their lies and their arrogance. I have not sent them, nor commanded them, And they shall not profit this people at all, saith Jehovah.
主は仰せられる、見よ、わたしは偽りの夢を預言する者の敵となる。彼らはそれを語り、またその偽りと大言をもってわたしの民を惑わす。わたしが彼らをつかわしたのではなく、また彼らに命じたのでもない。それで彼らはこの民にすこしも益にならないと、主は言われる。
33 And when this people, or a prophet, or a priest Shall ask thee, saying, “What is the burden from Jehovah?” Then say thou to them, “What is the burden?” That I will cast you away, saith Jehovah.
この民のひとり、または預言者、または祭司があなたに、『主の重荷はなんですか』と問うならば、彼らに答えなさい、『あなたがたがその重荷です。そして主は、あなたがたを捨てると言っておられます』と。
34 And the prophet, the priest, and the people, Who shall say, “The burden of Jehovah,” I will punish that man and his house.
そして、『主の重荷』と言うその預言者、祭司、または民のひとりを、その家族と共にわたしは罰する。
35 Thus shall ye speak, one to another: “What hath Jehovah answered?” And, “What hath Jehovah spoken?”
あなたがたは、みな互に、隣り人に、また兄弟に、こう言わなければならない、『主はなんと答えられましたか』、『主はなんと言われましたか』と。
36 And of a burden of Jehovah shall ye speak no more; Else shall every man's word be his burden, Because ye pervert the words of the living God, Of Jehovah of hosts, our God.
しかし重ねて『主の重荷』と言ってはならない。重荷は人おのおのの自分の言葉だからである。あなたがたは生ける神、万軍の主なるわれわれの神の言葉を曲げる者である。
37 Thus shalt thou say to the prophet: “What hath Jehovah answered thee?” And, “What hath Jehovah spoken?”
あなたは預言者にこう言わなければならない、『主はあなたになんと答えられましたか』、『主はなんと言われましたか』と。
38 If ye shall say, “The burden of Jehovah,” Then thus saith Jehovah: Because ye say, “The burden of Jehovah,” Although I sent to you and said, Ye shall not say, “The burden of Jehovah,”
もしあなたがたが『主の重荷』と言うならば、主はこう仰せられる、『わたしが人をあなたがたにつかわして、あなたがたは「主の重荷」と言ってはならないと言わせたのに、あなたがたは「主の重荷」という言葉を言ったので、
39 Therefore, behold, I will utterly forget you, And I will cast you, and the city which I gave to your fathers, out of my presence;
わたしは必ずあなたがたを捕え移させ、あなたがたとあなたがたの先祖とに与えたこの町と、あなたがたとを、わたしの前から捨て去る。
40 And I will bring upon you an everlasting reproach, And a perpetual shame which shall not be forgotten.
そして、忘れられることのない永遠のはずかしめと永遠の恥を、あなたがたにこうむらせる』」。
