Jeremiah 15
1 Then said Jehovah to me: Though Moses and Samuel should stand before me, Yet would I not be reconciled to this people. Send them out of my sight, and let them go forth!
Disse-me, porém, o SENHOR: Ainda que Moisés e Samuel se pusessem diante de mim, minha boa vontade não seria com este povo. Lança-os de diante de mim, e saiam.
2 And if they say to thee, “Whither shall we go forth?” Then say thou to them, Thus saith Jehovah: They that are for the pestilence, to the pestilence, And they that are for the sword, to the sword. And they that are for famine, to famine, And they that are for captivity, to captivity.
E será que, quando te perguntarem: Para onde sairemos? Tu lhes dirás: Assim diz o SENHOR: Os que são para a morte, para a morte; e os que são para a espada, para a espada; e os que são para a fome, para a fome; e os que são para o cativeiro, para o cativeiro.
3 I will commission against them four woes, saith Jehovah! The sword to slay, And the dogs to drag about, And the birds of heaven, and the beasts of the earth, To devour and destroy.
Pois eu lhes darei quatro tipos de castigos, diz o SENHOR: espada para matar, cães para despedaçar, e aves do céu e animais da terra para devorar e para destruir.
4 I will cause them to be harassed in all the kingdoms of the earth, On account of Manasseh, the son of Hezekiah, king of Judah, On account of all which he did in Jerusalem.
E farei deles que sejam motivo de horror a todos os reinos da terra, por causa de Manassés filho de Ezequias rei de Judá, pelo que ele fez em Jerusalém.
5 For who will have pity on thee, O Jerusalem? Or who condole with thee? Or who turn aside to ask thee of thy welfare?
Pois quem terá compaixão de ti, ó Jerusalém? Ou quem se entristecerá por tua causa? Ou quem se desviaria para perguntar se estás bem?
6 Thou hast forsaken me, saith Jehovah; Thou hast gone backward; Therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am weary of relenting.
Tu me deixaste, diz o SENHOR, voltaste para trás [de mim]; por isso estenderei minha mão contra ti, e te destruirei; já estou cansado de sentir pena.
7 I will scatter them with a winnowing-fan through the gates of the land; I will bereave them of their sons; I will destroy my people, Since they return not from their ways.
E eu os padejarei com pá até as portas da terra, [e os] deixarei sem filhos; destruirei meu povo, pois não voltaram atrás de seus caminhos.
8 Their widows shall be more numerous than the sand of the sea; Against the mother of the young men do I bring a spoiler at noonday; Suddenly will I bring alarm and terrors upon them.
Suas viúvas se multiplicaram mais que a areia dos mares; eu lhes trouxe sobre a mãe dos rapazes um destruidor ao meio dia; sobre ela eu fiz cair de angústia e terrores.
9 She, that hath borne seven, languisheth; She is ready to expire; Her sun goeth down while it is yet day; She is ashamed and confounded. Their remnant will I also give to the sword Before their enemies, saith Jehovah.
Enfraqueceu-se a que teve sete filhos; a sua alma perdeu o fôlego; seu sol se lhe pôs, sendo ainda de dia; envergonhou-se, e ficou humilhada; e os que dela restarem, eu os entregarei a espada diante de seus inimigos, diz o SENHOR.
10 Alas for me, my mother, that thou hast borne me, To live in strife and contention with all the land! I have neither borrowed nor lent money, Yet doth every one curse me!
Ai de mim, minha mãe, que me geraste homem de brigas e homem de confrontos a toda a terra! Nunca lhes emprestei a juros, nem deles emprestado; e [mesmo assim] todos eles me amaldiçoam.
11 Jehovah said: Surely I will deliver and prosper thee, Surely, in the time of trouble and in the time of distress, Will I cause the adversary to be a suppliant to thee.
Disse o SENHOR: Certamente eu te livrarei para o bem; certamente intervirei por ti no tempo do mal, e no tempo de angústia, por causa do inimigo.
12 Who is able to break iron, Iron from the North, and brass?
Pode, por acaso o ferro [comum] quebrar o ferro do norte, ou o bronze?
13 Thy substance and thy treasures will I give for spoil, without price, On account of all thy sins in all thy borders.
Tuas riquezas e teus tesouros darei ao despojo por preço nenhum, por todos os teus pecados, e em todos os teus limites;
14 I will cause them to pass with thy enemies into a land which thou knowest not; For a fire is kindled in my anger, which shall burn against you.
E [te] levarei com teus inimigos a uma terra que não conheces; porque fogo se acendeu em minha ira, que arderá sobre vós.
15 Thou, O Jehovah, knowest all my concerns! O remember me, and have regard to me, And revenge me of my persecutors! Do not, through thy long-suffering, take me away! Consider that for thy sake I have suffered rebuke!
Tu sabes, ó SENHOR; lembra-te de mim, visita-me, e vinga-me de meus perseguidores. Na lentidão de tua ira não me elimines; tu sabes que é por causa de ti que sofro insultos.
16 As soon as I found thy words, I devoured them; For thy words were the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by thy name, O Jehovah, God of hosts!
Achando-se tuas palavras, logo eu as comi; e tua palavra me foi por prazer e por alegria a meu coração; pois me chamo pelo teu nome, ó SENHOR Deus dos exércitos.
17 I have not sat in the assembly of them that made merry, nor rejoiced; On account of thy hand I have sat alone; For thou hast filled me with indignation.
Não me sentei em companhia de zombadores, nem [com eles] me alegrei; por causa de tua mão, eu me sentei sozinho, pois me encheste de indignação.
18 Why is my pain perpetual, And my wound mortal, refusing to be healed? Thou hast been to me like a deceitful stream; Like waters that fail.
Por que minha dor é contínua, e minha ferida intratável, que não permite cura? Por acaso serias tu para mim como uma ilusão, como águas que não se pode confiar?
19 Then answered Jehovah thus: If thou wilt return, then will I restore thee, and thou shalt stand before me; And if thou wilt separate the precious from the vile, Thou shalt be as my mouth. They shall turn to thee, And thou shalt not turn to them.
Portanto assim diz o SENHOR: Se te converteres, eu te restaurarei, e diante de mim estarás; e se tirares o que é de precioso ao invés do vil, serás como minha boca. Convertam-se eles a ti, e tu não te convertas a eles.
20 I will make thee against this people a strong wall of brass; When they war against thee, they shall not prevail against thee, For I will be with thee to save thee, And to deliver thee, saith Jehovah.
Pois eu te porei para este povo [para seres] como um forte muro de bronze; e lutarão contra ti, mas não te vencerão; pois eu estou contigo para te guardar e te livrar, diz o SENHOR.
21 I will rescue thee from the hand of the wicked, And I will redeem thee from the grasp of the violent.
E eu te livrarei da mão dos maus, e te resgatarei da mão dos terríveis.
