James 1
1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
Jacobus, Guds och Herrans Jesu Christi tjenare: dem tolf slägtom, som äro här och der förskingrade, helso.
2 Count it all joy, my brethren, when ye fall into various temptations;
Mine bröder, håller det för all glädje, när I fallen i mångahanda frestelse;
3 knowing that the trying of your faith worketh endurance.
Och veter, att edor tros bepröfvelse gör tålamod.
4 But let endurance have a perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting in nothing.
Men låter tålamodet hafva ett fullbordadt verk; på det I skolen vara fullkomna och hele, och intet fel hafva.
5 But if any one of you is wanting in wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all liberally, and upbraideth not; and it will be given him.
Hvar nu någrom ibland eder fattas visdom, han bedje af Gudi, den der gifver enfaldeliga allom, och förviter icke; och han skall honom gifven varda.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing doubting; for he that doubteth is like a wave of the sea driven by the wind and tossed.
Men han bedje i trone, intet tviflandes; ty den der tviflar, han är såsom hafsens våg, som af vädret drifs och föres.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive anything from the Lord,
Sådana menniska tänke icke, att hon får något af Herranom.
8 a double-minded man as he is, unstable in all his ways.
En man, som tviflar, är ostadig i alla sina vägar.
9 Let the brother of low degree glory in that he is exalted;
Men en broder, som ringa är, berömme sig af sin upphöjelse;
10 but the rich, in that he is made low; because as the flower of the grass he will pass away.
Och den som rik är, af sin förnedring; ty såsom blomstret af gräset skall han förgås.
11 For the sun rose with its burning heat, and withered the grass, and its flower fell off, and the beauty of its appearance perished; so also will the rich man fade away in his ways.
Solen går upp med hetta, och gräset förvissnar, och blomstret faller af, och dess sköna fägring förgås; så skall ock den rike förvissna uti sina vägar.
12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation; for when he is approved, he will receive the crown of life, which He promised to them that love him.
Salig är den man, som tåleliga lider frestelse; ty då han bepröfvad är, skall han ta lifsens krono, den Gud lofvat hafver dem som honom älska.
13 Let no one when he is tempted, say, I am tempted by God; for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he tempteth no one.
Ingen säge, då han frestad varder, att han af Gudi frestad varder; ty Gud frestas icke af ondt, han frestar ock ingen;
14 But each one is tempted when by his own lust he is led away and enticed;
Utan hvar och en varder frestad, då han af sin egen begärelse dragen och lockad varder.
15 then lust, having conceived, bringeth forth sin, and sin, when completed, bringeth forth death.
Derefter, sedan begärelsen hafver aflat, föder hon synden; men då synden är fullbordad, föder hon döden.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
Farer icke ville, mine käre bröder.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the lights, with whom is no change, nor shadow from turning.
All god gåfva, och all fullkomlig gåfva kommer ofvanefter, ifrå ljusens Fader; när hvilkom ingen förvandling är, eller ljus och mörkers omskiftelse.
18 Of his own will he begot us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first-fruits of his creatures.
Han hafver oss födt efter sin vilja, genom sanningenes ord, på det vi skulle vara förstlingen af hans kreatur.
19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
Derföre, mine käre bröder, hvar och en menniska vare snar till att höra, och sen till att tala, och sen till vrede.
20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
Ty mansens vrede gör icke det rätt är för Gudi.
21 Wherefore put off all filthiness, and excess of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
Lägger fördenskull bort alla orenlighet och alla ondsko, och anammer ordet med saktmodighet, som i eder plantadt är, det edra själar kan saliga göra.
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
Men varer ordets görare, och icke allenast hörare, bedragandes eder sjelfva.
23 For if any one is a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like a man beholding his natural face in a glass;
Ty der någor är allenast ordsens hörare, och icke görare, han är lik den man, som sitt lekamliga ansigte skådar i en spegel;
24 for he beholds himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what manner of man he was.
Ty då han sig beskådat hafver, går han derifrån, och förgäter straxt hurudana han var.
25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty, and remains there, being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in his deed.
Men den der skådar uti frihetenes fullkomliga lag, och blifver deruti, och är icke en glömsker hörare, utan en görare, den samme varder salig uti sin gerning.
26 If any one thinks that he is religious, and bridles not his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
Hvar nu någor ibland eder låter sig tycka, att han tjenar Gudi, och icke styrer sina tungo, utan bedrager sitt hjerta, hans Gudstjenst är fåfäng.
27 Pure religion and undefiled before God, the Father, is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep one's self unspotted from the world.
Detta är för Gudi och Fadren en ren och obesmittad Gudstjenst, söka faderlös och moderlös barn, och enkor, uti deras bedröfvelse, och behålla sig obesmittad af verldene.
