James 1
1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
Santiago siervo de Dios y del Señor Jesu Cristo, a las doce tribus que están en la dispersión, salud.
2 Count it all joy, my brethren, when ye fall into various temptations;
Hermanos míos, tenéd por todo gozo cuando cayereis en diversas tribulaciones:
3 knowing that the trying of your faith worketh endurance.
Sabiendo que la prueba de vuestra fe obra paciencia.
4 But let endurance have a perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting in nothing.
Mas tenga la paciencia su obra perfecta, para que seáis perfectos y cabales, sin faltar en alguna cosa.
5 But if any one of you is wanting in wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all liberally, and upbraideth not; and it will be given him.
Y si alguno de vosotros tiene falta de sabiduría, demánde la a Dios, (el cual da a todos dadivosamente, y no zahiere, ) y serle ha dada.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing doubting; for he that doubteth is like a wave of the sea driven by the wind and tossed.
Empero demande en fe, no dudando nada; porque el que duda, es semejante a la onda de la mar, que es movida del viento, y es echada de una parte a otra.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive anything from the Lord,
No piense pues el tal hombre que recibirá cosa alguna del Señor.
8 a double-minded man as he is, unstable in all his ways.
El hombre de doblado ánimo, es inconstante en todos sus caminos.
9 Let the brother of low degree glory in that he is exalted;
Además, el hermano que es de humilde condición, gloríese en su ensalzamiento;
10 but the rich, in that he is made low; because as the flower of the grass he will pass away.
Mas el que es rico, en su humillación; porque él se pasará como la flor de la yerba:
11 For the sun rose with its burning heat, and withered the grass, and its flower fell off, and the beauty of its appearance perished; so also will the rich man fade away in his ways.
Que salido el sol con ardor, la yerba se secó, y su flor se cayó, y su hermosa apariencia pereció: así también se marchitará el rico en sus caminos.
12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation; for when he is approved, he will receive the crown of life, which He promised to them that love him.
Bienaventurado el varón que sufre tentación; porque después que fuere probado, recibirá la corona de vida, que Dios ha prometido a los que le aman.
13 Let no one when he is tempted, say, I am tempted by God; for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he tempteth no one.
Cuando alguno es tentado, no diga, que Dios me tienta; porque Dios no puede ser tentado por el mal, ni él tienta a alguno:
14 But each one is tempted when by his own lust he is led away and enticed;
Sino que cada uno es tentado, cuando de su propia concupiscencia es atraído, y cebado.
15 then lust, having conceived, bringeth forth sin, and sin, when completed, bringeth forth death.
Y la concupiscencia después que ha concebido, pare al pecado: y el pecado, siendo cumplido, engendra muerte.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
Hermanos míos muy amados, no erréis.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the lights, with whom is no change, nor shadow from turning.
Toda buena dádiva, y todo don perfecto es de lo alto, que desciende del Padre de las lumbres, en el cual no hay mudanza, ni sombra de variación.
18 Of his own will he begot us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first-fruits of his creatures.
El de su propia voluntad nos ha engendrado por la palabra de verdad, para que seamos como primicias de sus criaturas.
19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
Así que, hermanos míos muy amados, todo hombre sea pronto para oír, tardío para hablar, tardío para airarse;
20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
Porque la ira del hombre no obra la justicia de Dios.
21 Wherefore put off all filthiness, and excess of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
Por lo cual dejando toda inmundicia, y superfluidad de malicia, recibíd con mansedumbre la palabra injerida en vosotros, la cual puede hacer salvas vuestras almas.
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
Mas sed hacedores de la palabra, y no tan solamente oidores, engañándoos a vosotros mismos.
23 For if any one is a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like a man beholding his natural face in a glass;
Porque si alguno oye la palabra, y no la pone por obra, este tal es semejante al hombre que considera en un espejo su rostro natural:
24 for he beholds himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what manner of man he was.
Porque él se consideró a sí mismo, y se fue; y luego se olvidó qué tal era.
25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty, and remains there, being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in his deed.
Mas el que hubiere mirado atentamente en la ley perfecta que es la de la libertad, y hubiere perseverado en ella, no siendo oidor olvidadizo, sino hacedor de la obra, este tal será bienaventurado en su hecho.
26 If any one thinks that he is religious, and bridles not his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
Si alguno de entre vosotros piensa ser religioso, y no refrena su lengua, sino que engaña su propio corazón, la religión del tal es vana.
27 Pure religion and undefiled before God, the Father, is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep one's self unspotted from the world.
La religión pura y sin mácula delante de Dios y Padre es esta: Visitar los huérfanos y las viudas en sus tribulaciones, y guardarse sin mancha del mundo.
