James 1
1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
Esta carta é escrita por Tiago, servo de Deus e do Senhor Jesus Cristo. E é enviada às doze tribos espalhadas pelo mundo. Muitas felicidades a todos!
2 Count it all joy, my brethren, when ye fall into various temptations;
Meus amigos, fiquem felizes, mesmo quando surgirem todos os tipos de problemas em seu caminho,
3 knowing that the trying of your faith worketh endurance.
pois vocês sabem que a perseverança surge ao enfrentarmos os desafios que colocam à prova a nossa fé em Deus.
4 But let endurance have a perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting in nothing.
Façam com que a sua perseverança se fortaleça o máximo possível, pois, assim, vocês se tornarão completamente maduros, sem qualquer tipo de falhas.
5 But if any one of you is wanting in wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all liberally, and upbraideth not; and it will be given him.
Se algum de vocês precisar de sabedoria, peça a Deus, que dá generosamente a todos, sem reservas.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing doubting; for he that doubteth is like a wave of the sea driven by the wind and tossed.
Mas, quando pedirem, lembrem-se de ter fé em Deus e não duvidem de forma alguma, pois aquele que duvida se parece com as ondas do mar, que são levadas de um lado para outro pelo vento.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive anything from the Lord,
Quem é assim não deveria esperar absolutamente nada do Senhor,
8 a double-minded man as he is, unstable in all his ways.
uma vez que os seus pensamentos seguem em qualquer direção e demonstram a sua falta de firmeza em tudo o que faz.
9 Let the brother of low degree glory in that he is exalted;
O irmão que é pobre deveria ter orgulho da alta posição que lhe foi dada.
10 but the rich, in that he is made low; because as the flower of the grass he will pass away.
Enquanto o irmão rico deveria “se gabar” da posição humilde que agora têm, pois quem é rico desaparecerá como as flores no campo.
11 For the sun rose with its burning heat, and withered the grass, and its flower fell off, and the beauty of its appearance perished; so also will the rich man fade away in his ways.
Pois o sol sobe junto com o vento escaldante e queima a grama. E as flores murcham e a sua beleza é completamente destruída. Tudo o que os ricos alcançam irá desaparecer justamente do mesmo modo.
12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation; for when he is approved, he will receive the crown of life, which He promised to them that love him.
Feliz é aquele que pacientemente suporta a provação, porque, depois de ter sido aprovado, receberá a coroa da vida prometida por Deus para aqueles que o amam.
13 Let no one when he is tempted, say, I am tempted by God; for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he tempteth no one.
Ninguém deve dizer ao ser tentado: “Estou sendo tentado por Deus”, pois Deus não é tentado pelo mal e também não tenta ninguém.
14 But each one is tempted when by his own lust he is led away and enticed;
As tentações vêm dos nossos próprios desejos perversos, que nos desencaminham e nos aprisionam.
15 then lust, having conceived, bringeth forth sin, and sin, when completed, bringeth forth death.
Esses desejos nos levam a pecar e, quando o pecado está completamente desenvolvido, ele causa a morte.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
Meus queridos irmãos, não se enganem.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the lights, with whom is no change, nor shadow from turning.
Tudo o que é bom e todo dom perfeito vem do céu, vem do Pai, que foi quem criou as luzes do céu. Ao contrário delas, ele não muda. Ele não varia e nem produz sombras.
18 Of his own will he begot us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first-fruits of his creatures.
Ele escolheu nos dar uma vida nova, por meio da palavra da verdade, a fim de ocuparmos, entre tudo o que ele criou, um lugar muito especial.
19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
Amigos, lembrem-se disto: todos deveriam ser rápidos para escutar, mas lentos para falar e para ficarem irritados,
20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
pois a raiva humana não reflete o bom caráter de Deus.
21 Wherefore put off all filthiness, and excess of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
Então, livrem-se de toda sujeira moral e da maldade. Aceitem, com humildade, a mensagem que foi colocada em seus corações, pois é isso que pode salvá-los.
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
Coloquem em prática o que a mensagem diz; tratem de não apenas escutá-la e se iludirem.
23 For if any one is a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like a man beholding his natural face in a glass;
Pois quem apenas escuta a mensagem e não a pratica é como a pessoa que olha a sua própria imagem no espelho.
24 for he beholds himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what manner of man he was.
Ela se vê, mas, assim que sai da frente do espelho, esquece imediatamente como é a sua aparência.
25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty, and remains there, being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in his deed.
Mas, se você examina a lei perfeita, que traz liberdade, e a segue e pratica, então, será abençoado em tudo o que fizer. Por isso, não faça como a pessoa que apenas a escuta e depois a esquece.
26 If any one thinks that he is religious, and bridles not his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
Se você acha que é religioso, mas não controla o que diz, você está se enganando, pois a sua religião não tem sentido.
27 Pure religion and undefiled before God, the Father, is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep one's self unspotted from the world.
Aos olhos de nosso Deus e Pai, a religião pura e verdadeira é esta: auxiliar órfãos e viúvas em suas aflições e evitar ser contaminado com as coisas más deste mundo.
