James 5
1 Come now, ye rich men, weep and wail for your miseries that are coming upon you.
Ea ya ahora, ricos, llorád aullando por causa de las miserias que os han de sobrevenir.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are become moth-eaten;
Vuestras riquezas están podridas; y vuestras ropas están roidas de la polilla.
3 your gold and silver is rusted, and the rust of them will be a witness against you, and will eat your flesh as fire; ye have heaped up treasure in the last days!
Vuestro oro y vuestra plata están orinecidos, y el orín de ellos será testimonio contra vosotros, y comerá del todo vuestras carnes como fuego: habéis allegado tesoro para en los postreros días.
4 Behold, the hire of the laborers who reaped your fields, which is fraudulently kept back by you, crieth out; and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Hosts.
He aquí, el jornal de los obreros que han segado vuestras tierras, (el cual por engaño no les ha sido pagado de vosotros, ) clama; y los clamores de los que habían segado han entrado en el oído del Señor de los ejércitos.
5 Ye have lived in luxury on the earth, and have been given to pleasure; ye have pampered your hearts in a day of slaughter.
Habéis vivido en deleites sobre la tierra, y sido disolutos, y habéis cebado vuestros corazones como en un día de matanza.
6 Ye have condemned, ye have killed the just man; he doth not resist you.
Habéis condenado y muerto al justo, y él no os resiste.
7 Be patient therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and is patient about it, until it hath received the early and latter rain.
Por tanto, hermanos, sed pacientes hasta la venida del Señor. He aquí, el labrador espera el precioso fruto de la tierra, esperando pacientemente, hasta que reciba la lluvia temprana y tardía.
8 Be ye also patient, establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
Sed pues también vosotros pacientes, y fortificád vuestros corazones; porque la venida del Señor se acerca.
9 Murmur not against each other, brethren, that ye be not judged. Behold, the Judge standeth before the door.
Hermanos, no gimáis unos contra otros, porque no seáis condenados: He aquí, el juez está delante de la puerta.
10 Take, brethren, the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, for an example of affliction, and of patience.
Hermanos míos, tomád por ejemplo de sufrir el mal, y de paciencia, a los profetas que hablaron en el nombre del Señor.
11 Behold, we count those happy who have endured. Ye have heard of the patience of Job; behold also the end of the Lord, that he is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
He aquí, tenemos por bienaventurados a los que sufren. Vosotros habéis oído de la paciencia de Job, y habéis visto el fin del Señor, que el Señor es muy misericordioso y piadoso.
12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not; neither by heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath; but let your yea be yea, and your nay, nay; that ye fall not under condemnation.
Empero, hermanos míos, ante todas cosas no juréis, ni por el cielo, ni por la tierra, ni por otro cualquier juramento; mas vuestro Sí, sea Sí; y vuestro No, No; porque no caigáis en condenación.
13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any cheerful? let him sing praise.
¿Está alguno entre vosotros afligido? haga oración. ¿Está alguno alegre entre vosotros? salmodie.
14 Is any sick among you? let him call to him the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
¿Está alguno enfermo entre vosotros? llame a los ancianos de la iglesia, y oren sobre él, ungiéndole con aceite en el nombre del Señor;
15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up; even if he have committed sins, it shall be forgiven him.
Y la oración de fe hará salvo al enfermo, y el Señor le aliviará; y si estuviere en pecados, le serán perdonados.
16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Confesáos vuestras faltas unos a otros, y rogád los unos por los otros, para que seáis sanos. La oración eficaz del justo puede mucho.
17 Elijah was a man of like nature with us, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain; and it rained not on the earth for three years and six months;
Elías era hombre sujeto a semejantes pasiones que nosotros, y rogó con oración que no lloviese, y no llovió sobre la tierra por tres años, y seis meses.
18 and again he prayed, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
Y otra vez oró, y el cielo dio lluvia, y la tierra produjo su fruto.
19 Brethren, if any one among you be led astray from the truth, and one convert him,
Hermanos, si alguno de entre vosotros errare de la verdad, y alguno le convirtiere,
20 let him know that he who converteth a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death, and will cover a multitude of sins.
Sepa este tal que el que hubiere hecho convertir al pecador del error de su camino, salvará un alma de muerte, y cubrirá multitud de pecados.
