1 My brethren, hold not the faith of our Lord of glory, Jesus Christ, with respect of persons.

2 For if there come into your assembly a man with a gold ring, in splendid apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment,

Chongkhatin nin intûpna ina han minei rângkachak kutsabi buna puon satak insilin hong senla, male mi inriengte puonchetnar insilin hong lût sa senla.

3 and ye have respect to him that weareth the splendid apparel, and say, Sit thou here in a good place, and say to the poor man, Stand thou there, or, Sit under my footstool,

Puon satak insilpu kôm nin jâna nin minlang uola, a kôm, “Hi mun satak hin insung roh,” nin tia, aniatachu mi inriengte kôm han chu, “So son vân ding roh, aninônchu ka ke kôla chuonglâia hin insung roh,” nin tiin chu,

4 have ye not been partial among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?

nangni nanâkin nin lâia ateinangei nin sin sik le nin roijêknangei hah nun saloingei chunga anngam sikin theiloi nin chang ani.

5 Hearken, my beloved brethren. Did not God choose the poor as to the world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he promised to them that love him?

Rangâi roi, ko moroitak lâibungngei le sarnungei! Pathien'n hi rammuola mi inriengngei hih taksônna tienga nei rangin le ama lungkhamngei ta ranga ân khâmsai Rêngram ha luo rangin a thang ngei zoi ani.

6 but ye have despised the poor man. Do not the rich oppress you, and do not they drag you before the judgment-seats?

Aniatachu nangnin chu inriengngei mân tho ngâi mak chei! Tu ngei mo an zojôt nangni loa, roijêkpungei kôm nangni kainâl ngâi ha? Aneingei an ni!

7 Do not they blaspheme the worthy name by which ye are called?

Riming asa nangni pêka om, arilsiet ngâi khom anni ngei hah an ni.

8 If indeed ye fulfill the royal law, according to the scripture, “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself,” ye do well.

Pathien lekhabua, Rêngram balam nin man, “Nangma nên lungkham anghan nu bungangei lungkham roh,” ti chong hih nin jômin chu neinun asa nin tho nîng atih.

9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors.

Aniatachu mi apêntienga ânlang dungjûiin nin enin chu, sietnân theiloi nin chang ani, male Balam khomin balamsietpu anghan nangni a minchang ani.

10 For whoever hath kept the whole law, and yet hath offended in one point, hath become guilty of all.

Tukhom Balam chongpêk inkhat a sietin chu anrêngin a siet let ani.

11 For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,” said also, “Do not kill.” Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou hast become a transgressor of the law.

“Inrê no roh,” tipu dên han, “Mi that no roh,” a ti sa sikin. Inrê tho no khom inla, mi na thatin chu balam sietpu dên no hongni.

12 So speak, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

Mi min zalenna balama roijêka om rang mingei anghan chong ungla, sin khom tho roi.

13 For the judgment shall be without mercy to him that showed no mercy. Mercy glorieth against judgment.

Mi chunga mulungjûrpuina dônloi chu Pathien'n mulungjûrpuina minlang loiin a chunga roijêk pe a ta; aniatachu mulungjûrpuinân roijêkna chunga a mene ngâi ani.

14 What doth it profit, my brethren, if any one say that he hath faith, and have not works? Can his faith save him?

Ka lâibungngei le sarnungei, mi inkhatin taksôna ko dôn ti ungla, sinthôn nin minlang nônchu imo asatna aoma? Ma anga taksôna han nangni sanminring thei rang mo?

15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,

Chongkhatin lâibungngei mini, sarnungei mini puonsil boiin le sâknêk hunloiin om senla ngei.

16 and one of you say to them, Depart in peace, be warmed and be filled, notwithstanding ye give them not the things needful for the body, what doth it profit?

Nangnîn an kôm, “Pathien'n sat nangni vur rese! Alum-îrin om ungla khop takin sâk roi!” ti ungla, taksa ringna ranga an nângngei ha pêk no ungla, imo asatna aom ranga?

17 So also faith, if it hath not works, is dead in itself.

Ma angdênin taksôna hi athenin aoma: sintho akopsa nônchu athi ani.

18 But some one will say, Thou hast faith, and I have works; show me thy faith without works, and I will show thee my faith by my works.

Aniatachu tumakhatin, “Mi inkhatin taksônna a dôna, mi dangin sintho a dôn,” a ti thei, keima ku thuonna chu, “Kho-angin mo mîn sintho boiin taksônna a dôn thei ni min mu roh. Keiman taksônnân ki sinthongei nang min mu ki tih.”

19 Thou believest that God is one; thou doest well; the demons also believe, and tremble.

Pathien chu inkhat vai kêng aom tih ni iem mo? Asa! ramkhoringei khomin an iema male chîn an innîk ngâi ani.

20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is idle?

Nangma amopa! Sintho boia taksônna chu kâmnângloi ani tih mu rang nu nuom mo?

21 Was not Abraham our father accepted as righteous through works, when he offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

Kho angin mo ei richibul Abraham'n Pathien kôm adik a chang? Ma ha a nâipasal Isaac mâichâm chunga a pêka a sintho sika kêng ani.

22 Thou seest that faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect.

A taksôna le sintho ha munkhatin sin a thoa; a taksônna hah a sinthôn ahong mikhip ani, tih nu mu loi mo?

23 And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, “Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him for righteousness;” and he was called the friend of God.

Pathien lekhabu'n ati hah ahong dika, “Abraham'n Pathien a iema, a taksônna sikin Pathien'n mi diktak anghan a bê ani.” Masikin Abraham hah Pathien mal tiin koi ani zoi.

24 Ye see that by works a man is accounted as righteous, and not by faith only.

Hanchu mingeiin an taksônna atheivaiin niloiin, sintho sikin kêng Pathien kôm adik an chang ngâi tih nin mu zoi ani.

25 And in like manner was not also Rahab the harlot accounted as righteous through works, when she received the messengers, and sent them out another way?

Ma angdênin Rahab notizuornu khom han Israelnâingei enrichikpungei lamdon lei thôn, lam dang tieng rotpai rangin a lei san ngeia, a sintho sikin Pathien kôm adik a chang ani.

26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

Masikin ratha boiin takpum athi ani, anghan taksônna khom sinthongei boiin chu athi ani.
