Isaiah 9
1 But the darkness shall not remain where now is distress; Of old he brought the land of Zebulon and the land of Naphtali into contempt; In future times shall he bring the land of the sea beyond Jordan, the circle of the gentiles, into honor.
তবুও, যারা বিপর্যস্ত হয়েছিল, তাদের মধ্যে বিষাদ আর থাকবে না। অতীতকালে তিনি সবূলূনের ভূমি ও নপ্তালির ভূমিকে অবনত করেছিলেন; কিন্তু পরবর্তীকালে তিনি সমুদ্রের নিকটবর্তী সেই পথ থেকে, জর্ডন নদীর তীরে স্থিত পরজাতিদের গালীলকে সম্মানিত করবেন।
2 The people that walk in darkness behold a great light; They who dwell in the land of death-like shade, Upon them a light shineth.
যে জাতি অন্ধকারে বসবাস করত, তারা এক মহাজ্যোতি দেখতে পেয়েছে; যারা মৃত্যুচ্ছায়ার দেশে বসবাস করত, তাদের উপরে এক জ্যোতির উদয় হয়েছে।
3 Thou enlargest the nation; Thou increasest their joy; They rejoice before thee with the joy of harvest, With the joy of those who divide the spoil.
তুমি সেই জাতির বৃদ্ধি করেছ এবং তাদের আনন্দ বর্ধিত হয়েছে; তারা তোমার সামনে আনন্দিত হয় যেমন লোকে শস্যচয়নের সময়ে করে, যেমন যোদ্ধারা আনন্দ করে, যখন তারা লুন্ঠিত বস্তু বিভাগ করে।
4 For thou breakest their heavy yoke, And the rod that smote their backs, And the scourge of the taskmaster, As in the day of Midian.
যেমন তোমরা মিদিয়নকে পরাস্ত করার সময়ে করেছিলে, তাদের দাসত্বের জোয়াল তোমরা ভেঙে ফেলবে, তাদের কাঁধ থেকে ভারী বোঝা তুলে ফেলবে, তোমরা নিপীড়নকারীদের লাঠি ভেঙে ফেলবে।
5 For every greave of the warrior in battle, And the war-garment rolled in blood, Shall be burned; yea, it shall be food for the fire.
যুদ্ধে ব্যবহৃত প্রত্যেক যোদ্ধার জুতো ও রক্তে ভেজা প্রত্যেকটি পোশাক অবশ্য দগ্ধ করা হবে, সেগুলি আগুনের জ্বালানিস্বরূপ হবে।
6 For to us a child is born, To us a son is given, And the government shall be upon his shoulder, And he shall be called Wonderful, counsellor, mighty potentate, Everlasting father, prince of peace;
কারণ আমাদের জন্য এক শিশুর জন্ম হয়েছে, আমাদের কাছে এক পুত্রসন্তান দেওয়া হয়েছে, শাসনভার তাঁরই কাঁধে দেওয়া হবে। আর তাঁকে বলা হবে আশ্চর্য পরামর্শদাতা, পরাক্রমী ঈশ্বর, চিরন্তন পিতা, শান্তিরাজ।
7 His dominion shall be great, And peace without end shall be upon the throne of David and his kingdom, To fix and establish it Through justice and equity, Henceforth and forever. The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will do this.
তাঁর শাসনক্ষমতা বৃদ্ধির ও শান্তির কোনো সীমা থাকবে না। তিনি দাউদের সিংহাসনে অধিষ্ঠিত হয়ে তাঁর রাজ্যের উপরে কর্তৃত্ব করবেন, ন্যায়বিচার ও ধার্মিকতার সঙ্গে তিনি তা প্রতিষ্ঠিত করে সুস্থির করবেন, সেই সময় থেকে অনন্তকাল পর্যন্ত করবেন। সর্বশক্তিমান সদাপ্রভুর উদ্যোগই তা সম্পাদন করবে।
8 The Lord sendeth a word against Jacob; It cometh down to Israel.
প্রভু যাকোবের বিরুদ্ধে একটি বার্তা প্রেরণ করেছেন; তা ইস্রায়েলের উপরে পতিত হবে।
9 His whole people shall feel it, Ephraim, and the inhabitants of Samaria, Who say in pride and arrogance of heart,
ইফ্রয়িম ও শমরিয়ায় বসবাসকারী সব লোকই তা জানতে পারবে, যারা গর্বিত মনে ও উদ্ধত হৃদয়ের সঙ্গে একথা বলে,
10 “The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones; The sycamores are cut down, but we will replace them with cedars.”
“ইটগুলি তো পতিত হয়েছে, কিন্তু আমরা তক্ষিত পাথরে তা আবার গাঁথব; ডুমুর গাছগুলি কেটে ফেলা হয়েছে, কিন্তু সেগুলির জায়গায় আমরা সিডার গাছ লাগাব।”
11 Jehovah will raise up the enemies of Rezin against them, And will arm their adversaries;
কিন্তু সদাপ্রভু রৎসীনের বিরুদ্ধে, তার শত্রুদের শক্তিশালী করেছেন, আর তার বিরুদ্ধে তাদের উদ্দীপিত করেছেন।
12 The Syrians before, the Philistines behind, Who shall devour Israel with wide jaws. For all this his anger is not turned away, But his hand is stretched out still.
পূর্বদিক থেকে অরামীয়রা ও পশ্চিমদিক থেকে ফিলিস্তিনীরা মুখ হা করে ইস্রায়েলকে গ্রাস করেছে। তবুও, এ সকলের জন্য তাঁর ক্রোধ প্রশমিত হয়নি, তাঁর হাত এখনও উপরে উঠে আছে।
13 The people turn not to him that smiteth them; Neither do they seek Jehovah of hosts.
কিন্তু, যিনি তাদের আঘাত করেছেন, তাঁর কাছে তারা ফিরে আসেনি, তারা সর্বশক্তিমান সদাপ্রভুর অন্বেষণও করেনি।
14 Therefore shall Jehovah cut off from Israel the head and the tail, The palm-branch and the rush, in one day.
তাই সদাপ্রভু ইস্রায়েল থেকে মাথা ও লেজ, দুটিই কেটে ফেলবেন, খেজুরডাল ও নলখাগড়া মাত্র একদিনে কেটে দেবেন;
15 [[The aged and the honorable are the head, And the prophet that speaketh falsehood is the tail.]]
প্রাচীনেরা ও প্রমুখ লোকেরা হলেন মস্তক, আর যে ভাববাদীরা মিথ্যা কথা শিক্ষা দেয়, তারা হল লেজ।
16 For the leaders of this people lead them astray, And they that are led by them go to destruction.
যারা লোকদের পথ প্রদর্শন করে, তারাই তাদের বিপথে চালিত করে, আর যারা চালিত হয়, তারা বিপথগামী হয়ে পড়ে।
17 Therefore shall the Lord have no joy in their young men, And on their orphans and widows he shall have no compassion; For they are all profane, and evil-doers; Every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, But his hand is stretched out still.
সেই কারণে প্রভু যুবকদের জন্য আর আনন্দ করবেন না, পিতৃহীন ও বিধবাদের প্রতি তিনি মমতা প্রদর্শন করবেন না, কারণ তারা সবাই ভক্তিহীন ও দুষ্ট, তারা প্রত্যেকেই অশালীন কথা বলে। তবুও, এ সকলের জন্য তাঁর ক্রোধ প্রশমিত হয়নি, তাঁর হাত এখনও উপরে উঠে আছে।
18 For wickedness burneth like a fire, It consumeth the briers and thorns, And it kindleth the thicket of the forest, So that it goeth up in columns of smoke.
সত্যিই দুষ্টতা আগুনের মতো প্রজ্বলিত হয়; তা শিয়ালকাঁটা ও কাঁটাঝোপকে পুড়িয়ে ফেলে, তা বনের ঘন জঙ্গলকে দাউদাউ করে প্রজ্বলিত করে, ফলে উপরের দিকে ঘন ধোঁয়ার কুণ্ডলী উঠে যায়।
19 Through the wrath of Jehovah of hosts is the land burned, And the people are food for the fire; No one spareth another.
সর্বশক্তিমান সদাপ্রভুর ক্রোধে সমস্ত দেশ আগুনে ঝলসে যাবে, আর লোকেরা হবে সেই আগুনের জ্বালানিস্বরূপ; কেউ তার ভাইকেও অব্যাহতি দেবে না।
20 They consume on the right hand, and yet are hungry; They devour on the left, and are not satisfied; Every one devoureth the flesh of his arm.
ডানদিকে তারা গ্রাস করবে, তবুও তারা ক্ষুধার্ত থেকে যাবে; বাঁদিকে তারা খেতে থাকবে, তবুও তারা তৃপ্ত হবে না। প্রত্যেকে তার নিজের সন্তানের মাংস খাবে:
21 Manasseh is against Ephraim, and Ephraim against Manasseh, And both together against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, But his hand is stretched out still.
মনঃশি ইফ্রয়িমের মাংস খাবে এবং ইফ্রয়িম খাবে মনঃশিকে; তারা উভয়ে একত্রে যিহূদার বিরুদ্ধে উঠবে। তবুও, এ সকলের জন্য তাঁর ক্রোধ প্রশমিত হয়নি, তাঁর হাত এখনও উপরে উঠে আছে।
