Isaiah 44
1 Yet now hear, O Jacob, my servant, And Israel, whom I have chosen;
Mais écoute maintenant, Jacob, mon serviteur, et Israël, que j'ai choisi.
2 Thus saith Jehovah, thy Creator, He that formed thee, and hath helped thee from thy birth, Fear not, O Jacob, my servant, O Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.
Voici ce que dit Yahvé qui t'a créé, et t'a formé depuis le ventre de ta mère, qui vous aidera à dire: « N'aie pas peur, Jacob mon serviteur; et toi, Jeshurun, que j'ai choisi.
3 For I will pour water upon the thirsty land, And streams upon the dry ground. I will pour out my spirit on thy children, And my blessing on thine offspring;
Car je verserai de l'eau sur celui qui a soif, et des ruisseaux sur le sol sec. Je répandrai mon Esprit sur vos descendants, et ma bénédiction sur ta descendance;
4 And they shall grow up, as among grass; As willows by the water-brooks.
et ils pousseront parmi l'herbe, comme les saules près des cours d'eau.
5 One shall say, “I belong to Jehovah”; Another shall call upon the name of Jacob; Another shall write upon his hand, Jehovah's! And praise the name of Israel.
L'un d'eux dira: « Je suis à Yahvé. Un autre sera appelé par le nom de Jacob; et un autre écrira de sa main « à Yahvé ». et honore le nom d'Israël. »
6 Thus saith Jehovah, the King of Israel, His redeemer, Jehovah of hosts: I am the first, and I the last, And besides me there is no God.
C'est ce que dit Yahvé, le roi d'Israël, et son Rédempteur, Yahvé des Armées, dit: « Je suis le premier, et je suis le dernier; et en dehors de moi, il n'y a pas de Dieu.
7 Who like me hath proclaimed the future, —Let him declare it, and set it in order before me!— Since I established the people of old? Let them make known the future, even that which is to come!
Qui est comme moi? Qui va appeler, et le déclarera, et le mettre en ordre pour moi, depuis que j'ai établi l'ancien peuple? Qu'ils annoncent les choses qui vont arriver, et cela se produira.
8 Fear ye not, neither be ye afraid! Have I not declared and made it known to you of old? Ye are my witnesses; Is there a God beside me? Yea, there is no other rock; I know not any.
N'ayez pas peur, n'ayez pas peur. Ne vous l'ai-je pas déclaré il y a longtemps, et le montrer? Vous êtes mes témoins. Y a-t-il un autre Dieu que moi? En effet, il n'y en a pas. Je ne connais pas d'autre Rock. »
9 They that make a graven image are all of them vanity, And their valued works are profitable for nothing; They are their own witnesses; They neither see nor understand, So that they may be ashamed.
Quiconque fait une image sculptée est vain. Les choses dont ils se délectent ne leur profiteront pas. Leurs propres témoins ne voient pas, ni ne savent, qu'ils peuvent être déçus.
10 Who hath formed a god, And cast a graven image, that is profitable for nothing?
Qui a façonné un dieu, ou façonne une image qui ne rapporte rien?
11 Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed; The workmen are themselves mortal men; They shall all be assembled; they shall stand up; They shall tremble, and be put to shame together!
Voici, tous ses compagnons seront déçus; et les ouvriers ne sont que des hommes. Qu'ils soient tous rassemblés. Laissez-les se lever. Ils auront peur. Ils seront mis à mal ensemble.
12 The smith prepareth an axe in the coals, And fashioneth it with hammers, And worketh it with his strong arm; He becometh hungry, and his strength faileth; He drinketh no water, and is faint.
Le forgeron prend une hache, travaille dans les charbons, le façonne avec des marteaux, et le travaille avec son bras fort. Il a faim, et ses forces s'épuisent; il ne boit pas d'eau, et est faible.
13 The carpenter stretcheth out the line; He marketh out the form of it with the sharp tool; He formeth it with planes; He marketh it with the compass; He maketh it in the figure of a man, With the beauty of a man, To dwell in a house.
Le charpentier tend une corde. Il le marque avec un crayon. Il la façonne avec des avions. Il le marque avec des boussoles, et la façonne comme la silhouette d'un homme, avec la beauté d'un homme, de résider dans une maison.
14 He heweth him down cedars; He taketh the ilex and the oak; He chooseth for himself among the trees of the forest; He planteth the ash, and the rain matureth it;
Il coupe des cèdres pour lui-même, et prend le cyprès et le chêne, et se forge une place parmi les arbres de la forêt. Il plante un cyprès, et la pluie le nourrit.
15 These are fuel for man; He taketh thereof and warmeth himself; He kindleth with it, and baketh bread; A god also he formeth of it, and worshippeth it; A graven image, and falleth down before it.
Alors, ce sera pour un homme de brûler; et il en prend un peu et se réchauffe. Oui, il le brûle et fait du pain. Oui, il crée un dieu et le vénère; il en fait une image sculptée, et se prosterne devant elle.
16 Half of it he burneth with fire; With half of it he eateth flesh; He roasteth meat, and satisfieth himself; He also warmeth himself, and saith, Aha! I am warm; I feel the fire.
Il en brûle une partie dans le feu. Avec une partie de celui-ci, il mange de la viande. Il fait rôtir un rôti et est satisfait. Oui, il se réchauffe et dit, « Aha! Je suis chaud. J'ai vu le feu. »
17 Of the residue he maketh a god, even his graven image; He falleth down before it and worshippeth it, And prayeth to it, and saith, “Deliver me, for thou art my God!”
Le reste, il en fait un dieu, même son image gravée. Il s'incline devant elle et la vénère, et le prie, et dit: « Délivre-moi, car tu es mon dieu! »
18 They know not, neither understand; For their eyes are closed up, that they cannot see, And their hearts, that they cannot understand.
Ils ne savent pas, ils ne considèrent pas non plus, car il leur a fermé les yeux, pour qu'ils ne voient pas, et leur cœur, qu'ils ne peuvent pas comprendre.
19 None considereth in his mind, Or hath knowledge and understanding to say: “Half of it I have burned with fire; I have also baked bread on the coals of it; I have roasted flesh and have eaten; And shall I make the remnant an abomination? Shall I fall down before the stock of a tree?”
Personne ne pense, il n'y a ni connaissance ni compréhension pour dire, « J'en ai brûlé une partie dans le feu. Oui, j'ai aussi cuit du pain sur ses charbons. J'ai rôti de la viande et je l'ai mangée. Dois-je transformer le reste en abomination? Dois-je me prosterner devant un tronc d'arbre? »
20 He toileth for ashes; A deluded heart turneth him aside, So that he cannot deliver himself, and say “Is there not a lie in my right hand?”
Il se nourrit de cendres. Un cœur trompé l'a détourné; et il ne peut pas délivrer son âme, ni dire: « N'y a-t-il pas un mensonge dans ma main droite? »
21 Remember these things, O Jacob, O Israel, for thou art my servant! I formed thee; thou art my servant; O Israel, I will not forget thee.
Souviens-toi de ces choses, Jacob et Israël, car tu es mon serviteur. Je t'ai formé. Tu es mon serviteur. Israël, je ne t'oublierai pas.
22 I have caused thy transgressions to vanish like a cloud, And thy sins like a mist; Return to me, for I have redeemed thee!
J'ai effacé, comme un nuage épais, vos transgressions, et, comme un nuage, vos péchés. Reviens vers moi, car je t'ai racheté.
23 Sing, O ye heavens, for Jehovah hath done it; Shout, O ye depths of the earth! Break forth into song, ye mountains! Thou forest, and every tree therein! For Jehovah hath redeemed Jacob, And glorified himself in Israel.
Cieux, chantez, car Yahvé l'a fait! Criez, parties basses de la terre! Éclatez en chants, montagnes, forêt, tous vos arbres, car Yahvé a racheté Jacob, et se glorifiera en Israël.
24 Thus saith Jehovah, thy Redeemer, Even he that formed thee from the womb; I am Jehovah, who made all things; Who stretched out the heavens alone; Who spread out the earth by myself;
Yahvé, ton rédempteur, et celui qui t'a formé depuis le ventre de ta mère dit: « Je suis Yahvé, qui fait toutes choses; qui seul étend les cieux; qui étend la terre par moi-même;
25 Who frustrateth the signs of deceivers, And maketh the diviners mad; Who putteth the wise men to shame, And maketh their knowledge folly;
qui déjoue les signes des menteurs, et rend les devins fous; qui fait reculer les sages, et rend leur savoir insensé;
26 Who establisheth the word of his servant, And performeth the purpose of his messengers; Who saith of Jerusalem, “She shall be inhabited,” And of the cities of Judah, “They shall be built,” And, “Her desolated places I will restore.”
qui confirme la parole de son serviteur, et exécute les conseils de ses messagers; qui dit de Jérusalem: « Elle sera habitée ». et des villes de Judée: « Elles seront bâties ». et « je relèverai ses ruines ».
27 Who saith to the deep, “Be dry! I will dry up thy streams!”
qui dit à l'abîme: « Sois sec ». et « je vais assécher tes rivières ».
28 Who saith of Cyrus, “He is my shepherd; He shall perform all my pleasure”; Who saith of Jerusalem, “She shall be built,” And of the temple, “Her foundation shall be laid.”
qui dit de Cyrus: « Il est mon berger, et il accomplira toute ma volonté ». même en disant de Jérusalem: « Elle sera bâtie ». et du temple: « Tes fondements seront posés. »"
