Isaiah 40
1 Comfort ye, comfort ye, my people, Saith your God.
Consolai, consolai a meu povo, diz vosso Deus.
2 Speak ye encouragement to Jerusalem, and declare to her, That her hard service is ended; That her iniquity is expiated; That she hath received from the hand of Jehovah Double for all her sins.
Falai ao coração de Jerusalém, e proclamai a ela, que seu esforço de guerra está terminado, que sua perversidade está perdoada; porque já recebeu [punição] em dobro da mão do SENHOR por todo os seus pecados.
3 A voice crieth: “Prepare ye in the wilderness the way of Jehovah; Make straight in the desert a highway for our God!
Voz do que clama no deserto: Preparai o caminho do SENHOR; endireitai na terra estéril vereda ao nosso Deus.
4 Every valley shall be exalted, And every mountain and hill be made low; The crooked shall become straight, And the rough places plain.
Todo vale será levantado, e todo monte e morro serão abaixados; e o torto se endireitará, e o [terreno] acidentado se tornará plano.
5 For the glory of Jehovah shall be revealed, And all flesh shall see it together; For the mouth of Jehovah hath spoken it!”
E a glória do SENHOR se manifestará; e toda carne juntamente verá; pois [assim] falou a boca do SENHOR.
6 A voice said, Proclaim! And I said, What shall I proclaim? All flesh is grass, And all its comeliness as the flower of the field.
Uma voz: Clama! E ele disse: O que clamarei? Que toda carne é erva, e toda a sua bondade como as flores do campo.
7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth, When the breath of Jehovah bloweth upon it. Truly the people is grass.
A erva se seca, as flores caem, porque o Espírito do SENHOR nelas sopra; verdadeiramente o povo é erva.
8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth, But the word of our God shall stand forever.
A erva se seca, as flores caem; porém a palavra do nosso Deus continua firme para sempre.
9 Get thee up on the high mountain, O thou that bringest glad tidings to Zion; Lift up thy voice with strength, thou that bringest glad tidings to Jerusalem; Lift it up; be not afraid; Say to the cities of Judah, Behold your God!
Ó Sião, que anuncias boas novas, sobe até um monte alto! Ó Jerusalém, que anuncias boas novas, levanta tua voz com força; levanta-a, não temas; dize as cidades de Judá: Eis [aqui] o vosso Deus!
10 Behold, the Lord Jehovah shall come with might, And his arm shall rule for him; Behold, his reward is with him, And his recompense before him.
Eis que o Senhor DEUS virá com poder; e seu braço governará por ele; eis que sua retribuição [virá] com ele, e seu pagamento diante de si.
11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd; He shall gather up the lambs in his arms, And carry them in his bosom, And gently lead the nursing ewes.
Como pastor ele apascentará seu rebanho; em seus braços recolherá aos cordeirinhos, e os levará em seu colo; ele guiará mansamente as que tiveram filhotes.
12 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, And meted out the heavens with his span, And gathered the dust of the earth into a measure, And weighed the mountains in scales, And the hills in a balance?
Quem mediu com seu punho as águas, e tomou a medida dos céus aos palmos? E [quem] recolheu numa caixa de medida o pó da terra, e pesou os montes com pesos, e os morros com balanças?
13 Who hath searched out the spirit of Jehovah, Or, being his counsellor, hath taught him?
Quem guiou o Espírito do SENHOR? E que conselheiro o ensinou?
14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, And taught him the path of justice, And taught him knowledge, And showed him the way of understanding?
Com quem ele tomou conselho? [Quem] lhe deu entendimento, e lhe ensinou o caminho do juízo, e lhe ensinou conhecimento, e lhe mostrou o caminho do entendimento?
15 Behold, the nations are as a drop from a bucket, And are accounted as the small dust of the balance; Behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing,
Eis que as nações [lhe] são consideradas como uma gota de balde, e como o pó miúdo das balanças; eis que ele levanta as ilhas como poeira.
16 And Lebanon is not sufficient for fire, Nor its beasts for a burnt-offering.
Nem [todo] o Líbano seria suficiente para o fogo, nem seus animais bastam para um holocausto.
17 All the nations are as nothing before him; They are accounted by him as less than nothing, and vanity.
Todas as nações são como nada perante ele; menos que nada e vazio ele as considera.
18 To whom then will ye liken God, And what likeness will ye compare unto him?
A quem, pois, comparareis a Deus? Ou que semelhança atribuireis a ele?
19 The workman casteth an image, And the smith overlayeth it with gold, And casteth for it silver chains.
O artífice funde a imagem, e o ourives a cobre de ouro, e cadeias de prata [lhe] funde.
20 He that is too poor to make an oblation Chooseth a piece of wood that will not rot; He seeketh for himself a skilful artificer, To prepare an image that shall not be moved.
O empobrecido, que não tem o que oferecer, escolhe madeira que não se estraga, [e] busca um artífice habilidoso, para preparar uma imagem que não se mova.
21 Do ye not know? Have ye not heard? Hath it not been declared to you from the beginning? Have ye not considered the foundations of the earth?
Por acaso não sabeis? Por acaso não ouvis? Ou desde o princípio não vos disseram? Por acaso não tendes entendido desde os fundamentos da terra?
22 It is He that sitteth above the circle of the earth, And the inhabitants are to him as grasshoppers; That stretcheth out the heavens as a canopy, And spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in;
Ele é o que está sentado sobre o globo da terra, cujos moradores são [para ele] como gafanhotos; ele é o que estende os céus como uma cortina, e os estica como uma tenda, para [neles] habitar.
23 That bringeth princes to nothing, And reduceth the rulers of the earth to vanity.
Ele é o que torna os príncipes em nada, [e] faz juízes da terra serem como o vazio.
24 Yea, scarcely are they planted, scarcely are they sown, Scarcely hath their stem taken root in the ground, When He bloweth upon them and they wither, And the whirlwind beareth them away like stubble.
Mal foram plantados, mal foram semeados, mal seu caule forma raízes na terra; e [logo] ele sopra neles, e se secam, e um vento forte os leva como palha fina.
25 To whom then will ye liken me, And to whom shall I be compared? Saith the Holy One.
A quem, pois, me comparareis, que eu lhe seja semelhante?, diz o Santo.
26 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and behold! Who hath created these? He draweth forth their host by number, He calleth them all by name; Through the greatness of his strength and the mightiness of his power, Not one of them faileth to appear.
Levantai vossos olhos ao alto, e vede quem criou estas coisas, que faz sair numerado seu exército; e chama a todos eles pelos nomes, pela grandeza de [suas] forças, e por ser forte em poder, nenhuma [delas] faltará.
27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, “My way is hidden from Jehovah, My cause passeth by before my God”?
Por que dizes, ó Jacó, e falas, ó Israel: Meu caminho está escondido do SENHOR, e meu juízo passa longe de meu Deus?
28 Do ye not know? Have ye not heard? Jehovah is an everlasting God, The creator of the ends of the earth; He fainteth not, nor is he weary; His understanding is unsearchable.
Por acaso não sabes, nem ouviste, que o eterno Deus, o SENHOR, o criador dos confins da terra, não se cansa, nem se fatiga, e que seu entendimento é incompreensível?
29 He giveth power to the faint; To the feeble abundant strength.
Ele dá força ao cansado, e multiplica as forças daquele que não tem vigor.
30 The youths shall faint and be weary, And the young warriors shall utterly fall.
Até os jovens se cansam e se fatigam; e os rapazes caem;
31 But they that trust in Jehovah shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles; They shall run and not be weary; They shall walk and not faint.
Mas os que confiam no SENHOR renovarão as forças, subirão com asas como águias; correrão, e não se cansarão; caminharão, e não se fatigarão.
