Isaiah 37
1 And when the king, Hezekiah, heard it, he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of Jehovah.
১রাজা হিষ্কিয় এটা বিষয়ে শুনেছেন, সে তার কাপড় ছিঁড়লেন, শোকের সাথে নিজেকে ঢেকে সদাপ্রভুর গৃহে আসলেন।
2 And he sent Eliakim, who was over the palace, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz.
২তিনি ইলীয়াকীম পাঠালেন, যিনি পরিবারের উপরে ছিল এবং রাজার লেখক শিবন এবং যাজকদের প্রাচীনেরা চট পরা অবস্থায় আমোসের ছেলে ভাববাদী যিশাইয়ের কাছে পাঠিয়ে দিলেন।
3 And they said to him, Thus saith Hezekiah: This day is a day of distress, of rebuke, and of contempt; for the children have come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.
৩“হিষ্কিয় বলেছেন, আজকের দিন টা হল সংকটের, তিরস্কার এবং অপমানের দিন। কিন্তু সন্তান জন্ম হবার মুখে মায়ের জন্ম দেবার শক্তি নেই।
4 It may be that Jehovah, thy God, will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria, his master, hath sent to reproach the living God, and to revile him with the words which Jehovah, thy God, hath heard. Do thou, therefore, lift up thy prayer for the remnant of the people, that is yet left.
৪অশূরের রাজা ঠাট্টা-বিদ্রূপ করতে রবশাকিকে পাঠিয়েছিলেন, তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু সেই সব কথা শুনে তাকে শাস্তি দেবেন। তাই যারা এখনও বেঁচে আছে তাদের জন্য তুমি প্রার্থনা কর।”
5 And the servants of King Hezekiah came to Isaiah.
৫তাই রাজা হিষ্কিয়ের কর্মচারীরা যিশাইয়ের কাছে আসলেন,
6 And Isaiah said to them, Thus shall ye say to your master: Thus saith Jehovah: Be not afraid on account of the words which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.
৬এবং যিশাইয় তাঁদের বললেন, “তোমাদের মনিবকে বলবে, সদাপ্রভু বলছেন, ‘তুমি যা শুনেছ, অশূরীয়ার রাজার কর্মচারীরা আমার বিরুদ্ধে যে সব কথা বলেছে তাতে ভয় পেয়ো না।
7 Behold, I will put a spirit within him, so that he shall hear a rumor, and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.
৭দেখো, আমি তার মধ্যে এমন একটা আত্মা দেব এবং করব যার ফলে সে একটা খবর শুনে নিজের দেশে ফিরে যাবে, আমি তার নিজের দেশে তলোয়ারের দ্বারা পতন ঘটাব।’”
8 Then Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah, for he had heard that he had departed from Lachish.
৮তখন রবশাকি এবং অশূরের রাজা লাখীশ ছেড়ে চলে গিয়ে লিবনার বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করছেন, কারণ রবশাকি সেখানে গেলেন।
9 Then he heard concerning Tirhakah, king of Ethiopia, that it was said, “He is come forth to war against thee.” And when he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah and said,
৯তখন অশূরের রাজা সনহেরীব খবর পেলেন, কূশ দেশের রাজা তির্হক এবং তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করবার জন্য বের হয়েছেন। এই কথা শুনে তিনি হিষ্কিয়ের কাছে দূতদের পাঠালে। তিনি তাদের বললেন,
10 Thus shall ye say to Hezekiah, the king of Judah: Let not thy God, in whom thou trustest, deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
১০যিহূদার রাজা হিষ্কিয়কে বল, তোমার ঈশ্বরকে বিশ্বাস করে যাকে তুমি প্রতারণা করনি, তাঁর কথা বলেন, অশূরের রাজার হাতে যিরুশালেমকে তুলে দেওয়া হবে না। তাঁর সেই ছলনার কথায় তুমি ভুল কোরো না।
11 Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the lands; how they have utterly destroyed them. And shalt thou be delivered?
১১দেখো, অশূরীয়ার রাজারা কিভাবে অন্য সব দেশকে সম্পূর্ণভাবে ধ্বংস করে দিয়েছেন তুমি তা শুনেছ; তাহলে তুমি কেমন করে মনে করছ তুমি উদ্ধার পাবে?
12 Did the gods of the nations which my father destroyed, deliver them? Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden in Telassar?
১২আমার পূর্বপুরুষেরা যে সব জাতিকে ধ্বংস করেছেন যেমন গোষণ, হারণ, রেৎসফ এবং তলঃসরে বাসকারী এদনের লোকদের দেবতারা কি তাদের উদ্ধার করেছেন?
13 Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arphad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Henah, and of Ivah?
১৩কোথায় হমাতের রাজা, অর্পদের রাজা, সফর্বয়িম শহরের রাজা হেনা এবং ইব্বার রাজা?
14 And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it. Then he went up to the house of Jehovah, and spread it before Jehovah.
১৪হিষ্কিয় চিঠিখানা নিলেন এবং পড়লেন। তখন তিনি সদাপ্রভুর গৃহে গিয়ে সদাপ্রভুর সামনে চিঠিটা পাঠালেন।
15 And Hezekiah prayed before Jehovah, saying,
১৫হিষ্কিয় সদাপ্রভুর কাছে এই প্রার্থনা করলেন:
16 O Jehovah of hosts, God of Israel, who sittest between the cherubs, thou alone art the God of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.
১৬“বাহিনীদের সদাপ্রভু দুই করূবের মাঝখানে থাকা, ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর, তুমি করূবের উপর বসবে। তুমি পৃথিবীর সমস্ত রাজ্যের ঈশ্বর। তুমি আকাশমন্ডল এবং পৃথিবী সৃষ্টি করেছ।
17 Incline thine ear, O Jehovah, and hear; open thine eyes, O Jehovah, and see; and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which he hath sent to reproach the living God.
১৭সদাপ্রভু শোন, সদাপ্রভু তোমার চোখ খোল এবং দেখ; জীবন্ত ঈশ্বরকে অপমান করবার জন্য সনহেরীব যে সব কথা বলে পাঠিয়েছে তা শোন।
18 In truth, O Jehovah, the kings of Assyria have destroyed all the nations, and their lands,
১৮সদাপ্রভু এইটা সত্য, যে তুমি অশূরের রাজাদের সমস্ত জাতি এবং তাদের দেশ ধ্বংস করেছ।
19 and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were not gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone; and they have destroyed them.
১৯ঐ সব জাতিদের ধ্বংস করে তাদের দেবতাদের তারা আগুনে ফেলে নষ্ট করে দিয়েছে। সেগুলো ঈশ্বর নয়, মানুষের হাতে তৈরী কেবল কাঠ আর পাথর মাত্র; তাই তারা তাদের ধ্বংস করতে পেরেছে।
20 But do thou, O Jehovah, our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou alone art Jehovah.
২০আমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু, অশূরের রাজার হাত থেকে তুমি আমাদের রক্ষা কর, যাতে পৃথিবীর সমস্ত রাজ্যগুলো জানতে পারে, তুমি, তুমিই সদাপ্রভু।”
21 Then Isaiah, the son of Amoz, sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: Whereas thou hast prayed to me on account of Sennacherib, the king of Assyria,
২১তখন আমোসের ছেলে যিশাইয় হিষ্কিয়ের কাছে এই খবর পাঠালেন, ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু বলছেন, অশূরের রাজা সনহেরীব বিষয় তুমি প্রার্থনা করতে;
22 This is the word which Jehovah hath spoken against him. The virgin, the daughter of Zion, despiseth thee; she laugheth thee to scorn; The daughter of Jerusalem shaketh her head after thee.
২২তাই তার বিরুদ্ধে সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলছেন, কুমারী মেয়ে সিয়োন তোমাকে তুচ্ছ করবে এবং উপহাস করবে। যিরূশালেমের লোকেরা তোমার পিছন থেকে মাথা নাড়বে।
23 Whom hast thou reproached, and reviled, And against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, And lifted up thine eyes on high? Against the Holy One of Israel.
২৩তুমি কাকে অসম্মান করেছ এবং কার বিরুদ্ধে তুমি অপমানের রব ও গর্বের মধ্যে চোখ তুলে তাকিয়েছ? ইস্রায়েলের সেই পবিত্র ঈশ্বরের বিরুদ্ধেই তুমি এই সব করেছ।
24 By thy servants hast thou reproached the Lord, and said: “With the multitude of my chariots have I ascended the heights of the mountains, the extremities of Lebanon; I have cut down its tall cedars, and its choice cypress-trees; I have come to its utmost height, to its garden forest.
২৪তুমি প্রভুকে টিটকারী দিয়ে এবং গর্ব করে তোমার দাসদের বলে পাঠিয়েছ, তোমার সব রথ দিয়ে তুমি পাহাড়গুলোর চূড়ায়, লিবানোনের সবচেয়ে উঁচু চূড়ায় উঠেছ, তার সবচেয়ে লম্বা এরস গাছ আর ভাল বেরস গাছ কেটে ফেলেছ, তার গভীর বনের সুন্দর জায়গায় ঢুকেছ,
25 I have digged and drunk water, And with the sole of my feet will I dry up all the rivers of Egypt.”
২৫বিদেশের মাটিতে কুয়ো খুঁড়েছ এবং সেখানকার জল খেয়েছ ও তোমার পা দিয়ে মিশরের সব নদীগুলো শুকিয়ে ফেলেছ।
26 Hast thou not heard, that of old I ordained it, And from ancient times purposed it? Now have I brought it to pass, That thou shouldst convert fortified cities into ruinous heaps.
২৬তুমি কি শোন নি, অনেক আগেই আমি তা ঠিক করে রেখেছিলাম এবং অনেক কাল আগেই আমি তার পরিকল্পনা করেছিলাম? আর এখন আমি তা ঘটালাম। সেইজন্য তুমি দেয়াল-ঘেরা শহরগুলো পাথরের ঢিবি করতে পেরেছ।
27 Therefore were their inhabitants of little strength; They were dismayed and confounded; They were as the grass of the field, and the green herb; As grass upon the house-top, and as corn blasted, before it is grown up.
২৭সেখানকার লোকেদের সামান্য শক্তি এবং ভীষণ ভয় ও লজ্জা পেয়েছে। তারা ক্ষেতের ঘাসের মত, গজিয়ে ওঠা সবুজ চারার মত, ছাদের উপরে গজানো ঘাসের মত বেড়ে উঠবার আগেই শুকিয়ে যায়।
28 I know thy sitting down, thy going out, and thy coming in, And thy rage against me.
২৮কিন্তু তুমি কোথায় থাক, কখন আসছ এবং যাও কেমন করে আমার বিরুদ্ধে রেগে ওঠ তা সবই আমি জানি।
29 Because thy rage against me, and thy insolence, is come up into my ears, I will put my ring into thy nose, And my bridle into thy lips, And turn thee back by the way in which thou camest.
২৯কারণ তুমি আমার বিরুদ্ধে রেগে উঠেছ এবং তোমার গর্বের কথা আমার কানে এসেছে, আমি তোমার নাকে আমার হুক লাগাব এবং তোমার মুখে আমার বল্গা লাগাব, আর যে পথ দিয়ে তুমি এসেছ সেই পথেই ফিরে যেতে আমি তোমাকে বাধ্য করব।
30 And this shall be the sign to thee; Eat this year that which groweth of itself, And in the second year that which groweth of itself, And in the third year ye shall sow and reap, And plant vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof.
৩০এটা তোমার চিহ্ন হবে: এই বছর নিজে নিজে যা জন্মাবে তোমরা তাই খাবে, আর দ্বিতীয় বছরে তা থেকে যা জন্মাবে তা খাবে। কিন্তু তৃতীয় বছরে তোমরা বীজ বুনবে ও ফসল কাটবে আর আঙ্গুর ক্ষেত করে তার ফল খাবে।
31 And the remnant of the house of Judah, that have escaped, Shall again strike root downward, And bear fruit upward.
৩১যিহূদা-গোষ্ঠীর লোকেরা তখনও বেঁচে থাকবে তারা আর তারা গাছের মত নীচে শিকড়ের ফল ফলাবে।
32 For from Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, And they that have escaped from mount Zion. The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will perform this.
৩২কারণ বেঁচে থাকা লোকেরা যিরূশালেম থেকে আসবে, সিয়োন পর্বত থেকে আসবে বেঁচে একদল লোক। বাহিনীদের সদাপ্রভুর উদ্যোগী এই কাজ করবে।
33 Therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts concerning the king of Assyria; He shall not come into this city, Nor shoot an arrow into it; He shall not present a shield before it, Nor cast up a mound against it.
৩৩সেইজন্য অশূরীয়ার রাজার বিষয়ে সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলছেন, সে এই শহরে ঢুকবে না ও এখানে একটা তীরও মারবে না। সে ঢাল নিয়ে এর সামনে আসবে না ঘেরাও করে ওঠা-নামা করবার জন্য কিছু তৈরী করবে না।
34 By the way in which he came, by the same shall he return, And into this city shall he not come, saith Jehovah.
৩৪সে যে পথ দিয়ে এসেছে সেই পথেই ফিরে যাবে; এই শহরে সে ঢুকবে না। আমি সদাপ্রভু ঘোষণা করছি।
35 For I will defend this city, and deliver it, For mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.
৩৫কারণ আমি এই শহরকে রক্ষা করব এবং এটিকে উদ্ধার করব, কারণ আমি আমার দাস দায়ূদের জন্য এটা করব।
36 Then an angel of Jehovah went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and eighty-five thousand men; and when the people arose early in the morning, behold they were all dead corpses.
৩৬তারপর সদাপ্রভুর দূত বের হয়ে অশূরীয়দের শিবিরে এক লক্ষ পঁচাশি হাজার লোককে মেরে ফেললেন। পরদিন সকালবেলা লোকেরা যখন উঠল তখন দেখা গেল সব জায়গায় কেবল মৃতদেহ।
37 Then Sennacherib, king of Assyria, decamped, and went away, and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.
৩৭তাই অশূরীয়ার রাজা সনহেরীব তাঁর সৈন্যদল নিয়ে চলে গেলেন এবং নীনবী শহরে থাকতে লাগলেন।
38 And as he was worshipping in the temple of Nisroch, his god, he was slain with the sword by his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer, who escaped into the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon, his son, reigned in his stead.
৩৮পরে, তিনি তাঁর দেবতা নিষ্রোকের বাড়িতে উপাসনা করতেন, অদ্রম্মেলক ও শরেৎসর তরোয়াল দিয়ে তাকে মেরে ফেলেছে। তখন তারা অরারট দেশে পালিয়ে গেল। তার জায়গায় তাঁর ছেলে এসর-হদ্দোন রাজা হলেন।
