< Isaiah 33 >
1 Woe to thee, thou spoiler, who hast not been spoiled! Thou plunderer, who hast not been plundered! When thou hast ceased to spoil, thou shalt be spoiled; When thou hast finished plundering, they shall plunder thee.
A UWE oe ka mea anai aku, Aole hoi oe i anaiia mai; Ka mea hao wale aku, aole nae lakou i hao mai ia oe! A pau kau anai ana aku, alaila e anaiia mai oe; A pau kou hao ana aku, alaila lakou e hao mai ai ia oe.
2 O Jehovah, have mercy upon us! in thee do we trust; Be thou our strength every morning, Our salvation in the time of trouble.
E Iehova, e maliu mai oe ia makou, Ua kakali makou ia oe, E lilo no oe i mea kokua ia lakou i kakahiaka, I mea hoi e ola'i makou i ka manawa popilikia.
3 At the voice of thy thunder the people flee; When thou dost arise, the nations are scattered.
I ka leo o ka lehulehu, hee aku la na kanaka, Ia oe i ala'i iluna, hoopuehuia'ku la na lahuikanaka.
4 Your spoil shall be gathered, as the locust gathereth; As the locust runneth, so shall they run upon it.
E hoiliiliia no ko oukou waiwai pio, Me ko ka enuhe hoiliiliia; A e like me ka holo ana o na uhini io ia nei, Pela no ia e holo ai maluna ona,
5 Jehovah is exalted; Yea, he dwelleth on high; He filleth Zion with justice and righteousness.
Ua hapaiia o Iehova, no ka mea, maluna no oia e noho ana; Ua hoopiha no oia ia Ziona i ka pono a me ka maikai.
6 There shall be security in thy times; Wisdom and knowledge shall be thy store of prosperity, And the fear of Jehovah, this shall be thy treasure!
E lilo ana ke akamai a me ka ike, I kumu paa o kou manawa, i mea kokua ikaika hoi; O ka makau ia Iehova, oia kona waiwai malama.
7 Behold, the mighty men cry without: The ambassadors of peace weep bitterly.
Aia, e uwe ana ko lakou poe ikaika mawaho; E uwe walania no hoi na luna imi malu.
8 The highways are desolate; The traveller ceaseth; He breaketh the covenant; he despiseth the cities; Of men he maketh no account.
Ua haaleleia na alanui, Ua oki ka mea hele; Ua uhai oia i ka berita, Ua hoowahawaha oia i na kulanakauhale; Aole ia i manao i ke kanaka.
9 The land mourneth and languisheth; Lebanon is put to shame, and withered away; Sharon is like a desert, And Bashan and Carmel are stripped of their leaves.
Ua uwe ka aina, ua kanikau hoi; Ua hilahila o Lebanona, ua mae wale; Ua like o Sarona me ka waonahele; Lulu iho o Basana, a me Karemela i na lau.
10 Now will I arise, saith Jehovah, Now will I exalt myself, Now will I lift myself up.
Ano, e ku no owau iluna, wahi a Iehova, Ano, e hapaiia no wau, Ano la wau e hookiekieia.
11 Ye shall conceive chaff, and bring forth stubble; Your own wrath is the fire which shall devour you.
E hapai auanei oukou, i mauu maloo, E hanau mai no hoi oukou, i opala. Na ko oukou hanu no e hoopau ia oukou iho me he ahi la.
12 The nations shall be burnt into lime; Like thorns cut down, they shall be consumed with fire.
E like auanei ua lahuikanaka me ke kahu ana i ka puna: E puhiia no i ke ahi, e like me na kakalaioa i okiia.
13 Hear, ye that are far off, what I have done; Mark, ye that are near, my power!
E ka poe ma kahi mamao aku, E hoolohe mai oukou i ka'u hana ana; A me ka poe e kokoke mai hoi, E hoomaopopo oukou i ko'u mana.
14 The sinners in Zion are struck with dread; Terror hath seized upon the unrighteous: “Who among us can dwell in devouring fire? Who among us can dwell in everlasting flames?”
Ua makau ka poe hewa ma Ziona, Ua loohia ka poe aia i ka haalulu. Owai la ka mea o kakou e hiki ke noho me ke ahi e hoopau ana? Owai la ka mea o kakou e hiki ke noho me ka wela mau loa?
15 He that walketh in righteousness, And speaketh that which is right, That despiseth the gain of oppression, And shaketh his hands from bribery, That stoppeth his ears, so as not to hear of blood, And shutteth his eyes, so as not to behold iniquity.
O ka mea hele ma ka pono, a olelo hoi ma ka pololei; O ka mea hoowahawaha i ka waiwai o ka hookaumaha ana, O ka mea lulu mawaho aku o kona lima i ka waiwai i loaa ma ke kipe ana; O ka mea pani i kona mau pepeiao o lohe i ke koko, O ka mea hoopili i kona mau maka, i ike ole ia i ka hewa;
16 He shall dwell on high; The strongholds of rocks shall be his defence; His bread shall be given him; His water shall not fail.
Oia ka mea e noho ana ma kahi kiekie; O na pa pohaka kona puuhonua: E haawiia no ka ai nana, a e mau ana hoi kona wai inu.
17 Thine eyes shall see the king in his glory They shall survey a wide-extended land.
E ike aku no kou mau maka i ke alii i kona nani; E ike no hoi lakou i ka aina ma kahi loihi aku.
18 Thy heart shall meditate on the past terror: “Where now is the scribe? Where the weigher of tribute? Where he that numbered the towers?”
E hoomanao ana no kou naau i ka makau i hala. Auhea ke kakauolelo? auhea hoi ka lunakaupaona? Auhea ka mea helu i na halekiai?
19 Thou shalt see no more a fierce people, A people of a dark language, which thou couldst not hear, And of a barbarous tongue, which thou couldst not understand;
Aole oe e ike hou aku i ka lahuikanaka ikaika, I ka lahuikanaka olelo ike ole ia, ma ka lohe ana, I ke alelo namu hoi au i hoomaopopo ole ai.
20 Thou shalt see Zion, the city of our solemn feasts; Thine eyes shall behold Jerusalem, as a quiet habitation. A tent that shall never be moved, Whose stakes shall never be taken away, And whose cords shall never be broken.
E ike auanei oe ia Ziona, I ke kulanakauhale o ka kakou ahaaina ana; E ike auanei kou mau maka ia Ierusalema. He wahi noho i hoomaluia, He halelewa hoi, aole e lawe hou ia'ku; Aole e unuhiia kona mau makia a i ka manawa pau ole, Aole hoi e moku kekahi o kona mau kaula.
21 For there the glorious Jehovah will be to us Instead of rivers and broad streams, Which no oared galley shall pass, And no gallant ship go through.
Malaila io no ka nani o Iehova no kakou, He wahi muliwai nui, a akea ma na aoao a pau, Aole moku holo maloko olaila me ka hoe, Aole moku nui e holo ae a kela aoao.
22 For Jehovah is our judge; Jehovah is our lawgiver; Jehovah is our king; it is he that will save us.
No ka mea, o Iehova no ko kakou lunakanawai, O Iehova ka mea kau i ke kanawai maluna o kakou, O Iehova ko kakou alii; Oia ka mea e hoola mai ai ia kakou.
23 Thy ropes hang loose; They cannot hold the mast-socket, Nor can they spread the sail. Then shall a great spoil be divided; Even the lame shall take the prey.
Ua weheia kou mau kaula, Aole hiki ia lakou ke hoopaa i ka papakukia, Aole hoi e hiki ke kau i ka hae; Alaila puunaueia ka waiwai pio nui; E hiki no i ka poe oopa ke hopu iho i ka waiwai pio.
24 No inhabitant shall say, I am sick; The people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity.
Aole e olelo ka mea e noho ana, Ua mai au; O na kanaka E noho ana maloko, Ua kalaia ko lakou hewa.
