Hebrews 4
1 Let us then fear, since a promise is still left us of entering into his rest, lest any one of you should appear to fail of obtaining it.
Bójmy się więc, gdy jeszcze trwa obietnica wejścia do jego odpoczynku, aby czasem się nie okazało, że ktoś z was [jej] nie osiągnął.
2 For to us were glad tidings addressed, as well as to them; but the word which was heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.
I nam bowiem głoszono ewangelię jak i tamtym. Lecz tamtym nie pomogło słowo, które słyszeli, gdyż nie było powiązane z wiarą tych, którzy [je] słyszeli.
3 For we who believed enter into the rest, as he hath said: “So I swore in my wrath, they shall not enter into my rest;” although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
Bo do odpoczynku wchodzimy my, którzy uwierzyliśmy, jak powiedział: Dlatego przysiągłem w moim gniewie, że nie wejdą do mojego odpoczynku, choć [jego] dzieła były dokonane od założenia świata.
4 For he hath spoken in a certain place of the seventh day thus: “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works;”
Powiedział bowiem w pewnym miejscu o siódmym dniu tak: I odpoczął Bóg siódmego dnia od wszystkich swoich dzieł.
5 and in this place again: “They shall not enter into my rest.”
A tutaj znowu: Nie wejdą do mego odpoczynku.
6 Since then it still remaineth for some to enter into it, and they to whom the glad tidings of it were first brought did not enter in because of disobedience,
Ponieważ więc jest tak, że niektórzy mają wejść do niego, a ci, którym najpierw głoszono, nie weszli z powodu niewiary;
7 he again appointeth a certain day, “To-day”—saying in David so long a time after, as hath before been said—”To-day, if ye hear his voice, harden not your hearts.”
Znowu wyznacza pewien dzień, mówiąc przez Dawida po tak długim czasie „Dzisiaj”, jak to zostało powiedziane: Dzisiaj, jeśli usłyszycie jego głos, nie zatwardzajcie waszych serc.
8 For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not after this be speaking of another day.
Gdyby bowiem Jozue zapewnił im odpoczynek, [Bóg] nie mówiłby potem o innym dniu.
9 There remaineth therefore a sabbath-rest to the people of God.
A tak zostaje [jeszcze] odpoczynek dla ludu Bożego.
10 For he that hath entered into his rest, hath himself rested from his works, as God did from his own.
Kto bowiem wszedł do jego odpoczynku, on także odpoczął od swoich czynów, tak jak Bóg od swoich.
11 Let us then strive to enter into that rest, that no one may fall, as a like example of disobedience.
Starajmy się więc wejść do owego odpoczynku, aby nikt nie wpadł w ten sam przykład niewiary.
12 For the word of God is living, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, both the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart;
Słowo Boże bowiem jest żywe i skuteczne, ostrzejsze niż wszelki miecz obosieczny, przenikające aż do rozdzielenia duszy i ducha, stawów i szpiku, [zdolne] rozsądzić myśli i zamiary serca.
13 and there is no creature that is not manifest in his sight; but all things are naked and laid open to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
[Żadne] stworzenie nie ukryje się przed nim, przeciwnie, wszystko jest obnażone i odkryte przed oczami tego, któremu musimy zdać sprawę.
14 Since, then, we have a great high-priest, who hath passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
Mając więc wielkiego najwyższego kapłana, który przeszedł przez niebiosa, Jezusa, Syna Bożego, trzymajmy się [naszego] wyznania.
15 For we have not a high-priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who hath in all points been tempted as we are, without sin.
Nie mamy bowiem najwyższego kapłana, który by nie mógł współczuć naszym słabościom, lecz kuszonego we wszystkim podobnie jak [my], ale bez grzechu.
16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Przystąpmy więc z ufnością do tronu łaski, abyśmy dostąpili miłosierdzia i znaleźli łaskę ku pomocy w stosownej chwili.
