1 Let brotherly love continue.
bhrAtR^iShu prema tiShThatu| atithisevA yuShmAbhi rna vismaryyatAM
2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers; for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
yatastayA prachChannarUpeNa divyadUtAH keShA nchid atithayo. abhavan|
3 Remember those in bonds, as bound with them; those in distress, as being yourselves also in the body.
bandinaH sahabandibhiriva duHkhinashcha dehavAsibhiriva yuShmAbhiH smaryyantAM|
4 Let marriage be honored in all respects, and the bed be undefiled; but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
vivAhaH sarvveShAM samIpe sammAnitavyastadIyashayyA cha shuchiH kintu veshyAgAminaH pAradArikAshcheshvareNa daNDayiShyante|
5 Let your disposition be without covetousness, and be content with what ye have; for he hath said, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee;”
yUyam AchAre nirlobhA bhavata vidyamAnaviShaye santuShyata cha yasmAd Ishvara evedaM kathitavAn, yathA, "tvAM na tyakShyAmi na tvAM hAsyAmi|"
6 so that we boldly say, “The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear; what shall man do to me?”
ataeva vayam utsAhenedaM kathayituM shaknumaH, "matpakShe paramesho. asti na bheShyAmi kadAchana| yasmAt mAM prati kiM karttuM mAnavaH pArayiShyati||"
7 Remember your leaders, who spoke to you the word of God; and considering well the end of their manner of life, imitate their faith.
yuShmAkaM ye nAyakA yuShmabhyam Ishvarasya vAkyaM kathitavantaste yuShmAbhiH smaryyantAM teShAm AchArasya pariNAmam Alochya yuShmAbhisteShAM vishvAso. anukriyatAM|
8 Jesus Christ is yesterday and to-day the same, and for ever. (aiōn )
yIshuH khrIShTaH shvo. adya sadA cha sa evAste| (aiōn )
9 Be not carried aside with various and strange teachings; for it is good that the heart be established with grace, not with meats, in which those who walked were not profited.
yUyaM nAnAvidhanUtanashikShAbhi rna parivarttadhvaM yato. anugraheNAntaHkaraNasya susthirIbhavanaM kShemaM na cha khAdyadravyaiH| yatastadAchAriNastai rnopakR^itAH|
10 We have an altar, of which they cannot eat who serve the tabernacle.
ye daShyasya sevAM kurvvanti te yasyA dravyabhojanasyAnadhikAriNastAdR^ishI yaj navedirasmAkam Aste|
11 For the bodies of those beasts whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high-priest are burned without the camp.
yato yeShAM pashUnAM shoNitaM pApanAshAya mahAyAjakena mahApavitrasthAnasyAbhyantaraM nIyate teShAM sharIrANi shibirAd bahi rdahyante|
12 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people by his own blood, suffered without the gate.
tasmAd yIshurapi yat svarudhireNa prajAH pavitrIkuryyAt tadarthaM nagaradvArasya bahi rmR^itiM bhuktavAn|
13 Let us then go forth to him without the camp, bearing his reproach;
ato hetorasmAbhirapi tasyApamAnaM sahamAnaiH shibirAd bahistasya samIpaM gantavyaM|
14 for here we have no abiding city, but are seeking that which is to come.
yato. atrAsmAkaM sthAyi nagaraM na vidyate kintu bhAvi nagaram asmAbhiranviShyate|
15 Through him therefore let us offer up a sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of lips giving thanks to his name.
ataeva yIshunAsmAbhi rnityaM prashaMsArUpo balirarthatastasya nAmA NgIkurvvatAm oShThAdharANAM phalam IshvarAya dAtavyaM|
16 But works of kindness and liberality forget not; for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
apara ncha paropakAro dAna ncha yuShmAbhi rna vismaryyatAM yatastAdR^ishaM balidAnam IshvarAya rochate|
17 Obey your leaders, and submit yourselves to them; for they keep watch in behalf of your souls, as those who must give an account; that they may do this with joy, and not with grief; for this is not for your advantage.
yUyaM svanAyakAnAm Aj nAgrAhiNo vashyAshcha bhavata yato yairupanidhiH pratidAtavyastAdR^ishA lokA iva te yuShmadIyAtmanAM rakShaNArthaM jAgrati, ataste yathA sAnandAstat kuryyu rna cha sArttasvarA atra yatadhvaM yatasteShAm Arttasvaro yuShmAkam iShTajanako na bhavet|
18 Pray for us; for we are persuaded that we have a good conscience, desiring in all things to conduct ourselves well;
apara ncha yUyam asmannimittiM prArthanAM kuruta yato vayam uttamamanovishiShTAH sarvvatra sadAchAraM karttum ichChukAshcha bhavAma iti nishchitaM jAnImaH|
19 but I the more earnestly entreat you to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner.
visheShato. ahaM yathA tvarayA yuShmabhyaM puna rdIye tadarthaM prArthanAyai yuShmAn adhikaM vinaye|
20 Now may the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of an everlasting covenant, even our Lord Jesus, (aiōnios )
anantaniyamasya rudhireNa vishiShTo mahAn meShapAlako yena mR^itagaNamadhyAt punarAnAyi sa shAntidAyaka Ishvaro (aiōnios )
21 make you perfect in every good work, to do his will, doing in you that which is well-pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be the glory for ever. Amen. (aiōn )
nijAbhimatasAdhanAya sarvvasmin satkarmmaNi yuShmAn siddhAn karotu, tasya dR^iShTau cha yadyat tuShTijanakaM tadeva yuShmAkaM madhye yIshunA khrIShTena sAdhayatu| tasmai mahimA sarvvadA bhUyAt| Amen| (aiōn )
22 But I beseech you, brethren, bear with the word of my exhortation; for I have written to you in few words.
he bhrAtaraH, vinaye. ahaM yUyam idam upadeshavAkyaM sahadhvaM yato. ahaM saMkShepeNa yuShmAn prati likhitavAn|
23 Know that the brother Timothy hath been set at liberty, with whom, if he come shortly, I will see you.
asmAkaM bhrAtA tImathiyo mukto. abhavad iti jAnIta, sa cha yadi tvarayA samAgachChati tarhi tena sArddhaMm ahaM yuShmAn sAkShAt kariShyAmi|
24 Salute all your leaders, and all the saints. Those from Italy salute you.
yuShmAkaM sarvvAn nAyakAn pavitralokAMshcha namaskuruta| aparam itAliyAdeshIyAnAM namaskAraM j nAsyatha|
25 Grace be with you all. Amen.
anugraho yuShmAkaM sarvveShAM sahAyo bhUyAt| Amen|
