Haggai 1
1 In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, came the word of Jehovah by Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua, the son of Josedech, the high-priest, saying,
Uti andra årena Konungs Darios, uti sjette månadenom, på första dagen i månadenom, skedde Herrans ord, genom den Propheten Haggai, till Serubbabel, Sealthiels son, Juda Första, och till Jehosua, Jozadaks son, den öfversta Presten, och sade:
2 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: This people saith, The time is not yet come, the time that the house of Jehovah should be built.
Så säger Herren Zebaoth: Detta folket säger: Tiden är ännu icke kommen, att man Herrans hus bygga skall.
3 But the word of Jehovah hath come by Haggai the prophet, saying: —
Och Herrans ord skedde genom den Propheten Haggai sägandes:
4 Is it, then, a time for yourselves To dwell in ceiled houses, While this house lieth waste?
Månn då edar tid vara kommen, att I bo skolen uti hvälfdom husom, och detta huset måste öde stå?
5 Therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Consider how it goeth with you!
Nu, så säger Herren Zebaoth: Ser, huru det går eder.
6 Ye sow much, and bring in little; Ye eat, but are not full; Ye drink, but are not satisfied; Ye clothe yourselves, but are not warmed; And he that earneth wages earneth them for a purse with holes.
I sån mycket, och fören litet in; I äten, och varden dock icke mätte; I dricken, och varden dock intet otörstige; I kläden eder, och kunnen dock intet värma eder; och den der penningar förtjenar, han lägger dem uti hålogan pung.
7 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Consider how it goeth with you!
Så säger Herren Zebaoth: Ser, huru det går eder.
8 Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house, That I may have pleasure therein, And be glorified, saith Jehovah.
Går upp på berget, och hemter trä, och bygger huset; det skall vara mig tacknämligt och jag skall bevisa mina äro, säger Herren.
9 Ye look for much, and lo, it cometh to little; And when ye bring it home, I blow it away; And why? saith Jehovah of hosts. Because of my house which lieth waste, While ye run every one to his own house.
Ty I vänten väl efter mycket, och si, det varder litet; och om I än fören det hem, så blås jag dock det bort. Hvi så? säger Herren Zebaoth. Derföre, att mitt hus så öde står, och hvar och en hastar med sino huse;
10 Therefore the heaven over you withholdeth the dew, And the earth refuseth her fruit.
Derföre hafver himmelen förhållit daggena öfver eder, och jorden sina frukt.
11 And I have called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains; And upon the corn, and the new wine, and the oil; Upon that which the ground bringeth forth, And upon men, and upon cattle, And upon all the labor of the hands.
Och jag hafver kallat torko, både öfver land och berg, öfver korn, vin, oljo, och öfver allt det utaf jordene kommer; och öfver folk och fä, och öfver allt händers arbete.
12 Then Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua, the son of Josedech, the high-priest, and all the remnant of people, hearkened to the voice of Jehovah their God, and to the words of Haggai the prophet, as Jehovah their God had sent him; and the people feared before Jehovah.
Då hörde Serubbabel, Sealthiels son, och Jehosua, Jozadaks son, den öfverste Presten, och alle öfverblefne af folket, sådana Herrans, deras Guds, röst, och Prophetens Haggai ord; såsom Herren, deras Gud, honom sändt hade; och folket fruktade sig för Herranom.
13 Then spake Haggai, the messenger of Jehovah, by a message from Jehovah to the people, saying, I am with you, saith Jehovah.
Då sade Haggai, Herrans Ängel, som Herrans bådskap hade till folket: Jag är med eder, säger Herren.
14 And Jehovah stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua, the son of Josedech, the high-priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of people, so that they came and executed work upon the house of Jehovah of hosts, their God,
Och Herren uppväckte Serubbabels anda, Sealthiels sons, Juda Förstas, och Jehosua anda, Jozadaks sons, dens öfversta Prestens, och allt igenlefda folkens anda; så att de kommo, och arbetade uppå Herrans Zebaoths, deras Guds, hus.
15 on the four and twentieth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.
På fjerde och tjugonde dagen i sjette månadenom, uti andro årena Konungs Darios;
