Haggai 1
1 In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, came the word of Jehovah by Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua, the son of Josedech, the high-priest, saying,
No segundo ano de Dario o rei, no sexto mês, no primeiro dia do mês, a palavra de Javé veio por Ageu, o profeta, a Zorobabel, filho de Shealtiel, governador de Judá, e a Josué, filho de Jehozadak, o sumo sacerdote, dizendo:
2 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: This people saith, The time is not yet come, the time that the house of Jehovah should be built.
“Isto é o que diz Javé dos Exércitos: Estas pessoas dizem: “Ainda não chegou a hora, a hora da construção da casa de Yahweh”.
3 But the word of Jehovah hath come by Haggai the prophet, saying: —
Então a palavra de Javé veio por Haggai, o profeta, dizendo:
4 Is it, then, a time for yourselves To dwell in ceiled houses, While this house lieth waste?
“É um momento para vocês mesmos morarem em suas casas em painéis, enquanto esta casa é um desperdício?
5 Therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Consider how it goeth with you!
Agora, portanto, é isto que Javé dos Exércitos diz: “Considerem seus caminhos.
6 Ye sow much, and bring in little; Ye eat, but are not full; Ye drink, but are not satisfied; Ye clothe yourselves, but are not warmed; And he that earneth wages earneth them for a purse with holes.
Vocês semearam muito, e trazem pouco. Vocês comem, mas não têm o suficiente. Você bebe, mas não está cheio de bebida. Vocês se vestem, mas ninguém está quente; e quem ganha salário, ganha salário para colocá-los em uma bolsa com buracos”.
7 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Consider how it goeth with you!
“Isto é o que diz Yahweh dos Exércitos: “Considere seus caminhos.
8 Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house, That I may have pleasure therein, And be glorified, saith Jehovah.
Vá até a montanha, traga madeira e construa a casa. Terei prazer nisso e serei glorificado”, diz Yahweh.
9 Ye look for much, and lo, it cometh to little; And when ye bring it home, I blow it away; And why? saith Jehovah of hosts. Because of my house which lieth waste, While ye run every one to his own house.
“Você procurou muito, e eis que chegou a pouco; e quando você a trouxe para casa, eu a explodi”. Por que”, diz Yahweh dos Exércitos, “Por causa da minha casa que jaz desperdício, enquanto cada um de vocês está ocupado com sua própria casa”.
10 Therefore the heaven over you withholdeth the dew, And the earth refuseth her fruit.
Portanto, para vosso bem, os céus retêm o orvalho, e a terra retém seus frutos.
11 And I have called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains; And upon the corn, and the new wine, and the oil; Upon that which the ground bringeth forth, And upon men, and upon cattle, And upon all the labor of the hands.
Eu pedi uma seca na terra, nas montanhas, nos grãos, no vinho novo, no óleo, naquilo que o solo produz, nos homens, no gado, e em todo o trabalho das mãos”.
12 Then Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua, the son of Josedech, the high-priest, and all the remnant of people, hearkened to the voice of Jehovah their God, and to the words of Haggai the prophet, as Jehovah their God had sent him; and the people feared before Jehovah.
Então Zerubabel, filho de Shealtiel, e Josué, filho de Jehozadak, o sumo sacerdote, com todo o restante do povo, obedeceram a Javé sua voz de Deus, e as palavras de Ageu, o profeta, como Javé seu Deus o havia enviado; e o povo temia a Javé.
13 Then spake Haggai, the messenger of Jehovah, by a message from Jehovah to the people, saying, I am with you, saith Jehovah.
Então Haggai, mensageiro de Javé, falou a mensagem de Javé ao povo, dizendo: “Eu estou com você”, diz Javé.
14 And Jehovah stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua, the son of Josedech, the high-priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of people, so that they came and executed work upon the house of Jehovah of hosts, their God,
Javé despertou o espírito de Zorobabel, filho de Shealtiel, governador de Judá, e o espírito de Josué, filho de Jehozadak, sumo sacerdote, e o espírito de todo o resto do povo; e eles vieram e trabalharam na casa de Javé dos Exércitos, seu Deus,
15 on the four and twentieth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.
no vigésimo quarto dia do mês, no sexto mês, no segundo ano de Dario, o rei.
