Ezekiel 7
1 Moreover, the word of Jehovah came to me, saying:
La parole de Yahweh me fut adressée en ces termes:
2 Thou son of man, thus saith the Lord Jehovah concerning the land of Israel: —
Et toi, fils de l'homme, ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh au pays d'Israël: La fin! La fin vient sur les quatre coins de la terre!
3 The end cometh, the end cometh, Upon the four corners of the land! Now cometh the end upon thee! For I will send my anger upon thee, And will judge thee according to thy ways, And will recompense upon thee all thine abominations.
Maintenant la fin vient sur toi; je vais donner cours à ma colère contre toi; je te jugerai d'après tes œuvres; je ferai retomber sur toi toutes tes abominations.
4 And mine eye shall not spare thee, neither will I have pity; But I will recompense thy ways upon thee, And thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee; And ye shall know that I am Jehovah.
Mon œil ne t'épargnera pas, et je serai sans pitié; car je ferai retomber sur toi tes œuvres, et tes abominations seront au milieu de toi; et vous saurez que je suis Yahweh.
5 Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: An evil, an unheard-of evil, behold, it cometh!
Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh: Un malheur unique! Un malheur! Voici qu'il arrive!
6 The end cometh, the end cometh! It awaketh against thee, behold, it cometh!
Une fin vient! La fin arrive! Elle s'éveille contre toi; voici qu'elle arrive!
7 Thy fate cometh upon thee, thou that dwellest in the land! The time is come, The day of tumult is near, When no sound of joy shall be upon the mountains.
Ton sort est venu, habitant du pays; le temps vient, le jour est proche! Du tumulte!... et non le cri de joie sur les montagnes.
8 Now will I shortly pour out my fury upon thee, And accomplish mine anger against thee; And I will judge thee according to thy ways, And recompense upon thee all thine abominations.
Maintenant, je vais sans tarder répandre mon courroux sur toi; j'assouvirai sur toi ma colère, je te jugerai selon tes voies, et je ferai retomber sur toi toutes tes abominations.
9 And mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity; I will recompense thee according to thy ways, And thine abominations shall come upon thee; And ye shall know that I, Jehovah, smite you.
Mon œil n'épargnera pas, et je serai sans pitié; je ferai retomber sur toi tes œuvres, tes abominations seront au milieu de toi; et vous saurez que c'est moi, Yahweh, qui frappe!
10 Behold, the day, behold, it cometh! The destiny draweth near; The rod hath blossomed, pride hath flourished.
Voici le jour; voici qu'il vient; ton sort est arrivé; la verge fleurit, l'orgueil éclôt.
11 Violence is risen up into a rod of wickedness; None of them shall remain, none of their multitude, none of their crowd; Nor shall there be wailing for them.
La violence s'élève, pour être la verge de l'impiété. Il ne restera rien d'eux, ni de leur multitude, ni de leur tumulte, et ils n'auront plus d'éclat.
12 The time cometh, the day draweth near! Let not the buyer rejoice, Nor the seller mourn; For wrath is against their whole multitude.
Le temps vient, le jour approche! Que l'acheteur ne se réjouisse pas, et que le vendeur ne s'afflige point; car la colère va éclater sur toute leur multitude.
13 For the seller shall not return to that which is sold, Though he be yet alive; For the vision against their whole multitude shall not return void, And none that liveth in his iniquity shall strengthen himself
Le vendeur ne rentrera pas en possession de ce qu'il aura vendu, fût-il encore parmi les vivants; car la vision contre toute leur multitude ne sera point révoquée, et nul par son péché n'assurera sa vie.
14 “Blow ye the trumpet, and let all be ready!” Yet none goeth to the battle; For mine anger is against their whole multitude.
On sonne la trompette, et tout est prêt; mais personne ne marche au combat, car ma colère est contre toute leur multitude.
15 The sword is without, and pestilence and famine within; He that is in the field shall die by the sword; And he that is in the city, famine and pestilence shall devour him.
Au dehors, l'épée; au dedans, la peste et la famine; celui qui est aux champs mourra par l'épée, et celui qui est dans la ville, la famine et la peste le dévoreront.
16 And those of them that escape shall be upon the mountains like doves of the valleys, All of them mourning, every one for his iniquity.
Si des fugitifs parmi eux s'enfuient, ils erreront sur les montagnes comme les colombes des vallées, tous gémissant, chacun pour son péché.
17 All hands shall be feeble, And all knees shall flow with water.
Toutes les mains sont défaillantes, et tous les genoux se fondent en eau.
18 They shall also gird themselves with sackcloth, And horror shall cover them. And upon all their faces shall be shame, And upon all their heads baldness.
Ils se revêtent de sacs, et la terreur les enveloppe; la confusion est sur tous les visages, et toutes les têtes sont rasées.
19 Their silver shall they cast into the streets, And their gold shall be as an unclean thing. Their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them In the day of the wrath of Jehovah; Their hunger shall not be satisfied, Nor their body filled with it; For it was the stumbling-block of their iniquity.
Ils jetteront leur argent dans les rues, et leur or sera pour eux de l'ordure; leur argent et leur or ne pourront les délivrer, au jour de la colère de Yahweh; ils n'en rassasieront pas leur âme, et n'en rempliront pas leurs entrailles; car c'est là ce qui les a fait tomber dans l'iniquité.
20 For the beauty of their ornaments they turned into pride, And the images of their abominations and of their detestable things they made with it; Therefore will I make it to them as an unclean thing.
Des joyaux dont ils se paraient, ils faisaient leur orgueil; ils en fabriquaient leurs abominations, leurs idoles. C'est pourquoi je changerai tout cela en ordure,
21 And I will give it into the hands of strangers for a prey, And to the wicked of the earth for a spoil, And they shall pollute it.
et je le livrerai en pillage aux mains des étrangers, en proie aux impies de la terre, — et ils le souilleront.
22 And I will turn my face from them, So that my secret place shall be polluted; Robbers shall enter into it, and pollute it.
Je détournerai d'eux mon visage, et on souillera mon trésor; des hommes de violence y entreront et le souilleront.
23 Make a chain! For the land is full of blood-guiltiness, And the city is full of violence.
Prépare les chaînes; car le pays est rempli d'attentats, et la ville de violences.
24 Therefore will I bring the most cruel among the nations, And they shall possess your houses; I will also make the pride of the strong to cease, And their holy places shall be defiled.
Et je ferai venir les plus méchants d'entre les peuples, et ils s'empareront de leurs maisons, et ils mettront fin à l'orgueil des puissants; et leurs lieux saints seront profanés.
25 Destruction cometh; And they shall seek peace, and not find it.
La ruine vient; ils chercheront la paix, et il n'y en aura point.
26 Calamity shall come upon calamity, And rumor shall be upon rumor; And they shall seek a vision from the prophet in vain; Instruction shall perish from the priests, And counsel from the elders.
Il arrivera malheur sur malheur, et nouvelle sur nouvelle; et ils chercheront des visions auprès des prophètes, et la loi fera défaut au prêtre, et le conseil aux anciens.
27 The king shall mourn, And the prince shall be clothed with amazement; And the hands of the people of the land shall be troubled. I will do to them according to their way, and according to their deserts will I judge them, And they shall know that I am Jehovah.
Le roi sera dans le deuil, le prince se vêtira de tristesse, et les mains du peuple du pays trembleront. Je les traiterai d'après leurs œuvres, je les jugerai selon leurs mérites; et ils sauront que je suis Yahweh.
