Ezekiel 15

1 And the word of Jehovah came to me, saying:

Entonces la Palabra de Yavé vino a mí:

2 Son of man, what is the wood of the vine more than any wood, —a branch, that is among the trees of the forest?

Hijo de hombre: ¿Es la madera de la vid más que cualquiera otra madera de los árboles del bosque?

3 Shall wood be taken from it to be wrought into any work? Or will men take a pin of it to hang a vessel upon?

¿Sacan de ella madera para cualquier obra? ¿Sacan de ella estacas para colgar alguna cosa?

4 Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire devoureth both the ends of it, and the middle of it is burned. Is it then fit for any work?

Si la echan al fuego como combustible, el fuego le devora las puntas y el centro queda chamuscado, ¿es útil para cualquier cosa?

5 Behold, when it was whole, nothing could be made of it; how much less can anything be made of it when the fire hath devoured it and it is burned!

Ciertamente, si cuando está intacto no sirve para alguna obra, ¡cuánto menos después que el fuego lo queme y lo consuma!

6 Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: As the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so will I give to it the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Por tanto ʼAdonay Yavé dice: Como la madera de la vid entre los árboles del bosque, la cual eché al fuego como combustible, así entregué a los habitantes de Jerusalén.

7 And I will set my face against them; they shall go out from one fire, and another fire shall devour them; and ye shall know that I am Jehovah, when I set my face against them.

Pongo mi rostro contra ellos. Escaparon del fuego. Pero el fuego los consumirá. Y sabrán que Yo soy Yavé cuando ponga mi rostro contra ellos.

8 And I will make the land desolate, because they have grievously trespassed, saith the Lord Jehovah.

Así que convertiré la tierra en desolación, porque cometieron infidelidad, dice ʼAdonay Yavé.
