Ecclesiastes 3

1 For every thing there is a fixed period, and an appointed time to every thing under heaven: —

۱ برای هر چیز زمانی است و هر مطلبی رازیر آسمان وقتی است.

2 A time to be born, and a time to die. A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted.

۲ وقتی برای ولادت و وقتی برای موت. وقتی برای غرس نمودن و وقتی برای کندن مغروس.

3 A time to kill, and a time to heal. A time to breaking down, and a time to build up.

۳ وقتی برای قتل و وقتی برای شفا. وقتی برای منهدم ساختن ووقتی برای بنا نمودن.

4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh. A time to mourn, and a time to dance.

۴ وقتی برای گریه و وقتی برای خنده. وقتی برای ماتم و وقتی برای رقص.

5 A time to cast stones asunder, and a time to gather stones together. A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing.

۵ وقتی برای پراکنده ساختن سنگها و وقتی برای جمع ساختن سنگها. وقتی برای در آغوش کشیدن و وقتی برای اجتناب از در آغوش کشیدن.

6 A time to seek, and a time to lose. A time to keep, and a time to cast away.

۶ وقتی برای کسب و وقتی برای خسارت. وقتی برای نگاه داشتن و وقتی برای دورانداختن.

7 A time to rend, and a time to sew. A time to keep silence, and a time to speak.

۷ وقتی برای دریدن و وقتی برای دوختن. وقتی برای سکوت و وقتی برای گفتن.

8 A time to love, and a time to hate. A time of war, and a time of peace.—

۸ وقتی برای محبت و وقتی برای نفرت. وقتی برای جنگ و وقتی برای صلح.

9 What profit hath he who laboreth from that with which he wearieth himself?

۹ پس کارکننده را از زحمتی که می‌کشد چه منفعت است؟

10 I have seen the business which God hath given to the sons of men to exercise themselves therewith.

۱۰ مشقتی را که خدا به بنی آدم داده است تا در آن زحمت کشند، ملاحظه کردم.

11 God maketh every thing good in its time; but he hath put the world into the heart of man, so that he understandeth not the work which God doeth, from the beginning to the end.

۱۱ او هر چیز را در وقتش نیکو ساخته است و نیزابدیت را در دلهای ایشان نهاده، بطوری که انسان کاری را که خدا کرده است، از ابتدا تا انتها دریافت نتواند کرد.

12 I know that there is nothing better for a man than that he should rejoice and enjoy good his life long.

۱۲ پس فهمیدم که برای ایشان چیزی بهتر از این نیست که شادی کنند و در حیات خودبه نیکویی مشغول باشند.

13 But when a man eateth and drinketh, and enjoyeth good through all his labor, this is the gift of God.

۱۳ و نیز بخشش خدااست که هر آدمی بخورد و بنوشد و از تمامی زحمت خود نیکویی بیند.

14 I know that whatever God doeth, that shall be for ever. Nothing can be added to it, and nothing taken from it; and God doeth it that men may fear before him.

۱۴ و فهمیدم که هرآنچه خدا می‌کند تا ابدالاباد خواهد ماند، و بر آن چیزی نتوان افزود و از آن چیزی نتوان کاست وخدا آن را به عمل می‌آورد تا از او بترسند.

15 That which is, was long ago; and that which is to be, hath already been; and God recalleth that which is past.

۱۵ آنچه هست از قدیم بوده است و آنچه خواهدشد قدیم است و آنچه را که گذشته است خدامی طلبد.

16 Moreover, I saw under the sun that in the place of justice there was iniquity; and in the place of righteousness, iniquity.

۱۶ و نیز مکان انصاف را زیر آسمان دیدم که در آنجا ظلم است و مکان عدالت را که در آنجا بی‌انصافی است.

17 Then said I in my heart, “God will judge the righteous and the wicked.” For there shall be a time for every matter and for every work.

۱۷ و در دل خود گفتم که خدا عادل و ظالم را داوری خواهد نمود زیرا که برای هر امر و برای هر عمل در آنجا وقتی است.

18 I said in my heart concerning the sons of men, that God will prove them, in order that they may see that they are like the beasts.

۱۸ و درباره امور بنی آدم در دل خود گفتم: این واقع می‌شود تا خدا ایشان را بیازماید و تا خودایشان بفهمند که مثل بهایم می‌باشند.

19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts: one lot befalleth both. As the one dieth, so dieth the other. Yea, there is one spirit in them, and a man hath no pre-eminence above a beast; for all is vanity.

۱۹ زیرا که وقایع بنی آدم مثل وقایع بهایم است برای ایشان یک واقعه است؛ چنانکه این می‌میرد به همانطورآن نیز می‌میرد و برای همه یک نفس است و انسان بر بهایم برتری ندارد چونکه همه باطل هستند.

20 All go to one place; all are from the dust, and all turn to dust again.

۲۰ همه به یکجا می‌روند و همه از خاک هستند وهمه به خاک رجوع می‌نمایند.

21 Who knoweth the spirit of man, whether it goeth upward, and the spirit of a beast, whether it goeth downward to the earth?

۲۱ کیست روح انسان را بداند که به بالا صعود می‌کند یا روح بهایم را که پایین بسوی زمین نزول می‌نماید؟

22 And so I saw that there is nothing better than that a man should rejoice in his labors; for that is his portion. For who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?

۲۲ لهذا فهمیدم که برای انسان چیزی بهتر از این نیست که از اعمال خود مسرور شود، چونکه نصیبش همین است. و کیست که او را بازآورد تاآنچه را که بعد از او واقع خواهد شد مشاهده نماید؟
