Daniel 5

1 Belshazzar, the king gave a great feast to his thousands lords, and drank wine before the thousand.

۱ بلشصر پادشاه ضیافت عظیمی برای هزارنفر از امرای خود برپا داشت و در حضورآن هزار نفر شراب نوشید.

2 Belshazzar, while he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple at Jerusalem; that the king and his princes, his wives and his concubines, might drink therein.

۲ بلشصر در کیف شراب امر فرمود که ظروف طلا و نقره را که جدش نبوکدنصر از هیکل اورشلیم برده بودبیاورند تا پادشاه و امرایش و زوجه‌ها ومتعه هایش از آنها بنوشند.

3 Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God at Jerusalem; and the king and his princes, his wives and his concubines, drank in them.

۳ آنگاه ظروف طلا راکه از هیکل خانه خدا که در اورشلیم است گرفته شده بود آوردند و پادشاه و امرایش و زوجه‌ها ومتعه هایش از آنها نوشیدند.

4 They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.

۴ شراب می‌نوشیدندو خدایان طلا و نقره و برنج و آهن و چوب وسنگ را تسبیح می‌خواندند.

5 In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the chandelier upon the plaster of the wall of the king's palace; and the king saw the hand that wrote.

۵ در همان ساعت انگشتهای دست انسانی بیرون آمد و در برابر شمعدان بر گچ دیوار قصرپادشاه نوشت و پادشاه کف دست را که می‌نوشت دید.

6 Then the king's countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosened, and his knees smote one against the other.

۶ آنگاه هیئت پادشاه متغیر شد و فکرهایش او را مضطرب ساخت و بندهای کمرش سست شده، زانوهایش بهم می‌خورد.

7 The king cried aloud to bring in the magicians, the Chaldaeans, and the astrologers. And the king spake and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whoever shall read this writing, and show me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall rule as the third in the kingdom.

۷ پادشاه به آوازبلند صدا زد که جادوگران و کلدانیان و منجمان رااحضار نمایند. پس پادشاه حکیمان بابل راخطاب کرده، گفت: «هر‌که این نوشته را بخواند وتفسیرش را برای من بیان نماید به ارغوان ملبس خواهد شد و طوق زرین بر گردنش (نهاده خواهدشد) و حاکم سوم در مملکت خواهد بود.»

8 Then all the king's wise men came in; but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king its signification.

۸ آنگاه جمیع حکمای پادشاه داخل شدند امانتوانستند نوشته را بخوانند یا تفسیرش را برای پادشاه بیان نمایند.

9 Then was King Belshazzar in great consternation, and his countenance was changed, and his lords were amazed.

۹ پس بلشصر پادشاه، بسیارمضطرب شد و هیئتش در او متغیر گردید و امرایش مضطرب شدند.

10 Then the queen, on account of this affair of the king and his lords, came into the banquet-house; and the queen spake and said, O king, live forever! Let not thy thoughts terrify thee, nor let thy countenance be changed.

۱۰ اما ملکه به‌سبب سخنان پادشاه و امرایش به مهمانخانه درآمد وملکه متکلم شده، گفت: «ای پادشاه تا به ابد زنده باش! فکرهایت تو را مضطرب نسازد و هیئت تومتغیر نشود.

11 There is a man in thy kingdom in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father, light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, were found in him; and the king Nebuchadnezzar, thy father, made him chief of the scribes, the magicians, the Chaldeans, and the astrologers, thy father, O king!

۱۱ شخصی در مملکت تو هست که روح خدایان قدوس دارد و در ایام پدرت روشنایی و فطانت و حکمت مثل حکمت خدایان دراو پیدا شد و پدرت نبوکدنصر پادشاه یعنی پدر تو‌ای پادشاه او را رئیس مجوسیان وجادوگران و کلدانیان و منجمان ساخت.

12 forasmuch as an excellent spirit and knowledge and understanding to interpret dreams, and to explain hard sentences, and solve difficult questions were found in him, in Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar; now let Daniel be called, and he will show the interpretation.

۱۲ چونکه روح فاضل و معرفت و فطانت و تعبیرخوابها و حل معماها و گشودن عقده‌ها در این دانیال که پادشاه او را به بلطشصر مسمی نمودیافت شد. پس حال دانیال طلبیده شود و تفسیر رابیان خواهد نمود.»

13 Then was Daniel brought in before the king. And the king spake and said to Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, of the captives of Judah, whom the king, my father, brought out of Judaea?

۱۳ آنگاه دانیال را به حضور پادشاه آوردند وپادشاه دانیال را خطاب کرده، فرمود: «آیا توهمان دانیال از اسیران یهود هستی که پدرم پادشاه از یهودا آورد؟

14 I have heard concerning thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom are found in thee.

۱۴ و درباره تو شنیده‌ام که روح خدایان در تو است و روشنایی و فطانت وحکمت فاضل در تو پیدا شده است.

15 And now the wise men and the magicians have been brought in before me, that they might read this writing, and make known to me its signification; but they could not show the signification of the thing.

۱۵ و الان حکیمان و منجمان را به حضور من آوردند تا این نوشته را بخوانند و تفسیرش را برای من بیان کننداما نتوانستند تفسیر کلام را بیان کنند.

16 But I have heard of thee that thou canst give interpretations, and solve difficult questions. Now if thou canst read the writing and make known to me its signification, thou shalt be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt rule as the third in the kingdom.

۱۶ و من درباره تو شنیده‌ام که به نمودن تعبیرها و گشودن عقده‌ها قادر می‌باشی. پس اگر بتوانی الان نوشته را بخوانی و تفسیرش را برای من بیان کنی به ارغوان ملبس خواهی شد و طوق زرین بر گردنت (نهاده خواهد شد) و در مملکت حاکم سوم خواهی بود.»

17 Then answered Daniel and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another: yet I will read the writing to the king, and make known to him the signification.

۱۷ پس دانیال به حضور پادشاه جواب داد وگفت: «عطایای تو از آن تو باشد و انعام خود را به دیگری بده، لکن نوشته را برای پادشاه خواهم خواند و تفسیرش را برای او بیان خواهم نمود.

18 O king, the Most High God gave to Nebuchadnezzar, thy father, a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honor.

۱۸ اما تو‌ای پادشاه، خدای تعالی به پدرت نبوکدنصر سلطنت و عظمت و جلال و حشمت عطا فرمود.

19 And by reason of the majesty which he gave him, all people, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him; whom he would he slew, and whom he would he kept alive; whom he would he set up, and whom he would he put down.

۱۹ و به‌سبب عظمتی که به او داده بودجمیع قومها و امت‌ها و زبانها از او لرزان و ترسان می‌بودند. هر‌که را می‌خواست می‌کشت و هر‌که را می‌خواست زنده نگاه می‌داشت و هر‌که رامی خواست بلند می‌نمود و هر‌که را می‌خواست پست می‌ساخت.

20 But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit hardened in pride, he was thrust down from his kingly throne, and his glory was taken from him.

۲۰ لیکن چون دلش مغرور وروحش سخت گردیده، تکبر نمود آنگاه ازکرسی سلطنت خویش به زیر افکنده شد وحشمت او را از او گرفتند.

21 And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart became like the beasts, and his dwelling was with wild asses; he was fed with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the Most High God ruled in the kingdoms of men, and set up over them whomsoever he would.

۲۱ و از میان بنی آدم رانده شده، دلش مثل دل حیوانات گردید ومسکنش با گورخران شده، او را مثل گاوان علف می‌خورانیدند و جسدش از شبنم آسمان ترمی شد تا فهمید که خدای تعالی بر ممالک آدمیان حکمرانی می‌کند و هر‌که را می‌خواهد بر آن نصب می‌نماید.

22 And thou, his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thy heart, though thou knewest all this;

۲۲ و تو‌ای پسرش بلشصر! اگرچه این همه را دانستی لکن دل خود را متواضع ننمودی.

23 but hast lifted thyself up against the Lord of heaven; and the vessels of his house have been brought before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know; and the God in whose hand is thy breath, and whose are all thy ways, thou hast not honored.

۲۳ بلکه خویشتن را به ضد خداوندآسمانها بلند ساختی و ظروف خانه او را به حضور تو آوردند و تو و امرایت و زوجه‌ها ومتعه هایت از آنها شراب نوشیدید و خدایان نقره و طلا و برنج و آهن و چوب و سنگ را که نمی بینند و نمی شنوند و (هیچ ) نمی دانند تسبیح خواندی، اما آن خدایی را که روانت در دست او وتمامی راههایت از او می‌باشد، تمجید ننمودی.

24 Then was sent from him the hand, and this writing was written.

۲۴ پس این کف دست از جانب او فرستاده شد واین نوشته مکتوب گردید.

25 And this is the writing which was written: Numbered, Numbered, Weighed, and To be Divided.

۲۵ و این نوشته‌ای که مکتوب شده است این است: منامنا ثقیل و فرسین.

26 And this is the interpretation of it. Numbered: God hath numbered thy kingdom, and made an end of it.

۲۶ و تفسیر کلام این است: منا؛ خدا سلطنت تو را شمرده و آن را به انتها رسانیده است.

27 Weighed: Thou art weighed in the balances, and found wanting.

۲۷ ثقیل؛ درمیزان سنجیده شده و ناقص درآمده‌ای.

28 Divided: Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

۲۸ فرس؛ سلطنت تو تقسیم گشته و به مادیان و فارسیان بخشیده شده است.»

29 Then Belshazzar commanded, and they clothed Daniel with purple, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him that he should be third ruler in the kingdom.

۲۹ آنگاه بلشصر امر فرمود تا دانیال را به ارغوان ملبس ساختند و طوق زرین بر گردنش (نهادند) و درباره‌اش ندا کردند که در مملکت حاکم سوم می‌باشد.

30 In the same night was Belshazzar, the king of the Chaldaeans, slain;

۳۰ در همان شب بلشصرپادشاه کلدانیان کشته شد.

31 and Darius the Mede took the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old.

۳۱ و داریوش مادی در حالی که شصت و دوساله بود سلطنت را یافت.
