Amos 1
1 The words of Amos, one of the shepherds of Tekoa, which he prophesied concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam, the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earth quake. He said: —
Haya ni mambo yanayoihusu Israeli ambayo Amosi, mmoja wa wachungaji katika Tekoa, aliyapokea katika ufunuo. Alipokea haya mambo katika siku za Uzia mfalme wa Yuda, na pia katika siku za Yeroboamu mwana wa Yoashi mfalme wa Israeli, miaka miwili kabla ya tetemeko la aridhi.
2 Jehovah will roar from Zion, And utter his voice from Jerusalem; The habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, And the top of Carmel shall wither.
Alisema, “Yahwe atanguruma kutoka Sayuni; atainua sauti yake kutoka Yerusalemu. Malisho ya wachungaji yatanyamaza kimya; kilele cha Karmeli kitanyauka.”
3 Thus saith Jehovah; For three transgressions of Damascus, And for four, will I not turn away its punishment; For they thrashed Gilead with thrashing-wains of iron.
Hivi ndivyo Yahwe asemavyo: “Kwa dhambi tatu za Damaskasi, hata kwa nne, sintobadilisha adhabu, kwa sababu wameipura Gileadi kwa vyombo vya chuma.
4 I will send a fire upon the house of Hazael, Which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.
Nitapeleka moto kwenye nyumba ya Hazaeli, na utaiteketeza ngome za Ben Hadadi.
5 I will also break the bar of Damascus, And I will destroy the inhabitant from the valley of Aven, And him that holdeth the sceptre from Beth-Eden, And the people of Syria shall be led captive to Kir: Jehovah hath said it.
Nitazivunja komeo za Damaskasi na kumkatilia mbali mtu ambaye aishiye katika Biqati Aveni, na pia yule mtu ashikaye fimbo ya kifalme katika Beth Edeni. Na watu wa shamu watakwenda utumwani hata Kiri,” asema Yahwe.
6 Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Gaza, And for four, I will not turn away its punishment; For they led captive all that fell into their hands, And delivered them up to Edom.
Hivi ndivyo Yahwe asemavyo: “Kwa dhambi tatu za Gaza, hata nne, sintobadilisha adhabu, kwa sababu waliwachukua mateka watu wote, kuwaweka juu ya mkono wa Edomu.
7 But I will send a fire upon the wall of Gaza, Which shall devour her palaces.
Nitatuma moto kwenye kuta za Gaza, na kuziteketeza ngome zake.
8 And I will destroy the inhabitant from Ashdod, And him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon; And I will turn my hand against Ekron, And the residue of the Philistines shall perish. The Lord, Jehovah, hath said it.
Nitamkatilia mbali yule mtu aishiye katika Ashdodi na mtu ashikaye fimbo ya kifalme kutoka Ashkeloni. Nitaugeuza mkono wangu dhidi ya Ekroni, na mabaki ya Wafilisti wataangamia,” asema Bwana Yahwe.
9 Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Tyre, And for four, will I not turn away its punishment; Because they delivered up all their captives to Edom, And remembered not the brotherly covenant.
Hivi ndivyo Yhawe asemavyo: “Kwa dhambi tatu za Tiro, hata kwa nne, sintobadili adhabu, kwa sababu waliwapelekea watu wote wa Edomu, na wamevunja agano lao la undugu.
10 But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyre, Which shall devour her palaces.
Nitapeleka moto kwenye kuta za Tiro, nao utaziteketeza ngome zake.”
11 Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Edom, And for four, will I not turn away his punishment; For he pursued his brother with the sword, And cast off all pity, And his anger tore perpetually; Yea, he kept his wrath forever.
Hivi ndivyo Yahwe asemavyo, “Kwa dhambi tatu za Edomu, hata kwa nne, sintobadilisha adhabu, kwa sababu alimfuatilia ndugu yake kwa upanga na kutupilia mbali huruma zote. Hasira yake ikaendelea kuwa kali, na ghadhabu yake ikabaki milele.
12 But I will send a fire upon Teman. Which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
Nitapeleka moto juu ya Temani, na utaziteketeza nyumb a za kifalme za Bozra.”
13 Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, And for four, will I not turn away their punishment; For they ripped up the women with child of Gilead, That they might enlarge their border.
Hivi ndivyo Yahwe asemavyo, “Kwa dhambi tatu za watu wa Amoni, hata kwa nne, sintobadilisha adhabu, kwa sababu wamewapasua wanawake wa Gileadi wenye mimba, ili waweze kupanua mipaka yao.
14 But I will kindle a fire on the wall of Rabbah, Which shall devour her palaces, Amid the war-shout in the day of battle, In a whirlwind in the day of the storm.
Nitawasha moto katika kuta za Raba, nao utaziteketeza nyumba za kifalme, pamoja na kupiga kelele katika siku ya vita, pamoja na dhoruba katika siku ya kimbunga.
15 Their king shall go into captivity, He and his princes together, saith Jehovah.
Mfalme wao ataenda utumwani, yeye na maafisa wake pamoja,” asema Yahwe.
