Amos 6
1 Woe to them that dwell at ease in Zion; That feel secure upon the mountain of Samaria; The honorable men of the chief of the nations, To whom the house of Israel resort!
ধিক্ তোমাদের, যারা সিয়োনে আত্মতৃপ্ত বসে আছ, ধিক্ তোমাদেরও, যারা শমরিয়া পর্বতে নিজেদের নিরাপদ মনে করছ, যারা অগ্রগণ্য জাতির বিশিষ্ট লোক, যাদের কাছে ইস্রায়েল জাতি শরণাপন্ন হয়েছে!
2 Pass over to Calneh, and see; And thence go to great Hamath; Then go down to Gath of the Philistines: Are they better than these kingdoms, Or is their border greater than your border?
তোমরা কল্নীতে যাও ও তার প্রতি দৃষ্টিপাত করো, সেখান থেকে তোমরা বড়ো হমাতে যাও, তারপরে ফিলিস্তিয়ার গাতে নেমে যাও। তোমাদের দুই রাজ্য থেকে তারা কি উৎকৃষ্ট? তাদের দেশ কি তোমাদের থেকে বৃহত্তর?
3 Woe to them, that put far away the day of evil, And bring near the seat of oppression;
তোমরা অন্যায়ের দিনকে ত্যাগ করে থাকো, অথচ এক সন্ত্রাসের রাজত্বকে কাছে নিয়ে আস।
4 That lie upon beds of ivory, And stretch themselves upon their couches; That eat lambs from the flock, And calves from the stall;
তোমরা হাতির দাঁতে তৈরি বিছানায় শুয়ে থাকো ও নিজের নিজের পালঙ্কে শরীর এলিয়ে দাও। তোমাদের পছন্দমতো মেষশাবক ও নধর বাছুর দিয়ে তোমার আহার সেরে থাকো।
5 That chant to the sound of the harp, And invent for themselves instruments of music, like David;
তোমরা মনে করো দাউদের মতো, অথচ এলোপাথাড়ি বীণা বাজাও, বিভিন্ন বাদ্যযন্ত্রে তাৎক্ষণিক গীত রচনা করো।
6 That drink wine in bowls, And anoint themselves with the most precious perfumes, But grieve not for the destruction of Joseph!
তোমরা বড়ো বড়ো পাত্রে ভরা দ্রাক্ষারস পান করো, উৎকৃষ্ট তেল গায়ে মাখো, কিন্তু তোমরা যোষেফের দুর্দশায় দুঃখার্ত হও না।
7 Therefore now shall they go captive at the head of the captives; Yea, the shouting of them that stretch themselves upon their couches shall cease.
সেই কারণে, তোমরাই সর্বপ্রথমে নির্বাসিত হবে, তোমাদের ভোজপর্ব ও আলস্য শয়নের পরিসমাপ্তি ঘটবে।
8 The Lord Jehovah hath sworn by himself, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of hosts: I abhor the pride of Jacob, And I hate his palaces; I will give up the city, and all that is therein.
সার্বভৌম সদাপ্রভু শপথ করেছেন—সর্বশক্তিমান ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন: “আমি যাকোবের অহংকার ঘৃণা ও তার দুর্গগুলিকে প্রচণ্ড ঘৃণা করি; এই কারণে আমি নগর ও তার মধ্যে স্থিত সমস্ত কিছু পরের হাতে সমর্পণ করব।”
9 And if ten men remain in one house, These also shall die.
যদি কোনো গৃহে দশজন মানুষও অবশিষ্ট থাকে, তারাও মারা যাবে।
10 A man's relative, or a burner of the dead, shall take him up, To carry his bones out of the house, And he shall say to him that is in the innermost part of the house, Is there yet any one with thee? And he shall answer, No one! Then shall he say, Keep silence! For we may not make mention of the name of Jehovah.
আর শবদাহকারী কোনো আত্মীয় তাদের গৃহ থেকে বের করে নিয়ে যাওয়ার জন্য আসে এবং সেখানে অবশিষ্ট তখনও লুকিয়ে থাকা কোনো ব্যক্তিকে জিজ্ঞাসা করে, “তোমার সঙ্গে আরও কেউ কি আছে?” সে বলবে, “না নেই।” তখন সে বলবে, “চুপ করো! আমরা সদাপ্রভুর নাম আদৌ উল্লেখ করব না।”
11 For behold Jehovah hath commanded, And he will smite the great house with breaches, And the small house with clefts.
কারণ সদাপ্রভু এই আদেশ দিয়েছেন, তিনি বৃহৎ গৃহকে খণ্ডবিখণ্ড ও ক্ষুদ্র গৃহকে টুকরো টুকরো করবেন।
12 Shall horses run upon rocks, Or will one plough rocks with oxen, That ye change justice into hemlock, And the fruit of equity into wormwood,
ঘোড়ারা কি খাড়া পাহাড়ে দৌড়ায়? লাঙল দিয়ে কি কেউ সমুদ্রে চাষ করে? কিন্তু তোমরা ন্যায়বিচারকে বিষবৃক্ষে ও ধার্মিকতার ফলকে তিক্ততায় পরিণত করেছ।
13 Ye that rejoice in a thing of naught, And say, Have we not acquired dominion by our own strength?
তোমরা করেছ, যারা লো-দবারের বিজয়ে উল্লসিত হয়েছ ও বলেছ, “আমরা কি নিজের শক্তিতে কর্ণয়িম দখল করিনি?”
14 Behold, O house of Israel, saith Jehovah, the God of hosts, I will raise against you a nation, That shall oppress you from Hamath Even to the brook of the desert.
কারণ সর্বশক্তিমান ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু ঘোষণা করেন, “ওহে ইস্রায়েলের কুল, আমি তোমাদের বিরুদ্ধে এক জাতিকে উত্তেজিত করব, তারা লেবো-হমাৎ থেকে অরাবা উপত্যকা পর্যন্ত সমস্ত পথে তোমাদের প্রতি অত্যাচার করবে।”
