Acts 1
1 The former narrative I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus both did and taught from the beginning
Hemos hablado primero, oh Téofilo, de todas las cosas que Jesús comenzó a hacer, y a enseñar,
2 until the day in which, after he had through the Holy Spirit given commandments to the apostles whom he had chosen, he was taken up;
Hasta el día en que, después de haber dado mandamientos por el Espíritu Santo a los apóstoles que escogió, fue recibido arriba:
3 to whom also he showed himself living, after he had suffered, by many sure proofs, appearing to them during forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.
A los cuales, después de haber padecido, se mostró también vivo con muchas pruebas infalibles, apareciéndoseles por cuarenta días, y hablándoles del reino de Dios.
4 And while in assembly with them, he commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for what had been promised by the Father, which [[said he]] ye heard from me;
Y juntándolos, les mandó, que no se fuesen de Jerusalem, mas que esperasen la promesa del Padre, que oísteis, dice, de mí.
5 for John indeed baptized with water, but ye will be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days hence.
Porque Juan a la verdad bautizó con agua, mas vosotros seréis bautizados con el Espíritu Santo no muchos días después de estos.
6 They therefore, having come together, asked him, saying, Lord, art thou at this time about to restore the kingdom to Israel?
Entonces los que se habían juntado le preguntaron, diciendo: ¿Señor, restituirás el reino a Israel en este tiempo?
7 But he said to them, It belongeth not to you to know times or seasons, which the Father appointed by his own authority.
Y les dijo: No es vuestro saber los tiempos, o las sazones que el Padre puso en su sola potestad;
8 But ye will receive power when the Holy Spirit hath come upon you; and ye will be my witnesses, both in Jerusalem and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
Mas recibiréis la virtud del Espíritu Santo que vendrá sobre vosotros, y me seréis testigos en Jerusalem, y en toda Judea, y Samaria, y hasta lo último de la tierra.
9 And having thus spoken, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
Y habiendo dicho estas cosas, mirándo le ellos, fue alzado, y una nube le recibió, y le quitó de sus ojos.
10 And while they were looking earnestly into heaven as he went up, lo! two men stood by them in white apparel,
Y estando ellos con los ojos puestos en el cielo entre tanto que él iba, he aquí, dos varones se pusieron junto a ellos en vestidos blancos;
11 who said, Men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This Jesus, who hath been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same manner in which ye beheld him going into heaven.
Los cuales también les dijeron: Varones Galileos, ¿qué estáis mirando al cielo? este mismo Jesús que ha sido tomado arriba de vosotros al cielo, así vendrá, como le habéis visto ir al cielo.
12 Then they returned to Jerusalem, from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, within a sabbath-day's journey.
Entonces se volvieron a Jerusalem del monte que se llama el Olivar, el cual está cerca de Jerusalem, camino de un sábado.
13 And when they had come in, they went up into the upper room where they were making their abode, namely, Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon the zealot, and Judas the brother of James.
Y entrados, subieron al cenadero, donde estaban Pedro y Santiago, y Juan y Andrés, Felipe y Tomás, Bartolomé y Mateo, Santiago, hijo de Alfeo, y Simón el Zelador, y Júdas, hermano de Santiago.
14 These all continued with one accord in prayer, with women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.
Todos éstos perseveraban unánimes en oración y ruego con las mujeres, y con María la madre de Jesús, y con sus hermanos.
15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the brethren, and said, (the number of the names together was about one hundred and twenty, )
Y en aquellos días Pedro, levantándose en medio de los discípulos, dijo: (el número de nombres de los que estaban juntos era como de ciento y veinte: )
16 Brethren, it was necessary that this scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit through the mouth of David spoke before concerning Judas, who became guide to those who took Jesus.
Varones y hermanos, era menester que se cumpliese esta Escritura, la cual dijo antes el Espíritu Santo por la boca de David, de Júdas, que fue el guía de los que prendieron a Jesús,
17 For he was numbered among us, and obtained the allotment of this ministry.
El cual era contado con nosotros, y tenía parte de este ministerio.
18 Now this man purchased a field with the wages of the iniquity; and falling headlong he burst asunder in the middle, and all his bowels gushed out.
Este pues adquirió un campo con el salario de su iniquidad, y colgándose reventó por medio, y todas sus entrañas se derramaron.
19 And it became known to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that that field is called in their own tongue, Aceldamach, that is, Field of Blood.
Y esto fue notorio a todos los moradores de Jerusalem, de tal manera que aquel campo sea llamado en su propia lengua Aceldama, esto es: Campo de sangre.
20 For it is written in the book of Psalms, “Let his habitation be made desolate, and let no one dwell therein;” and, “Let another take his office.”
Porque está escrito en el libro de los Salmos: Sea hecha desierta su habitación, y no haya quien more en ella: y, Tome otro su obispado.
21 Of these men, therefore, who accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
Conviene, pues, que de estos varones, que han estado juntos con nosotros todo el tiempo que el Señor Jesús entró y salió entre nosotros,
22 from the baptism of John until the day when he was taken up from us, must one be made a witness with us of his resurrection.
Comenzando desde el bautismo de Juan, hasta el día que fue tomado arriba de entre nosotros, uno sea hecho testigo con nosotros de su resurrección.
23 And they proposed two, Joseph called Barsabbas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.
Y señalaron a dos, a José, que se llama Barsabás, que tenía por sobrenombre Justo, y a Matías.
24 And they prayed saying, Thou, Lord, who knowest the hearts of all men, show which of these two thou hast chosen
Y orando, dijeron: Tú, Señor, que conoces los corazones de todos, muestra cual has escogido de estos dos,
25 to take the part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell away, that he might go to his own place.
Para que tome parte de este ministerio, y apostolado, del cual cayó por prevaricación Júdas, para irse a su propio lugar.
26 And they cast lots for them; and the lot fell upon Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
Y les echaron las suertes; y cayó la suerte sobre Matías; y fue contado con los once apóstoles.
