Acts 9
1 But Saul, yet breathing out threatening and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest,
Савл, ще дихаючи погрозою вбивства та злобою на учнів Господа, пішов до первосвященника
2 and asked of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any who were of this way of belief, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
та попросив у нього листи до синагог Дамаска, щоб він міг арештовувати й приводити до Єрусалима послідовників Шляху, як чоловіків, так і жінок.
3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus; and suddenly there shone around a him a light from heaven;
Коли він вже наближався до Дамаска, раптом засяяло світло з неба навколо нього.
4 and he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying to him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
Він упав на землю й почув голос: ―Савле! Савле! Чому ти переслідуєш Мене?
5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And he answered, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.
Він спитав: ―Хто Ти, Господи? Ісус відповів: ―Я Ісус, Якого ти переслідуєш. Тяжко тобі бити ногою колючку!
6 But arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.
Налякавшись, він із трепетом сказав: ―Господи, що хочеш, щоб я робив? Господь сказав: ―Підведися та йди до міста, і там скажуть тобі, що треба робити.
7 And the men that journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing the voice, but seeing no one.
Люди, які подорожували разом із ним, стояли онімілі: вони чули голос, але нікого не бачили.
8 And Saul arose from the earth; but when his eyes were opened, he saw nothing; and they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.
Савл підвівся із землі, і хоча очі були розплющені, нічого не бачив. Тому його взяли за руки й привели в Дамаск.
9 And he was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank.
Три дні він нічого не бачив, не їв і не пив.
10 And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias, and to him the Lord said in a vision, Ananias! And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.
У Дамаску був учень, на ім’я Ананія. Господь сказав йому у видінні: ―Ананіє! Він відповів: ―Так, Господи!
11 And the Lord said to him, Arise, and go into the street called Straight, and inquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus; for lo! he prayeth,
Господь сказав йому: ―Встань та йди на вулицю, яка зветься Прямою, і в домі Юди запитай чоловіка з Тарса, на ім’я Савл. Бо ось він зараз молиться
12 and hath seen a man, named Ananias, coming in and putting his hand on him, that he might receive sight.
й у видінні побачив чоловіка, на ім’я Ананія, що увійшов та поклав на нього руки, щоб він знову міг бачити.
13 But Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how great evils he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem.
Ананія відповів: ―Господи, я від багатьох людей чув про цього чоловіка, як багато лиха він заподіяв Твоїм святим у Єрусалимі.
14 And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.
І сюди він прийшов, отримавши повноваження від первосвященників, заарештовувати всіх, хто призиває Твоє ім’я.
15 But the Lord said to him, Go; for this man is to me a chosen vessel, to bear my name before nations, and kings, and the sons of Israel.
Але Господь сказав йому: ―Іди, бо цей чоловік – знаряддя, обране Мною для того, щоб звістити Моє ім’я язичникам, царям та синам Ізраїлю.
16 For I myself will show him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.
Я покажу йому, скільки він має вистраждати за Моє ім’я.
17 And Ananias went away, and entered the house; and putting his hands on him, he said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus who appeared to thee in the way thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mayst receive sight, and be filled with the Holy Spirit.
Ананія пішов, зайшов у дім і, поклавши руки на Савла, сказав: «Брате Савле, Господь Ісус, Який з’явився тобі дорогою сюди, надіслав мене до тебе, щоб ти знову міг бачити та був наповнений Святим Духом».
18 And immediately there fell off from his eyes as it were scales; and he received sight, and arose, and was baptized.
І вмить немовби луска впала з його очей, він знову міг бачити й, піднявшись, був охрещений.
19 And having taken some food he was strengthened. And he was some days with the disciples in Damascus.
Потім він поїв, і до нього повернулися сили. [Савл] залишився кілька днів разом з учнями в Дамаску
20 And immediately he preached Jesus in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.
й одразу почав проповідувати в синагогах, що Ісус – Син Божий.
21 And all that heard him were amazed, and said, Is not this he that destroyed in Jerusalem those who called on this name? And he hath come hither for this purpose, that he may bring them bound to the chief priests.
Усі, хто його чув, здивовано казали: «Хіба це не той, хто знищував у Єрусалимі тих, що призивали це ім’я, і сюди він прийшов, щоб їх зв’язати та привести до первосвященників?»
22 But Saul gained still more strength, and confounded the Jews who dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is the Christ.
А Савл усе більше зміцнювався й бентежив юдеїв, що жили в Дамаску, доводячи, що Ісус є Христос.
23 But after many days had passed, the Jews took counsel together to kill him;
Коли минуло багато днів, юдеї змовилися вбити його.
24 but their plot became known to Saul; and they were even watching the gates day and night to kill him.
Однак Савл дізнався про цю змову. Вони вдень та вночі стежили за воротами, щоб убити його.
25 But his disciples took him by night, and let him down through the wall, lowering him in a basket.
Але учні, узявши його, вночі спустили в кошику по стіні.
26 And when he had come to Jerusalem, he attempted to join himself to the disciples; and they were all afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.
Коли [Савл] прибув до Єрусалима, то намагався приєднатися до учнів, але вони боялися й не вірили, що він теж учень.
27 But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and related to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that he had spoken to him, and hew he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.
Тоді Варнава взяв його, привів до апостолів та розповів їм, як у дорозі Савл побачив Господа, і як Він говорив до нього, і як у Дамаску він сміливо проповідував в ім’я Ісуса.
28 And he was with them going in and out at Jerusalem,
І Савл залишився з ними, вільно виходячи та входячи в Єрусалим. Він сміливо проповідував в ім’я Господа,
29 speaking boldly in the name of the Lord. And he often spoke and disputed with the Hellenists; but they were endeavoring to slay him.
говорив та сперечався з грекомовними юдеями, і вони намагалися вбити його.
30 But the brethren obtaining knowledge of it, brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus.
Коли брати довідалися про це, то вивели його до Кесарії, а потім доправили до Тарса.
31 The church therefore throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria had peace, being built up, and walking in the fear of the Lord; and by the exhortation of the Holy Spirit it was greatly increased.
Церква у всій Юдеї, Галілеї та Самарії мала спокій, зміцнювалась, ходила в страху Господньому й, отримуючи втіху Святого Духа, зростала.
32 And it came to pass, that as Peter went through the whole country, he came down also to the saints who dwelt at Lydda.
Петро, проходячи через усі [міста], прийшов до святих, які мешкали в Лідді.
33 And there he found a certain man named AEneas, who had lain on a bed eight years, and was palsied.
Там знайшов чоловіка, на ім’я Еней, який уже вісім років лежав у ліжку, адже був паралізований.
34 And Peter said to him, AEneas, Jesus the Christ healeth thee; arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.
Петро промовив до нього: «Енею, Ісус Христос зцілює тебе, підведись і збери своє ліжко». І вмить той піднявся.
35 And all that dwelt in Lydda and Sharon saw him; and they turned to the Lord.
Усі жителі Лідди та Сарона, які побачили його, навернулися до Господа.
36 Now at Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which name being interpreted is the same as Dorcas, that is, Gazelle. This woman was full of good works and alms-deeds which she did.
У Яффі була одна учениця, на ім’я Тавіта (що перекладається як «сарна»). Її [життя] завжди було повне добрих вчинків та милостинь, які вона робила.
37 And it came to pass in those days, that she fell sick, and died; and when they had washed her, they laid her in an upper chamber.
Саме в той час вона захворіла й померла. Її обмили та поклали у верхню кімнату.
38 And as Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, having heard that Peter was there, sent to him two men with the entreaty, Do not delay to come to us.
Оскільки Лідда знаходиться близько до Яффи, учні, почувши, що Петро знаходиться там, надіслали до нього двох чоловіків просити його: «Прийди до нас скоріше!»
39 Then Peter arose, and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber; and all the widows came to him weeping, and showing the coats and cloaks which Dorcas made while she was with them.
Петро пішов разом із ними й, коли прийшов, його повели у верхню кімнату. Усі вдови зібралися біля нього, вони плакали й показували сорочки та іншу одежу, яку Тавіта робила, коли була разом із ними.
40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down and prayed; and turning to the body he said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes; and seeing Peter, she sat up.
Петро вивів усіх із кімнати, став на коліна та помолився. Потім, повернувшись до тіла померлої, сказав: «Тавіто, встань!» Вона розплющила очі й, побачивши Петра, сіла.
41 And he gave her his hand, and raised her up; and calling the saints and the widows, he presented her alive.
Він, узявши її за руку, допоміг їй піднятися. Потім, покликавши святих та вдів, представив її живою.
42 And it became known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord.
Про це стало відомо у всій Яффі, і багато [людей] увірувало в Господа.
43 And it came to pass, that he tarried many days in Joppa with one Simon, a tanner.
Петро ж перебував у Яффі ще багато днів у Симона, який обробляв шкіру.
