Acts 9
1 But Saul, yet breathing out threatening and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest,
Y Saulo aun resoplando amenazas y muerte contra los discípulos del Señor, vino al sumo sacerdote,
2 and asked of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any who were of this way of belief, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
Y demandó de él cartas para Damasco a las sinagogas, para que si hallase algunos de este camino, varones o mujeres, los trajese presos a Jerusalem.
3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus; and suddenly there shone around a him a light from heaven;
Y yendo por el camino, aconteció que llegó cerca de Damasco, y súbitamente le cercó un resplandor de luz del cielo.
4 and he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying to him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
Y cayendo en tierra, oyó una voz que le decía: Saulo, Saulo, ¿por qué me persigues?
5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And he answered, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.
Y él dijo: ¿Quién eres, Señor? Y el Señor dijo: Yo soy Jesús a quien tú persigues: dura cosa te es dar coces contra el aguijón.
6 But arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.
Y él temblando y asombrado, dijo: Señor, ¿qué quieres que yo haga? Y el Señor le dijo: Levántate, y entra en la ciudad; y te se dirá lo que debes hacer.
7 And the men that journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing the voice, but seeing no one.
Y los varones que iban con él, se pararon atónitos, oyendo a la verdad la voz, mas no viendo a nadie.
8 And Saul arose from the earth; but when his eyes were opened, he saw nothing; and they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.
Entonces Saulo se levantó de tierra, y abriendo los ojos no veía a nadie; mas llevándole por la mano, le metieron en Damasco.
9 And he was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank.
Y estuvo tres días sin ver; y no comió, ni bebió.
10 And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias, and to him the Lord said in a vision, Ananias! And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.
Y había un discípulo en Damasco, llamado Ananías, al cual el Señor dijo en visión: Ananías. Y él respondió: He aquí estoy, Señor.
11 And the Lord said to him, Arise, and go into the street called Straight, and inquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus; for lo! he prayeth,
Y el Señor le dijo: Levántate, y vé a la calle, que se llama la Derecha, y busca en casa de Júdas a Saulo, llamado el de Tarso; porque, he aquí, él ora:
12 and hath seen a man, named Ananias, coming in and putting his hand on him, that he might receive sight.
Y ha visto en visión a un varón llamado Ananías, que entra, y le pone la mano encima para que reciba la vista.
13 But Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how great evils he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem.
Entonces Ananías respondió: Señor, he oído decir a muchos de este varón, cuantos males ha hecho a tus santos en Jerusalem;
14 And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.
Y aun aquí tiene facultad de los príncipes de los sacerdotes para atar a todos los que invocan tu nombre.
15 But the Lord said to him, Go; for this man is to me a chosen vessel, to bear my name before nations, and kings, and the sons of Israel.
Y le dijo el Señor: Vé; porque vaso escogido me es éste, para que lleve mi nombre en presencia de los Gentiles, y de reyes, y de los hijos de Israel.
16 For I myself will show him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.
Porque yo le mostraré cuán grandes cosas le es menester que padezca por mi nombre.
17 And Ananias went away, and entered the house; and putting his hands on him, he said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus who appeared to thee in the way thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mayst receive sight, and be filled with the Holy Spirit.
Ananías entonces fue, y entró en la casa; y poniéndole las manos encima, dijo: Saulo, hermano, el Señor, a saber, Jesús, que te apareció en el camino por donde venías, me ha enviado para que recibas la vista, y seas lleno del Espíritu Santo.
18 And immediately there fell off from his eyes as it were scales; and he received sight, and arose, and was baptized.
Y al instante le cayeron de los ojos como escamas, y recibió luego la vista; y levantándose fue bautizado.
19 And having taken some food he was strengthened. And he was some days with the disciples in Damascus.
Y cuando hubo comido, fue confortado. Y estuvo Saulo con los discípulos que estaban en Damasco, por algunos días.
20 And immediately he preached Jesus in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.
Y luego en las sinagogas predicaba a Cristo, que éste es el Hijo de Dios.
21 And all that heard him were amazed, and said, Is not this he that destroyed in Jerusalem those who called on this name? And he hath come hither for this purpose, that he may bring them bound to the chief priests.
Mas todos los que le oían estaban atónitos, y decían: ¿No es éste el que asolaba en Jerusalem a los que invocaban este nombre; y a eso vino acá para llevarlos atados a los príncipes de los sacerdotes?
22 But Saul gained still more strength, and confounded the Jews who dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is the Christ.
Empero Saulo mucho más se esforzaba, y confundía a los Judíos que moraban en Damasco demostrando que éste es el Cristo.
23 But after many days had passed, the Jews took counsel together to kill him;
Y pasados muchos días, acordaron juntos los Judíos de matarle.
24 but their plot became known to Saul; and they were even watching the gates day and night to kill him.
Mas las asechanzas de ellos fueron entendidas de Saulo: y ellos guardaban las puertas de día y de noche, para matarle.
25 But his disciples took him by night, and let him down through the wall, lowering him in a basket.
Entonces los discípulos, tomándole de noche, le bajaron por el muro metido en una espuerta.
26 And when he had come to Jerusalem, he attempted to join himself to the disciples; and they were all afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.
Y como Saulo vino a Jerusalem, tentaba de juntarse con los discípulos; mas todos tenían miedo de él, no creyendo que era discípulo.
27 But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and related to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that he had spoken to him, and hew he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.
Entonces Barnabás, tomándole, le trajo a los apóstoles; y les contó, como había visto al Señor en el camino, y que él le había hablado, y como en Damasco había hablado animosamente en el nombre de Jesús.
28 And he was with them going in and out at Jerusalem,
Y estaba con ellos, entrando y saliendo en Jerusalem.
29 speaking boldly in the name of the Lord. And he often spoke and disputed with the Hellenists; but they were endeavoring to slay him.
Y hablaba animosamente en el nombre del Señor Jesús, y disputaba con los Griegos; mas ellos procuraban de matarle.
30 But the brethren obtaining knowledge of it, brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus.
Lo cual como los hermanos entendieron, le acompañaron hasta Cesarea, y le enviaron a Tarso.
31 The church therefore throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria had peace, being built up, and walking in the fear of the Lord; and by the exhortation of the Holy Spirit it was greatly increased.
Las iglesias entonces por toda Judea, y Galilea, y Samaria, tenían paz, y eran edificadas; y andando en el temor del Señor, y en el consuelo del Espíritu Santo eran multiplicadas.
32 And it came to pass, that as Peter went through the whole country, he came down also to the saints who dwelt at Lydda.
Y aconteció, que Pedro andando por todas partes, vino también a los santos que habitaban en Lidda.
33 And there he found a certain man named AEneas, who had lain on a bed eight years, and was palsied.
Y halló allí a uno que se llamaba Enéas, que había ya ocho años que estaba en cama, que era paralítico.
34 And Peter said to him, AEneas, Jesus the Christ healeth thee; arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.
Y le dijo Pedro: Enéas, Jesu Cristo te sana: levántate, y hazte tu cama. Y luego se levantó.
35 And all that dwelt in Lydda and Sharon saw him; and they turned to the Lord.
Y viéronle todos los que habitaban en Lidda y en Sarona, los cuales se convirtieron al Señor.
36 Now at Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which name being interpreted is the same as Dorcas, that is, Gazelle. This woman was full of good works and alms-deeds which she did.
Y había en Joppe una discípula llamada Tabita, que interpretado, quiere decir Dórcas. Esta era llena de buenas obras, y de limosnas que hacía.
37 And it came to pass in those days, that she fell sick, and died; and when they had washed her, they laid her in an upper chamber.
Y aconteció en aquellos días, que enfermando, murió; la cual después de lavada, la pusieron en un cenadero.
38 And as Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, having heard that Peter was there, sent to him two men with the entreaty, Do not delay to come to us.
Y como Lidda estaba cerca de Joppe, los discípulos, oyendo que Pedro estaba allí, le enviaron dos varones, rogándo le: No te detengas de venir a nosotros.
39 Then Peter arose, and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber; and all the widows came to him weeping, and showing the coats and cloaks which Dorcas made while she was with them.
Pedro entonces levantándose, vino con ellos. Y como llegó, le llevaron al cenadero, y se le presentaron todas las viudas, llorando y mostrándole las túnicas y los vestidos que Dórcas hacía, cuando estaba con ellas.
40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down and prayed; and turning to the body he said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes; and seeing Peter, she sat up.
Entonces echados fuera todos, Pedro puesto de rodillas, oró; y vuelto al cuerpo, dijo: Tabita, levántate. Y ella abrió los ojos; y viendo a Pedro, se sentó.
41 And he gave her his hand, and raised her up; and calling the saints and the widows, he presented her alive.
Y dándole él la mano, la levantó: entonces llamando a los santos y a las viudas, la presentó viva.
42 And it became known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord.
Esto fue conocido por toda Joppe; y creyeron muchos en el Señor.
43 And it came to pass, that he tarried many days in Joppa with one Simon, a tanner.
Y aconteció que se quedó muchos días en Joppe, en casa de un cierto Simón curtidor.
