Acts 8
1 And Saul was consenting to his death. And there arose on that day a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and all were scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.
Ο δε Σαύλος ήτο σύμφωνος εις τον φόνον αυτού. Και έγεινεν εν εκείνη τη ημέρα διωγμός μέγας κατά της εκκλησίας της εν Ιεροσολύμοις και πάντες διεσπάρησαν εις τους τόπους της Ιουδαίας και Σαμαρείας, πλην των αποστόλων.
2 And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.
Έφεραν δε τον Στέφανον εις τον τάφον άνδρες ευλαβείς και έκαμον θρήνον μέγαν επ' αυτόν.
3 But Saul ravaged the church, entering house after house, and dragging both men and women, committed them to prison.
Ο δε Σαύλος εκακοποίει την εκκλησίαν, εμβαίνων εις πάσαν οικίαν και σύρων άνδρας και γυναίκας, παρέδιδεν εις την φυλακήν.
4 Now those that had been scattered abroad went through the country preaching the word.
Οι μεν λοιπόν διασπαρέντες διήλθον ευαγγελιζόμενοι τον λόγον.
5 And Philip went down to a city of Samaria, and preached to them the Christ.
Ο δε Φίλιππος, καταβάς εις την πόλιν της Σαμαρείας, εκήρυττεν εις αυτούς τον Χριστόν.
6 And the multitudes with one accord gave heed to the things spoken by Philip, when they heard and saw the signs which he wrought.
Και οι όχλοι προσείχον ομοθυμαδόν εις τα λεγόμενα υπό του Φιλίππου, ακούοντες και βλέποντες τα θαύματα, τα οποία έκαμνε.
7 For from many that had unclean spirits came they out crying with a loud voice; and many that were palsied, and that were lame, were cured.
Διότι εκ πολλών εχόντων πνεύματα ακάθαρτα εξήρχοντο αυτά φωνάζοντα μετά μεγάλης φωνής, και πολλοί παραλυτικοί και χωλοί εθεραπεύθησαν,
8 And there was great joy in that city.
και έγεινε χαρά μεγάλη εν εκείνη τη πόλει.
9 But before their arrival a certain man, named Simon, was in the city, a man practising sorcery, and amazing the people of Samaria, saying that he himself was some great person;
Άνθρωπος δε τις Σίμων ονομαζόμενος προϋπήρχεν εν τη πόλει, κάμνων μαγείας και εκπλήττων τον λαόν της Σαμαρείας, λέγων εαυτόν ότι είναι μέγας τις·
10 to whom they gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the Power of God, which is called Great.
εις τον οποίον έδιδον προσοχήν πάντες από μικρού έως μεγάλου, λέγοντες· Ούτος είναι η δύναμις του Θεού η μεγάλη.
11 And to him they gave heed, because they had for a long time been amazed by his sorceries.
Έδιδον δε προσοχήν εις αυτόν, διότι είχεν εκπλήξει αυτούς πολύν καιρόν με τας μαγείας.
12 But when they believed Philip, publishing the glad tidings concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
Ότε όμως επίστευσαν εις τον Φίλιππον ευαγγελιζόμενον τα περί της βασιλείας του Θεού και του ονόματος του Ιησού Χριστού, εβαπτίζοντο άνδρες τε και γυναίκες.
13 And Simon himself also believed, and having been baptized he continued with Philip, and was amazed when he beheld the miracles and signs which were wrought.
Ο δε Σίμων και αυτός επίστευσε, και βαπτισθείς έμενε πάντοτε μετά του Φιλίππου, και θεωρών σημεία και θαύματα μεγάλα γινόμενα εξεπλήττετο.
14 And the apostles at Jerusalem, hearing that Samaria had received the word of God, sent to them Peter and John;
Ακούσαντες δε οι απόστολοι οι εν Ιεροσολύμοις ότι η Σαμάρεια εδέχθη τον λόγον του Θεού, απέστειλαν προς αυτούς τον Πέτρον και Ιωάννην·
15 who, having come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit.
Οίτινες καταβάντες προσηυχήθησαν περί αυτών διά να λάβωσι Πνεύμα Αγιον·
16 For it had not yet fallen upon any of them; but they had only been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus.
διότι δεν είχεν έτι επιπέσει επ' ουδένα εξ αυτών, αλλά μόνον ήσαν βεβαπτισμένοι εις το όνομα του Κυρίου Ιησού.
17 Then they laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
Τότε επέθετον τας χείρας επ' αυτούς, και ελάμβανον Πνεύμα Άγιον.
18 But Simon, seeing that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles' hands, offered them money,
Ιδών δε ο Σίμων ότι διά της επιθέσεως των χειρών των αποστόλων δίδεται το Πνεύμα το Άγιον, προσέφερεν εις αυτούς χρήματα,
19 saying, Give me also this power, that on whomever I lay my hands, he may receive the Holy Spirit.
λέγων· Δότε και εις εμέ την εξουσίαν ταύτην, ώστε εις όντινα επιθέσω τας χείρας να λαμβάνη Πνεύμα Άγιον.
20 But Peter said to him, Thy money perish with thee! because thou didst think to obtain the gift of God with money.
Και ο Πέτρος είπε προς αυτόν· το αργύριόν σου ας ήναι μετά σου εις απώλειαν, διότι ενόμισας ότι η δωρεά του Θεού αποκτάται διά χρημάτων.
21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter; for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
Συ δεν έχεις μερίδα ουδέ κλήρον εν τω λόγω τούτω· διότι η καρδία σου δεν είναι ευθεία ενώπιον του Θεού.
22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray the Lord, if haply the thought of thy heart may be forgiven thee.
Μετανόησον λοιπόν από της κακίας σου ταύτης και δεήθητι του Θεού, ίσως συγχωρηθή εις σε η επίνοια της καρδίας σου·
23 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
επειδή σε βλέπω ότι είσαι εις χολήν πικρίας και δεσμόν αδικίας.
24 And Simon answering said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of the things which ye have spoken may come upon me.
Αποκριθείς δε ο Σίμων, είπε· Δεήθητε σεις υπέρ εμού προς τον Κύριον, διά να μη έλθη επ' εμέ μηδέν εξ όσων είπετε.
25 They then, when they had testified and spoken the word of the Lord, were returning to Jerusalem, and publishing the glad tidings in many villages of the Samaritans.
Εκείνοι λοιπόν, αφού εμαρτύρησαν και ελάλησαν τον λόγον του Κυρίου, υπέστρεψαν εις Ιερουσαλήμ, κηρύξαντες το ευαγγέλιον και εν πολλαίς κώμαις των Σαμαρειτών.
26 But an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, Arise, and go towards the south, to the way that goeth down from Jerusalem to Gaza. This is a desert way.
Άγγελος δε Κυρίου ελάλησε προς τον Φίλιππον, λέγων· Σηκώθητι και ύπαγε προς μεσημβρίαν εις την οδόν την καταβαίνουσαν από Ιερουσαλήμ εις Γάζαν· αύτη είναι έρημος.
27 And he arose and went; and lo! a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch, a high officer of Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem to worship,
Και σηκωθείς υπήγε. Και ιδού, άνθρωπος Αιθίοψ ευνούχος, άρχων της Κανδάκης της βασιλίσσης των Αιθιόπων, όστις ήτο επί πάντων των θησαυρών αυτής, ούτος είχεν ελθεί διά να προσκυνήση εις Ιερουσαλήμ,
28 was returning and sitting in his chariot; and he was reading the prophet Isaiah.
και υπέστρεφε και καθήμενος επί της αμάξης αυτού, ανεγίνωσκε τον προφήτην Ησαΐαν.
29 And the Spirit said to Philip, Go near and join thyself to this chariot.
Είπε δε το Πνεύμα προς τον Φίλιππον· Πλησίασον και προσκολλήθητι εις την άμαξαν ταύτην.
30 And Philip ran up, and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, Well, but dost thou understand what thou art reading?
Και ο Φίλιππος έδραμε πλησίον και ήκουσεν αυτόν αναγινώσκοντα τον προφήτην Ησαΐαν και είπεν· Άραγε γινώσκεις α αναγινώσκεις;
31 And he said, How can I, unless some one shall guide me? And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.
Ο δε είπε· Και πως ήθελον δυνηθή, εάν δεν με οδηγήση τις; Και παρεκάλεσε τον Φίλιππον να αναβή και να καθήση μετ' αυτού.
32 And the passage of the scripture which he was reading was this: “He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so he openeth not his mouth.
Το δε χωρίον της γραφής, το οποίον ανεγίνωσκεν, ήτο τούτο. Εφέρθη ως πρόβατον επί σφαγήν· και ως αρνίον έμπροσθεν του κείροντος αυτό άφωνον, ούτω δεν ανοίγει το στόμα αυτού.
33 In his humiliation judgment was refused him; and who shall describe his generation? for his life is taken away from the earth.”
Εν τη ταπεινώσει αυτού αφηρέθη η κρίσις αυτού· την δε γενεάν αυτού τις θέλει διηγηθή; διότι σηκόνεται από της γης η ζωή αυτού.
34 And the eunuch answering said, I pray thee, of whom doth the prophet say this? Of himself, or of some other man?
Αποκριθείς δε ο ευνούχος προς τον Φίλιππον, είπε· Παρακαλώ σε, περί τίνος λέγει τούτο ο προφήτης; περί εαυτού περί άλλου τινός;
35 And Philip opened his mouth, and beginning with this scripture declared to him the glad tidings concerning Jesus.
Και ανοίξας ο Φίλιππος το στόμα αυτού και αρχίσας από της γραφής ταύτης, ευηγγελίσατο εις αυτόν τον Ιησούν.
36 And as they went along the road, they came to a certain water; and the eunuch saith, See, here is water; what is there to hinder my being baptized?
Και καθώς εξηκολούθουν την οδόν, ήλθον εις το ύδωρ, και λέγει ο ευνούχος· Ιδού ύδωρ· τι με εμποδίζει να βαπτισθώ;
Και ο Φίλιππος είπεν· Εάν πιστεύης εξ όλης της καρδίας, δύνασαι. Και αποκριθείς είπε· Πιστεύω ότι ο Ιησούς Χριστός είναι ο Υιός του Θεού.
38 And he commanded that the chariot should stop; and they both went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
Και προσέταξε να σταθή η άμαξα, και κατέβησαν αμφότεροι εις το ύδωρ, ο Φίλιππος και ο ευνούχος, και εβάπτισεν αυτόν.
39 But when they had come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip; and the eunuch saw him no more, for he went on his way rejoicing.
Ότε δε ανέβησαν εκ του ύδατος, Πνεύμα Κυρίου ήρπασε τον Φίλιππον, και δεν είδεν αυτόν πλέον ο ευνούχος· αλλ' επορεύετο την οδόν αυτού χαίρων.
40 But Philip was found at Azotus; and passing through, he published the glad tidings in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.
Ο δε Φίλιππος ευρέθη εις Άζωτον, και διερχόμενος εκήρυττεν εις πάσας τας πόλεις, εωσού ήλθεν εις Καισάρειαν.
