Acts 7
1 And the high-priest said, Are then these things so?
Başkâhin, “Bu iddialar doğru mu?” diye sordu.
2 And he said, Brethren and fathers, hearken. The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran,
İstefanos şöyle karşılık verdi: “Kardeşler ve babalar, beni dinleyin. Atamız İbrahim daha Mezopotamya'dayken, Harran'a yerleşmeden önce, yüce Tanrı ona görünüp şöyle dedi: ‘Ülkeni, akrabalarını bırak, sana göstereceğim ülkeye git.’
3 and said to him, “Go forth from thy country and thy kindred, and come into the land which I will show thee.”
4 Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Haran; and from thence, after his father was dead, he caused him to remove into this land wherein ye now dwell;
“Bunun üzerine İbrahim Kildaniler'in ülkesini bırakıp Harran'a yerleşti. Babasının ölümünden sonra da Tanrı onu oradan alıp şimdi sizin yaşadığınız bu ülkeye getirdi.
5 and he gave him no inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on; and he promised to give it to him for a possession, and to his posterity after him, when as yet he had no child.
Burada ona herhangi bir miras, bir karış toprak bile vermemişti. Ama İbrahim'in o sırada hiç çocuğu olmadığı halde, Tanrı bu ülkeyi mülk olarak ona ve ondan sonra gelecek torunlarına vereceğini vaat etti.
6 And God spoke in this manner: “That his posterity should sojourn in a foreign land, and that they would bring them into bondage, and ill-treat them four hundred years;
Tanrı şöyle dedi: ‘Senin soyun yabancı bir ülkede, gurbette yaşayacak. Dört yüz yıl köle olarak çalıştırılacak, baskı görecek.
7 and the nation to which they shall be in bondage will I judge,” said God; “and after that they shall come forth, and shall worship me in this place.”
Ama ben kölelik edecekleri ulusu cezalandıracağım. Bundan sonra oradan çıkacak ve bana bu yerde tapınacaklar.’
8 And he gave him the covenant of circumcision; and so he begat Isaac, and circumcised him on the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob, and Jacob the twelve patriarchs.
Sonra Tanrı onunla, sünnete dayalı antlaşmayı yaptı. Böylelikle İbrahim, İshak'ın babası oldu ve onu sekiz günlükken sünnet etti. Ve İshak Yakup'un, Yakup da on iki büyük atamızın babası oldu.
9 And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt; and God was with him,
“Yusuf'u kıskanan atalarımız, onu köle olarak Mısır'a sattılar. Ama Tanrı onunlaydı ve onu bütün sıkıntılarından kurtardı. Ona bilgelik vererek Mısır Firavunu'nun gözüne girmesini sağladı. Firavun da onu Mısır ve bütün saray halkı üzerine yönetici atadı.
10 and delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favor and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt, and all his house.
11 Now there came a famine over all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and great distress; and our fathers found no Sustenance.
“Sonra bütün Mısır ve Kenan ülkesini kıtlık vurdu, büyük sıkıntılar başladı. Atalarımız yiyecek bulamadılar.
12 But Jacob, hearing that there was grain in Egypt, sent out our fathers first.
Mısır'da tahıl bulunduğunu duyan Yakup, atalarımızı oraya ilk yolculuklarına gönderdi.
13 And at the second time Joseph was recognized by his brothers, and the kindred of Joseph became known to Pharaoh.
Mısır'a ikinci gelişlerinde Yusuf kardeşlerine kimliğini açıkladı. Firavun böylece Yusuf'un ailesini tanımış oldu.
14 Then Joseph sent and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, seventy five souls.
Yusuf haber yollayıp babası Yakup'u ve bütün akrabalarını, toplam yetmiş beş kişiyi çağırttı.
15 And Jacob went down [[into Egypt]], and died, he and our fathers.
Böylece Yakup Mısır'a gitti. Kendisi de atalarımız da orada öldüler.
16 And they were removed to Shechem, and laid in the tomb that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem.
Kemikleri sonra Şekem'e getirilerek İbrahim'in Şekem'de Hamor oğullarından bir miktar gümüş karşılığında satın almış olduğu mezara konuldu.
17 But as the time of the promise drew near, which God solemnly made to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,
“Tanrı'nın İbrahim'e verdiği sözün gerçekleşeceği zaman yaklaştığında, Mısır'daki halkımızın nüfusu bir hayli çoğalmıştı.
18 until another king arose, who knew not Joseph.
Sonunda Yusuf hakkında bilgisi olmayan yeni bir kral Mısır'da tahta çıktı.
19 The same dealt subtly with our race, and ill-treated our fathers, so that they should cast out their infants, that they might not be preserved alive.
Bu adam, halkımıza karşı haince davrandı, atalarımıza kötülük etti. Onları, yeni doğan çocuklarını açıkta bırakıp ölüme terk etmeye zorladı.
20 In which time Moses was born, and was exceedingly fair; who was nourished in his father's house three months.
“O sırada, son derece güzel bir çocuk olan Musa doğdu. Musa, üç ay babasının evinde beslendikten sonra açıkta bırakıldı. Firavunun kızı onu bulup evlat edindi ve kendi oğlu olarak yetiştirdi.
21 And when he was cast out, Pharaoh's daughter took him up, and nourished him for herself as a son.
22 And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in his worlds and deeds.
Musa, Mısırlılar'ın bütün bilim dallarında eğitildi. Gerek sözde, gerek eylemde güçlü biri oldu.
23 And when he was forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren, the sons of Israel.
“Kırk yaşını doldurunca Musa'nın yüreğinde öz kardeşleri İsrailoğulları'nın durumunu yakından görme arzusu doğdu.
24 And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed by smiting the Egyptian.
Onlardan birine haksızlık edildiğini gören Musa, onu savundu. Haksızlığı yapan Mısırlı'yı öldürerek ezilenin öcünü aldı.
25 For he supposed his brethren would understand that God through his hand would give them salvation; but they understood not.
‘Kardeşlerim Tanrı'nın benim aracılığımla kendilerini kurtaracağını anlarlar’ diye düşünüyordu. Ama onlar bunu anlamadılar.
26 And the next day he showed himself to them as they were contending, and urged them to peace, saying, Ye are brethren; why do ye wrong one another?
Ertesi gün Musa, kavga eden iki İbrani'yle karşılaşınca onları barıştırmak istedi. ‘Efendiler’ dedi, ‘Siz kardeşsiniz. Niye birbirinize haksızlık ediyorsunuz?’
27 But he who was wronging his neighbor thrust him away, saying, “Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?
“Ne var ki, soydaşına haksızlık eden kişi Musa'yı yana iterek, ‘Kim seni başımıza yönetici ve yargıç atadı?’ dedi.
28 Dost thou mean to kill me, as thou didst kill the Egyptian yesterday?”
‘Yoksa dün Mısırlı'yı öldürdüğün gibi beni de mi öldürmek istiyorsun?’
29 And Moses fled at this saying, and became a sojourner in the land of Midian, where he begat two sons.
Bu söz üzerine Musa Midyan ülkesine kaçtı. Orada gurbette yaşadı ve iki oğul babası oldu.
30 And when forty years were completed, there appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai an angel in the flaming fire of a bush.
“Kırk yıl geçtikten sonra Musa'ya, Sina Dağı'nın yakınlarındaki çölde, yanan bir çalının alevleri içinde bir melek göründü.
31 And Moses seeing it wondered at the sight; and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came [[to him]],
Musa gördüklerine şaştı. Daha yakından bakmak için yaklaştığında, Rab ona şöyle seslendi: ‘Senin atalarının Tanrısı, İbrahim'in, İshak'ın ve Yakup'un Tanrısı benim.’ Korkuyla titreyen Musa bakmaya cesaret edemedi.
32 saying, “I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob.” And Moses trembled and durst not behold.
33 And the Lord said to him, “Loose the sandals from thy feet; for the place where thou standest is holy ground.
“Sonra Rab, ‘Çarıklarını çıkar! Çünkü bastığın yer kutsal topraktır’ dedi.
34 I have surely seen the oppression of my people in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them; and now, come, I will send thee into Egypt.”
‘Mısır'da halkıma yapılan baskıyı yakından gördüm, iniltilerini duydum ve onları kurtarmaya geldim. Şimdi gel, seni Mısır'a göndereceğim.’
35 This Moses, whom they denied, saying, “Who made thee a ruler and a judge?” this very man did God send both as a ruler and a redeemer with the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush.
“Bu Musa, ‘Kim seni yönetici ve yargıç atadı?’ diye reddettikleri Musa'ydı. Tanrı onu, çalıda kendisine görünen meleğin aracılığıyla yönetici ve kurtarıcı olarak gönderdi.
36 This very man brought them out, working wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness forty years.
Halkı Mısır'dan çıkaran, orada, Kamış Denizi'nde ve kırk yıl boyunca çölde belirtiler ve harikalar yapan oydu.
37 This is the Moses who said to the sons of Israel, “A prophet will God raise up to you from among your brethren, as he raised up me.”
İsrailoğulları'na, ‘Tanrı size kendi kardeşlerinizin arasından benim gibi bir peygamber çıkaracak’ diyen Musa odur.
38 This is he that was in the assembly in the wilderness with the anger who spake to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers; who received the living oracles to give to us;
Çöldeki topluluğun arasında yaşamış, Sina Dağı'nda kendisiyle konuşan melekle ve atalarımızla birlikte bulunmuş olan odur. Bize iletmek üzere yaşam dolu sözler aldı.
39 to whom our fathers would not be obedient, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back into Egypt,
“Ne var ki, atalarımız onun sözünü dinlemek istemediler. Onu reddettiler, Mısır'a dönmeyi özler oldular.
40 saying to Aaron, “Make us gods who shall go before us; for as for this Moses, who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we know not what is become of him.”
Harun'a, ‘Bize öncülük edecek ilahlar yap’ dediler. ‘Çünkü bizi Mısır'dan çıkaran o Musa'ya ne oldu bilmiyoruz!’
41 And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.
Ve o günlerde buzağı biçiminde bir put yapıp ona kurban sundular. Kendi elleriyle yaptıkları bu put için bir şenlik düzenlediler.
42 But God turned away, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the Prophets, “Did ye offer to me slain beasts and sacrifices for forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?
Bu yüzden Tanrı onlardan yüz çevirip onları göksel cisimlere kulluk etmeye terk etti. Peygamberlerin kitabında yazılmış olduğu gibi: ‘Ey İsrail halkı, Çölde kırk yıl boyunca Bana mı sunular, kurbanlar sundunuz?
43 And ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of the god Rephan, the figures which ye made to worship them; and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.”
Siz Molek'in çadırını Ve ilahınız Refan'ın yıldızını taşıdınız. Tapınmak için yaptığınız putlardı bunlar. Bu yüzden sizi Babil'in ötesine süreceğim.’
44 Our fathers had the tabernacle of the testimony in the wilderness, as he that spoke to Moses commanded that he should make it according to the pattern that he had seen;
“Çölde atalarımızın Tanıklık Çadırı vardı. Musa bunu, kendisiyle konuşan Tanrı'nın buyurduğu gibi, gördüğü örneğe göre yapmıştı.
45 which also our fathers received and brought in with Joshua, at their taking possession of the gentiles whom God drove out from before our fathers, until the days of David;
Tanıklık Çadırı'nı önceki kuşaktan teslim alan atalarımız, Yeşu'nun önderliğinde öteki ulusların topraklarını ele geçirdikleri zaman, çadırı yanlarında getirdiler. Ulusları atalarımızın önünden kovan, Tanrı'nın kendisiydi. Çadır Davut'un zamanına dek kaldı.
46 who found favor before God, and asked that he might find a habitation for the God of Jacob.
Tanrı'nın beğenisini kazanmış olan Davut, Yakup'un Tanrısı için bir konut yapmaya izin istedi.
47 But Solomon built him a house.
Oysa Tanrı için bir ev yapan Süleyman oldu.
48 Yet the Most High dwelleth not in [[temples]] made with hands; as saith the prophet,
“Ne var ki, en yüce Olan, elle yapılmış konutlarda oturmaz. Peygamberin belirttiği gibi, ‘Gök tahtım, Yeryüzü ayaklarımın taburesidir. Benim için nasıl bir ev yapacaksınız? Ya da, neresi dinleneceğim yer? Bütün bunları yapan elim değil mi? diyor Rab.’
49 “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What house will ye build for me? saith the Lord; or what is the place of my rest?
50 Did not my hands make all these things?”
51 Stiffnecked, and uncircumcised in heart and ears! ye do always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do ye.
“Ey dik kafalılar, yürekleri ve kulakları sünnet edilmemiş olanlar! Siz tıpkı atalarınıza benziyorsunuz, her zaman Kutsal Ruh'a karşı direniyorsunuz.
52 Which of the prophets did not your fathers persecute? And they slew those who foretold the coming of the righteous one, of whom ye have now become the betrayers and murderers;
Atalarınız peygamberlerin hangisine zulmetmediler ki? Adil Olan'ın geleceğini önceden bildirenleri de öldürdüler. Melekler aracılığıyla buyrulan Yasa'yı alıp da buna uymayan sizler, şimdi de Adil Olan'a ihanet edip O'nu katlettiniz!”
53 ye who received the Law as ordained through angels, and did not keep it.
54 But when they heard these things, their hearts were filled with rage, and they gnashed their teeth at him.
Kurul üyeleri bu sözleri duyunca öfkeden kudurdular, İstefanos'a karşı dişlerini gıcırdattılar.
55 But, being full of the Holy Spirit, he looked up earnestly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
Kutsal Ruh'la dolu olan İstefanos ise, gözlerini göğe dikip Tanrı'nın görkemini ve Tanrı'nın sağında duran İsa'yı gördü.
56 and said, Lo, I behold the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
“Bakın” dedi, “Göklerin açıldığını ve İnsanoğlu'nun Tanrı'nın sağında durmakta olduğunu görüyorum.”
57 And they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and rushed upon him with one accord;
Bunun üzerine kulaklarını tıkayıp çığlıklar atarak hep birlikte İstefanos'a saldırdılar.
58 and having cast him out of the city, they stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul;
Onu kentten dışarı atıp taşa tuttular. İstefanos'a karşı tanıklık etmiş olanlar, kaftanlarını Saul adlı bir gencin ayaklarının dibine bıraktılar.
59 and they stoned Stephen, making supplication, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
İstefanos taş yağmuru altında, “Rab İsa, ruhumu al!” diye yakarıyordu.
60 And kneeling down he cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And saying this, he fell asleep.
Sonra diz çökerek yüksek sesle şöyle dedi: “Ya Rab, bu günahı onlara yükleme!” Bunu söyledikten sonra gözlerini yaşama kapadı.
