Acts 7
1 And the high-priest said, Are then these things so?
El sumo sacerdote dijo: Entonces “¿Es esto así?”
2 And he said, Brethren and fathers, hearken. The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran,
Dijo: “Hermanos y padres, escuchad. El Dios de la gloria se le apareció a nuestro padre Abraham cuando estaba en Mesopotamia, antes de que viviera en Harán,
3 and said to him, “Go forth from thy country and thy kindred, and come into the land which I will show thee.”
y le dijo: ‘Sal de tu tierra y aléjate de tus parientes, y ven a una tierra que yo te mostraré’.
4 Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Haran; and from thence, after his father was dead, he caused him to remove into this land wherein ye now dwell;
Entonces salió de la tierra de los caldeos y vivió en Harán. Desde allí, cuando su padre murió, Dios lo trasladó a esta tierra en la que tú vives ahora.
5 and he gave him no inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on; and he promised to give it to him for a possession, and to his posterity after him, when as yet he had no child.
No le dio ninguna herencia en ella, ni siquiera para poner el pie. Le prometió que se la daría en posesión, y a su descendencia después de él, cuando aún no tuviera hijos.
6 And God spoke in this manner: “That his posterity should sojourn in a foreign land, and that they would bring them into bondage, and ill-treat them four hundred years;
Dios habló así: que su descendencia viviría como extranjera en una tierra extraña, y que sería esclavizada y maltratada durante cuatrocientos años.
7 and the nation to which they shall be in bondage will I judge,” said God; “and after that they shall come forth, and shall worship me in this place.”
‘Yo juzgaré a la nación a la que estarán esclavizados’, dijo Dios, ‘y después saldrán y me servirán en este lugar’.
8 And he gave him the covenant of circumcision; and so he begat Isaac, and circumcised him on the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob, and Jacob the twelve patriarchs.
Le dio el pacto de la circuncisión. Y Abraham fue padre de Isaac, y lo circuncidó al octavo día. Isaac fue el padre de Jacob, y Jacob fue el padre de los doce patriarcas.
9 And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt; and God was with him,
“Los patriarcas, movidos por los celos contra José, lo vendieron a Egipto. Dios estuvo con él
10 and delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favor and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt, and all his house.
y lo libró de todas sus aflicciones, y le dio favor y sabiduría ante el Faraón, rey de Egipto. Lo hizo gobernador de Egipto y de toda su casa.
11 Now there came a famine over all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and great distress; and our fathers found no Sustenance.
Pero vino un hambre sobre toda la tierra de Egipto y de Canaán, y una gran aflicción. Nuestros padres no encontraron comida.
12 But Jacob, hearing that there was grain in Egypt, sent out our fathers first.
Pero cuando Jacob oyó que había grano en Egipto, envió a nuestros padres la primera vez.
13 And at the second time Joseph was recognized by his brothers, and the kindred of Joseph became known to Pharaoh.
La segunda vez José se dio a conocer a sus hermanos, y la familia de José fue revelada al Faraón.
14 Then Joseph sent and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, seventy five souls.
José envió y convocó a su padre Jacob y a todos sus parientes, setenta y cinco almas.
15 And Jacob went down [[into Egypt]], and died, he and our fathers.
Jacob bajó a Egipto y murió, él y nuestros padres;
16 And they were removed to Shechem, and laid in the tomb that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem.
y fueron llevados de vuelta a Siquem y puestos en la tumba que Abraham compró por un precio en plata a los hijos de Hamor de Siquem.
17 But as the time of the promise drew near, which God solemnly made to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,
“Pero al acercarse el tiempo de la promesa que Dios había jurado a Abraham, el pueblo creció y se multiplicó en Egipto,
18 until another king arose, who knew not Joseph.
hasta que se levantó otro rey que no conocía a José.
19 The same dealt subtly with our race, and ill-treated our fathers, so that they should cast out their infants, that they might not be preserved alive.
Este se aprovechó de nuestra raza y maltrató a nuestros padres, y los obligó a abandonar a sus bebés para que no quedaran vivos.
20 In which time Moses was born, and was exceedingly fair; who was nourished in his father's house three months.
En aquel tiempo nació Moisés, y era sumamente apuesto para Dios. Fue alimentado durante tres meses en la casa de su padre.
21 And when he was cast out, Pharaoh's daughter took him up, and nourished him for herself as a son.
Cuando fue abandonado, la hija del faraón lo recogió y lo crió como si fuera su propio hijo.
22 And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in his worlds and deeds.
Moisés fue instruido en toda la sabiduría de los egipcios. Era poderoso en sus palabras y en sus obras.
23 And when he was forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren, the sons of Israel.
Pero cuando tenía cuarenta años, se le ocurrió visitar a sus hermanos, los hijos de Israel.
24 And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed by smiting the Egyptian.
Al ver que uno de ellos sufría un agravio, lo defendió y vengó al oprimido, golpeando al egipcio.
25 For he supposed his brethren would understand that God through his hand would give them salvation; but they understood not.
Suponía que sus hermanos entendían que Dios, por su mano, les daba la liberación; pero ellos no lo entendían.
26 And the next day he showed himself to them as they were contending, and urged them to peace, saying, Ye are brethren; why do ye wrong one another?
“Al día siguiente, se les apareció mientras peleaban, y les instó a que volvieran a estar en paz, diciendo: ‘Señores, sois hermanos. ¿Por qué os hacéis daño los unos a los otros?
27 But he who was wronging his neighbor thrust him away, saying, “Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?
Pero el que hacía mal a su prójimo lo apartó, diciendo: ‘¿Quién te ha hecho gobernante y juez sobre nosotros?
28 Dost thou mean to kill me, as thou didst kill the Egyptian yesterday?”
¿Quieres matarme como mataste ayer al egipcio?’
29 And Moses fled at this saying, and became a sojourner in the land of Midian, where he begat two sons.
Al oír estas palabras, Moisés huyó y se convirtió en forastero en la tierra de Madián, donde fue padre de dos hijos.
30 And when forty years were completed, there appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai an angel in the flaming fire of a bush.
“Cuando se cumplieron los cuarenta años, un ángel del Señor se le apareció en el desierto del monte Sinaí, en una llama de fuego en una zarza.
31 And Moses seeing it wondered at the sight; and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came [[to him]],
Cuando Moisés lo vio, se asombró de la visión. Al acercarse para ver, se le acercó la voz del Señor:
32 saying, “I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob.” And Moses trembled and durst not behold.
‘Yo soy el Dios de tus padres: el Dios de Abraham, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob’. Moisés tembló y no se atrevió a mirar.
33 And the Lord said to him, “Loose the sandals from thy feet; for the place where thou standest is holy ground.
El Señor le dijo: ‘Quítate las sandalias, porque el lugar donde estás es tierra santa.
34 I have surely seen the oppression of my people in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them; and now, come, I will send thee into Egypt.”
Ciertamente he visto la aflicción de mi pueblo que está en Egipto, y he oído sus gemidos. He bajado para liberarlos. Ahora ven, te enviaré a Egipto.’
35 This Moses, whom they denied, saying, “Who made thee a ruler and a judge?” this very man did God send both as a ruler and a redeemer with the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush.
“A este Moisés, al que rechazaron diciendo: “¿Quién te ha hecho gobernante y juez?”, Dios lo ha enviado como gobernante y libertador por la mano del ángel que se le apareció en la zarza.
36 This very man brought them out, working wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness forty years.
Este hombre los sacó de allí, después de haber hecho maravillas y señales en Egipto, en el Mar Rojo y en el desierto durante cuarenta años.
37 This is the Moses who said to the sons of Israel, “A prophet will God raise up to you from among your brethren, as he raised up me.”
Este es el Moisés que dijo a los hijos de Israel: “El Señor, nuestro Dios, os levantará un profeta de entre vuestros hermanos, como yo”.
38 This is he that was in the assembly in the wilderness with the anger who spake to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers; who received the living oracles to give to us;
Este es el que estuvo en la asamblea en el desierto con el ángel que le habló en el monte Sinaí, y con nuestros padres, que recibió revelaciones vivas para dárnoslas,
39 to whom our fathers would not be obedient, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back into Egypt,
a quien nuestros padres no quisieron obedecer, sino que lo rechazaron y se volvieron con el corazón a Egipto,
40 saying to Aaron, “Make us gods who shall go before us; for as for this Moses, who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we know not what is become of him.”
diciendo a Aarón: “Haznos dioses que vayan delante de nosotros, porque en cuanto a este Moisés que nos sacó de la tierra de Egipto, no sabemos qué ha sido de él.’
41 And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.
En aquellos días hicieron un becerro y llevaron un sacrificio al ídolo, y se alegraron de las obras de sus manos.
42 But God turned away, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the Prophets, “Did ye offer to me slain beasts and sacrifices for forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?
Pero Dios se apartó y los entregó para servir al ejército del cielo, como está escrito en el libro de los profetas, ‘¿Me ofrecisteis animales sacrificados y sacrificios ¿cuarenta años en el desierto, casa de Israel?
43 And ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of the god Rephan, the figures which ye made to worship them; and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.”
Tú tomaste el tabernáculo de Moloch, la estrella de tu dios Rephan, las figuras que has hecho para adorar, así que te llevaré más allá de Babilonia’.
44 Our fathers had the tabernacle of the testimony in the wilderness, as he that spoke to Moses commanded that he should make it according to the pattern that he had seen;
“Nuestros padres tuvieron el tabernáculo del testimonio en el desierto, tal como el que habló con Moisés le ordenó que lo hiciera según el modelo que había visto;
45 which also our fathers received and brought in with Joshua, at their taking possession of the gentiles whom God drove out from before our fathers, until the days of David;
el cual también nuestros padres, a su vez, introdujeron con Josué cuando entraron en posesión de las naciones que Dios expulsó delante de nuestros padres hasta los días de David,
46 who found favor before God, and asked that he might find a habitation for the God of Jacob.
que hallaron gracia ante los ojos de Dios, y pidieron encontrar una morada para el Dios de Jacob.
47 But Solomon built him a house.
Pero Salomón le construyó una casa.
48 Yet the Most High dwelleth not in [[temples]] made with hands; as saith the prophet,
Sin embargo, el Altísimo no habita en templos hechos por las manos, como dice el profeta,
49 “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What house will ye build for me? saith the Lord; or what is the place of my rest?
“El cielo es mi trono, y la tierra un escabel para mis pies. ¿Qué clase de casa me vas a construir?’ dice el Señor. ‘¿O cuál es el lugar de mi descanso?
50 Did not my hands make all these things?”
¿No fue mi mano la que hizo todas estas cosas?’
51 Stiffnecked, and uncircumcised in heart and ears! ye do always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do ye.
“¡De cuello duro e incircuncisos de corazón y de oídos, siempre os resistís al Espíritu Santo! Como hicieron vuestros padres, así hacéis vosotros.
52 Which of the prophets did not your fathers persecute? And they slew those who foretold the coming of the righteous one, of whom ye have now become the betrayers and murderers;
¿A cuál de los profetas no persiguieron vuestros padres? Mataron a los que predijeron la venida del Justo, del que ahora os habéis convertido en traidores y asesinos.
53 ye who received the Law as ordained through angels, and did not keep it.
¡Recibisteis la ley como fue ordenada por los ángeles, y no la guardasteis!”
54 But when they heard these things, their hearts were filled with rage, and they gnashed their teeth at him.
Al oír estas cosas, se sintieron heridos en el corazón y rechinaron los dientes contra él.
55 But, being full of the Holy Spirit, he looked up earnestly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
Pero él, lleno del Espíritu Santo, miró fijamente al cielo y vio la gloria de Dios, y a Jesús de pie a la derecha de Dios,
56 and said, Lo, I behold the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
y dijo: “¡Mira, veo los cielos abiertos y al Hijo del Hombre de pie a la derecha de Dios!”
57 And they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and rushed upon him with one accord;
Pero ellos gritaron con fuerza y se taparon los oídos, y luego se abalanzaron sobre él al unísono.
58 and having cast him out of the city, they stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul;
Lo echaron de la ciudad y lo apedrearon. Los testigos pusieron sus vestidos a los pies de un joven llamado Saulo.
59 and they stoned Stephen, making supplication, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
Apedrearon a Esteban mientras gritaba diciendo: “Señor Jesús, recibe mi espíritu”.
60 And kneeling down he cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And saying this, he fell asleep.
Se arrodilló y gritó con fuerza: “¡Señor, no les eches en cara este pecado!” Cuando hubo dicho esto, se quedó dormido.
